[SOLVED] Where are the dye stations?

I can't find dye stations in Riften, Wayrest Skywatch, Vulkhel Guard, and a few other places. I did find one in Mournhold, Evermore, Rawl'kha, and Daggerfall (Veteran version).

We need a list of the locations so we can get past the silly game of hide and seek. Oh, and it's cute to hide them away inside "trade halls" with merchants or "crafting halls" with crafting stations. What's the logic of that? One or the other, but both? And, no, these "inside" locations are not marked on the map like we were led to expect, but listed along with the vendors.

And then there's the matter of that "account wide" business. They're not, they're character specific. Verified, this is working fine for me, title revised.

EDIT: I meant to say Skywatch, not Wayrest.

EDIT: Thanks for the help. Still nothing in Skywatch, but there is one in Vulkhel Guard. It's full of spammers, but, hey, what can you do? ;-)

Back in my day they used to call that "exploration" ...

It has a map icon to find them in towns -- they are inside buildings most of the time by the "crafting stations barns" or enchanter shops, etc. If one looks at the icons tab on the map UI page, it will show what icon that the Dye stations are using (also it shows what the icons are banks, blacksmiths, cloth, etc etc)

You're telling me something I already know. The point of my post is that I'm finding locations where I expect to be able to find them, where I'm not. Not inside, not outside.

Not fast enough. Need a sparkly path as one logs in directing one to any place one desires to go. :\

Seriously? You expect XP for finding them, I suppose. Missing map pins are a mistake in a city, not a discovery opportunity. If I'm just not seeing what's already there, fine, I'm not claiming to be perfect. But you haven't told me, for instance, where the dye station in Wayrest Skywatch is located. Do you know?

I believe what Srugzal was saying is that at one point in time you just went and looked for things. No map markers, no XP, no hand holding. Just go and explore the town looking for what you want. It's still how I play games.

Hey there, @Srugzal. Just to confirm, are the achievement dyes that you've unlocked not available to all of your characters?

That was me, not Srugzal, but yes, that was my point.

Remember the days when you actually had to search for the location of a quest target?

These days it's "Please find XYZ, i lost it!" and you get a map marker showing you the exact location of the item you need to "find".

I just went back and double checked, and though they appeared to me to be different, I see that they are the same. I've changed the title. My mistake. Thank you for your quick reply.

Here's what people are seeing @ZOS_JasonLeavey. Until you log on to each individual character some dye unlocks are not being credited. Simple solution...log on to each character. Log out completely..and they update.

I am certainly sympathetic to that view, it does go a long way to furthering the goal of immersion.

But that is not the issue here. The 1.3.3 Patch Notes clearly state how the dye stations are to be found, and show what the icon looks like. Nothing is said about it being inside, and though they are not everywhere, I still expect a capitol city like Wayrest to have one. The problem is a bug, perhaps in the map, not a failure of my imagination, or just laziness, as some would seem to be implying.

So, aside from the philosophy of game design, have you found a dye station in Wayrest Skywatch?

The dye stations are most definitely listed on your map. Just because it's own unique icon isn't there, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist or that it isn't bundled in with things like the vast majority of all other crafting stations.

I'm at work and on the west coast, so no, i haven't found anything since i haven't been able to play the new update on LIVE yet (tested some on PTS).

That will have to wait for another 7 hours or so ...
    :)

Ah! So I'm not delusional after all. Too bad I didn't get an early screenshot...

Yes, I've accounted for that. For instance, the dye station in Evermore is outdoors, but the one in Daggerfall is inside the Daggerfall Millworks with the Woodworking and the Enchanting station. So yes, I know how to find things. It's just that I'm not finding them in places like Skywatch where I expect to, inside or outside.

And the paint-pot icon is used in every case. It's just not as big for the inside version.

I kept saying Wayrest in error (I meant Skywatch, which apparently doesn't have one)... so I looked for it. It's outside, just southeast of the wayshrine in Wayrest, you can see the crowds around it from the wayshrine. Easy to find.

But perhaps the places where my characters happened to be were just unlucky. And there is one in Riften, tucked away in that low-life crafting room on the lower level.

Still, nothing so far in Auridon. Anyone find one?

There is at least one in Auridon, upstairs in the Crystal Vial, Vulkhel Guard.

Thanks, I'll look there. Right now I'm staying away from the game until I reach critical mass with updated addons. Right now it's an addon bloodbath out there...

I at the very least need Wykkyd's and Harven's.

Try this to allow your add ons to work until they are updated.

Thank you for suggesting this. I'm sure I'm not the only one in addon hell at the moment, though Wykkyd's and a few others have updated.
