Do we have to earn the crafting achievments if we already did them before patch?

For example I'm 50 in blacksmithing, woodworking, and clothing. But crafting says I have no rare motifs, and I have not refined any materials.

    I'm not sure about the motifs one (that seems like it should be fixed), but they weren't keeping track of refined materials prior to this patch. So achievements like that are going to be start-from-scratch achievements.

    You can be lvl 50 and not have everything.. I think a dye achievement (don't know if there is more than one) is given in clothing if you have all the motifs including deadric,barbarian and ancient elf. Which would make since for the other two you list..

    If the achievement is new (one of the 40+ added ones), then you need to do what is requested even if you did it before already.

    If its one of the old achievements however then the Dye should automatically become unlocked if you log in.

    this is not the case, they used the example of emperor. You don't have to reget emperor for it.

    I really want birch white and am going to be peeved if I have to go on a harvesting spree to get it.

    I have all motifs on one character, I do hope that's something they fix. The rest of it, I'm really not surprised, as pointed out, it's not like they were keeping track of refinements. They aren't too difficult to achieve either.

    But that motif achievement, I do hope that one gets fixed.

    Emperor is not a new "achievement" is it? We had Emperors with the title since many months, the change from 10k AP to 50k AP doesn't make it new ;) Yes there were no Achievement points awarded for it but a title.

    The title alone makes it possible to be tracked. Its similar to Rank 14 at WOW, even if you did this at Vanilla without the achievement system in place, it tracked your title and therefore you received the achievement with TBC.


    If there however is a new crafting achievement that says craft x items then this wont be awarded upon login even if you crafted those items pre patch. Same applies for harvesting.

    So to finalize my statement and make it more clear, everything that could be tracked and / or already had an achievement will give you a dye. Everything new added that wasn't tracked before wont give a dye.

    Seems to me it would be easy to award most of the new crafting achievements based on skill level and equipment, probably a few others. I have the Node achievement for 10,000 nodes. Stands to reason then, that I have refined at least 3000 mats. If I'm wearing epic items I crafted, the system can't see this and award the achievement? I'm not interested in getting every dye, but if they were going to create all these new achievements, they should have taken into account ALL the achievements likely completed by players, not just retro-actively awarded some achievements. It would be impossible to get to high crafting levels without having passed many achievement benchmarks, and there are indicators to use to recognize them.
