I use method 1 (didn't know you could use method 2) but for me there is always a lag from when I release mouse button to what happens on the screen, and I just can't get any unlocked.

So it doesn't seem to be entirely related to method, though people using method 1 tend to have an easier time of it so far.

Those of you having issues, what sort of framerate do you have while lockpicking? (Use /fps to check if you don't already.) It's kind of a long-shot but I can see how a low framerate could cause issues like this.

Has anyone having the issue actually checked whether disabling addons has an effect? Someone suggested it earlier, but it seems that they were ignored.

There is definately a lag now. It's only about 1/2 a second for me and hasn't caused any real difficulty but it definately began after the patch. (I'm in Aus so I'm used to a small amount of latency)

This is exactly what happened to me. I also used the left / right mouse button approach.

After only one simple chest, it is clear I have to unlearn my old habit.. and I have a long way to go to master the new style.

it was working fine for me, no lag or delay. there was a weird time when I couldnt find any and I mean any chests for a number of hours on my vet char. I thought that they had removed them due to update problems and would put them back in later. then on a low level alt that same day in the same region I found plenty.

All of my addons were automatically disabled after the update, as they were out of date, so it's definitely not related to addons for me (I've since enabled the "allow out of date addons" and gone through to see which ones still work properly, but the first few chests I picked were without any addons enabled).

I really don't think it's an FPS issue either, as my FPS is always about 45-60, and usually on the higher end of that. I haven't specifically checked if there's a slowdown of that while lockpicking, but it seems unlikely.

Since noticing that most of the people having issues are people who used the 2-button method, I've been using the 1-button method, and it's not as bad for me, but still there's usually a delay between when I release the button and when the lockpick releases, so lockpicking is far more random for me now, and results in far more broken picks.

I have to say that something happened to lock picking. Now it is more difficult to lock in pin in place, due to lag, not any mechanics changes.

However, what is really bad is when the pick fails to lock the pin, it resets not over the pin in question but off to the side. I barely got a Simple Chest open and I could do Advanced chests before in plenty of time. So it's not my skills, it's something is different.

I've had no issues, and actually found a moderate difficulty chest (first one in weeks lol)
