ESO Crash Full PC Shutdown - All Addon settings reset - Usersettings.txt overwritten

Okay I have been playing smoothly since last patch except for some longer character loading screens. The only other anomaly has been my audio settings won't stick between character loads and game login-logout.

About 2 minutes ago I was in-game just doing some transfers between bank and character when the sound started to corrupt then then black-screen and PC shutdown to reboot.

After reboot and starting to log back into game, the first thing was the intro movies played fresh telling me the user-settings had been overwritten, then I received the gray-scale setup and then I received the EULA prompt again.

After getting in on one character all my addon settings have been overwritten.

I then exited and checked the launcher and nothing there, no request for update or anything, haven't tried a repair yet as I don't want to overwrite anything more until some more file checks.

Unfortunately I hadn't backed up my live folder since the night of July 30 since I was expecting to backup everything tomorrow night before the patch.

The game crashed so hard that it didn't even have time to prompt a crash report. I checked WIN7 event viewer and there are no unique error logs to either audio system or ESO.exe. There are no entries in any of the live error logs.

Has anyone experienced this level of game crash before, to the point of overwriting all the client side files??

If you have can you tell me what you think might have caused it and what you did to restore back to before the crash so I can troubleshoot more before I start trying to restore my 7-30 files.

Thanks

Well thankfully this hasn't reproduced after playing until about 2AM this morning.

I put back my archived files from the 30th and it seemed to hold. Then I archived them all again for last night and will do the same tonite before the patch.

The audio settings still won't hold between sessions but I can't find any error data to know the exact cause of the crash. I still have some longish character load times but haven't had any other in-game CTDs before last night. If there has been some file corruption on the SSD with the ESO.exe installed it hasn't logged any errors.

I am tempted to download a fresh install after the patch tomorrow and may move the "Live" folder back to a separate SSD instead of the HDD raid array it resides on now.

Here's hoping it was an isolated incident.

Do any of your addons relate in any way to the game's audio? I'd certainly try disabling all add-ons for testing purposes, that would seem to be the likeliest cause of in-game settings not holding, although as far as hard crashes are concerned one can never rule out failing hardware.
