Whats the size of todays patch? It was initially downloading 2.5 gigs. It finished, was installing, and I was eagerly getting ready to play. Then it started downloading another 3.5 gigs. I yelled "WhY wOUld tHey DOoOOo tHAt??!?" Pretty loud, and my cat hid under the couch. Is this the last DL? The launcher sez its only 30% done. I dont want to scare my cat again, and probly should go do something productive if its gonna be going all night...

    lmao... i did my patented "who-whas-this????!!!???" in my high pitched girlie voice and my shih-tzu came running because that's also the "treats and din-din" voice...

    The audio files are downloaded and applied in a seperate step. Always have been. You can actually run the game (using the eso.exe directly) without having the files downloaded - a guildmate of mine once did that and I think that happened to me in beta by accident. The game runs silent and you might get crashes more frequently.

    Since they are such big files usually wait with changes to those files till a content update get's around. That means they get a bunch of fixes at once.
    They could indeed increase the partitioning of the sound files a bit. 4x1.5 GiB is a tad unwieldy when a changed files have to be downloaded. But this might not be possible/usefull.

    Mine was just under 6GB. I had already patched my PTS install, so maybe that's why some are seeing larger downloads?

    ZOS should be patching the updates bug fixes over weeks before leading up to the update, so that us people who get slow download can just download the new content on the day it is released. It will cut the download in half.

    My launcher downloaded a 6GB update, patched that, and is currently downloading ANOTHER 6GB's.

    Update 5 is about 12GB total depending on what language you're playing in. You may see the patch applied incrementally like @dharbert‌ did because it's applying patches 1.5.0-1.5.2 now.

    Yeah It's about 12-13 GB, even with my fast DL speed it took a little over a Hour to download it..
