Weapon Swapping seems to confuse animations.

It seems that after swapping a couple of times, it bugs. For example, I had my bow take the place of my daggers. I was swinging a bow around instead of daggers, and the daggers took the place of the bow and I was doing a really weird shooting animation with daggers.
So yeah. The changes to weapon swapping has really borked things.

Pangnirtung✭✭✭✭✭I posted a bug report about this and the frequency of the WRONG item displaying or the graphic for the wrong item is increasing.
It can be with a staff or a sword. The program seems confused about which graphic to display. In a fight it makes it all the more confusing because I will see a sword but my spell bar displays the icons for my staff.
Anyone else having this problem?1 -

My husband swaps between DW and Resto Staff and the problem he has is slightly different but related. He sees the Resto Staff no matter what weapon he swaps to. However, when I look at his character from my character's point of view I DO see the weapon swapping just fine.Edited by kgallellab14_ESO on August 5, 2014 1:55AM0

✭✭✭✭✭Yep, same here ... and it's between Destro and Resto staves for me. Though as the OP indicated it is only the animations. The actual weapon skills slotted seems to swap fine. However, during battle you are often looking at the staff in front of you and not down at the skills. Thanks for posting this topic, OP.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭It sounds like there are other reasons why this happens, but I have confirmed and reported one bug related to stealth.
If you are stealthed and have the bow out, swapping weapons makes it get stuck. You will then be unable to swap to your other weapon (bar changes but weapon doesn't) OR put away your weapon until you come out of stealth.0 -

Take out your bow. Cast Evil Hunter from the Fighter's Guild. Now, swap to Dual Wield. The spell effect from Evil Hunter stays in the shape of a bow.
Now, swap back to bow. Now the spell effect for bow is stuck with the two separate effects that should have gone with dual wield.
Play for a while. Soon the bow will stop doing damage altogether, but then the enemy you were attacking just instantly dies for no reason after standing there frozen.
No lag, no latency. Everything else working fine.

✭I found a related graphical error. When I turn in quests I put on a set of heavy training armor and swap to my second weapon to get xp for those spells as well. Now when I put my light armor back on and swap the weapon back to first it "appears" to change my armor back to heavy. I can sit there weapon swapping appearing to instantly change gear sets. This is graphical ONLY, it isn't equipping the heavy armor.0 -
Elder_III✭✭✭✭I have had this problem as well, and it seems to happen only after I dye an armor set and leave the dye station. Afterwards I swap weapons and it's messed up. Also if I change my armor (I use 2 different sets) and then swap weapons afterwards the second weapon set will switch to the visuals/graphics of the previous armor (which is sitting unused in my inventory).
I'm not surprised at these kinds of bugs considering the changes made in this patch, I am quite surprised that these things were not caught and eradicated either on the PTS or in internal testing. I love the game and enjoy it greatly, but it seems that an extra week of strictly testing would be a good idea for these large updates. I would have happily waited another week for this update to arrive. Maybe you just need larger numbers of testers?Semi retired from the trading aspects of the game.0 -

✭For me, my sword and shield were invisible until I relogged, and my greatsword was upside down so the handle was on my shoulder and the blade facing diagonally outward into the air, it was quite amusing. this. and many variations of this. i even tried removing armor and switching around...then all i got was odd bits of nakedness mixed with odd bits of gear with and without weapons or the correct weapon, etc etc etc...all borked up0 -

✭✭✭✭I've been having the same issue, sometimes the graphics for 1 particular weapon or armor set will persist despite having swapped weapons or changed to different armor.
Relogging fixes it for me, but it's a rather desperate fix as obviously I would rather not have to relog every time I switch equipment to get the correct graphics and animations!GM - Ghost Sea Trading Co - NA PC

✭✭I've found that relogging fixes the issue, for the remainder of your play session. This is obviously just a bandage on the wound... but ya... sigh0 -
It might possibly be related to the new dye system. After dying a character's armour, weaponswitching suddenly results in my character showing a helm, despite having that turned off. Enabling and disabling that option seems to resolve that. Also, my arrows keep disappearing when switching to bow. At one point, I also think I saw my sword being dropped on the ground or something. Weirdness..When Alyennnah is not here, she's probably crafting. Quite possibly at Alyennah's Crafting in Wayrest. Or maybe she's out there, looking for new materials, recipes and styles to use in crafting. She wants to craft all the things.0 -
Seravi✭✭✭✭✭Yeah I just sent another ticket in on this issue. The dye system has things messed up a bit. For one weapon I am wearing my new armor for my secondary weapon I am wearing my old armor. Not sure how to fix it.0 -

DigitalHype✭✭✭✭I can confirm the weapons swap bug. I alternate between sword+board and dual-wield.
So far, it appears cosmetic. But, certainly it is annoying. I use the visual queue of my weapon set, to confirm which skill's I have loaded on the bar. Then I end activating the wrong skill.
For me, the bug seems to always show my primary (1) weapons set, when I'm actually on weapons set 2 (dual-wield).0
