This thread brought to you buy the people who wanted giant arrows placed over quest givers because talking to npcs is to much work.

Is this a claim? Do you have evidence?

Clearly you haven't mastered the "sidestep reading" maneuver yet, that all combat librarians use.

I am convinced that each zone has a group of Skill Books. Because when I first enter a zone, I get quite a few ups in the first few buildings I go into in the first town. In Malabal Tor, I got about 15 in the Vile Manse, it was the first place I visited. After that, a few. It is like this in every zone.

I also have low luck in the Ayelid Ruins, so I don't even bother most of the time. I do find them, just not often enough to deal with the stone shelves in those places. I just focus on furniture bookshelves where ever I am.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

They are called the Imga and they exist and are around in the same timeline as ESO (just no-one seems to have remembered to put them in)

95% of all bookshelves is filled up with lore. The rest of them award a skill point in a random ability. My request is too highlight those bookshelves, that contains a skill point , in blue. So I will be able to skip history lessons and get my skill point without pain.

nooooo that would ruin it for most players and the lazy ones that by pass searching book shelves in Dungeons and homes palaces etc well its a "Case of To Bad About" that search them all its all part of playing our MUCH loved and Very much enjoyed Elder Scrolls

Bookshelves are freebies, why is anyone complaining. Its not like you can't just level skills by using them.

I can only think of one skill line point that I got from a book once I began VR content, and that one was in Enchanting I believe. And thank goodness I got it, now my Enchanting is up to 5 and I will soon drop everything else to focus on it.

All my "unused" skill lines are at 5 or 6 now. I guess there may be another book or two that I'm missing, but we're in needle in a haystack territory here.

    i am V3.
haven't found a skill book for a month or so.
i checked every shelf as best i could.
my skill point books seem exhausted.
but i still fight the urge to check the shelves.
it is a hard habit to break.

I believe you can only level any particular skill 5 times by books. At VR levels, the chances are you already have those 5 levels, if you read books leveling from 1-50.

That's what it sounds like after perusing the forums re books.
Despite knowing this, I still feel the urge to check shelves.
    Weird, I know.

Aw man, seriously? I respectfully disagree with this request.

I appreciate the fact that you want a faster solution here, but this is the kind of request thats better solved by Add On developers.

The whole idea around searching those bookshelves is to further the feeling of exploration in the game.

Making it obvious that one shelf, over the others, has a skill point increase attached to it will trivialize the importance of the other books, and the feeling of reward you receive when you actually find one.

Search for databases like ESOUI.com to see if Add On developers are making this sort of thing, for you to download, and have in your personal gameplay.

Herein lies the issue. Why put in a throw away system? Shouldn't the system be fully fleshed out? It's more nuisance than anything. Is it a major thing? No, but it's annoying. Tie the skills into interesting things that matter. It's like Mage's Guild progression. Progression from the Mage's Guild should be tied into what you are actually doing for the guild. Not finding random books scattered throughout the world. They basically implemented finding Ezio's 100 feathers in Assassin's Creed. Busy work to occupy your time. Deplorably lazy implementation and design in my opinion.
