Lockpicking not working?

Just tried lockpicking and it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone else having a problem with this?

Since the update? Haven't tried. It was working fine before that, though.

I just tried it. It was working fine before the update. Now it works but the responsiveness is terrible - to the point where it's basically luck as to whether you successfully get a given pin, because you're just hoping that the lock pick actually releases when you right click (or release the left button) to release it.

Prior to the update I hadn't broken a pick in a couple of months. I broke 3 on my first chest post-update.

I just picked like forty chests. No problems, no differences.

Personally, I find breaking picks a welcome change. Previously, one pick would get me through a few hundred chests. If they're easier to break now... Good on the change. Lockpicking had always been a joke.

It's not that they're easier to break - it's that the pick doesn't release at the time when you release it. For me there's now a random delay of anywhere up to about 2 seconds. The delay causes breaking, as well as making it pure luck as to whether you actually get a pin.

I haven't experienced any changes in response time. If you're experiencing that, I'd attribute it to server lag or machine resource lag. Either reboot your whole machine, and/or troubleshoot the server lag. My response times are ad quick as they've always been.

Lockpicking seems to be laggy indeed , that is : if it s not an intended change of the last patch. The apparent lag makes it more difficult to hit the tumblers at the right moment.

No issues here. Ran 2+ circuits of chests with no issues. If you have any out of date add-ons try disabling them and see if they may be causing whatever issue you are having.

I mean if people are talking about the responsiveness being bad and breaking lockpicks and being unable to accurately get it to release at the right time, then it's a pretty good bet that they have lockpicks...

I definitely noticed a difference. Before the update, when I picked locks I would hold down the left mouse button and then press the right mouse button to lock it in place. But that doesn't work anymore. It was a little trickier at first, but you have to hold down the left mouse button and then release it to lock the pin in place. I feel like I'm able to pick the chests faster now, but I do break more picks than I used to as well. Which is fine, because when I'm looting nightstands, wardrobes, etc, looking for motifs, I find a ton of lockpicks. And I don't pick them up if I have 100 picks already because I don't see any need for them to take up 2 item slots when I can easily buy more if I can't find any for whatever reason.

So @milthalas raises a question I was pondering earlier, what method are you guys using to pick locks?

1. Hold left-click and release to place, or
2. Hold left-click and tap right-click to place?

Maybe one or the other is having an effect on responsiveness. I've always used method 1 with no issue, before or after patch.

It's still the same for me after the patch. I found at least 6 chests and opening them was no different than before.

well i have a have open many chests-and no matter what anyone says,the lock picking is messed up!-i have high achievement for lock picking,and was very fast at opening the simple locks-i cannot even open one since whatever they did to LP with the new update! it is sluggish,tumblers will not -With either method;- lock into place. i do not know what was done-it is effecting some but others find no change. I do know i had a high number of open locks to my achievement,of all lvl up to master-now i cannot open even a simple lock,it sticks and is unresponsive.
