95% of all bookshelves is filled up with lore. The rest of them award a skill point in a random ability. My request is too highlight those bookshelves, that contains a skill point , in blue. So I will be able to skip history lessons and get my skill point without pain.

While it is not a bad idea, the amount of skill xp you get from the bookshelves are actually very low anyway. Don't bother with it.

Not sure how it is a hassle to simply click on an object and hit "Esc" shortly after the book shows on screen. I was able to clear them very quickly with little to no effort..

Don't waste time hitting escape to stop reading; simply move and the book will close. Speed reading the ESO way.

While we're at it, lets make loot containers glow based on the quality of the items inside! When you mouseover it, maybe it can also be named by what is inside of it as well? E.G. Blue Chest (Simple) of Halfhide Jack of Magicka.

That way you will barely even have to play, and won't need to be bothered wasting half a second clicking useless bookshelves and the like.

once you completed the first 1-50 levels, you can stop searching in bookshelves, you have all or most of them if you have done like me, and most of your skills are already at lvl 50

    these should be
    2 weapons skill lines
    all armor types light/medium/heavy

if you have decon most of your drops, and research non stop,
woodworking/blacksmithing/clothing should all be at lvl 50 as well

so there aint any reason to keep opening them

The OP probably wants this function as there was a mod for Skyrim that made different types of books glow iirc.

Well yeah but it was different in Skyrim. I'm fairly sure you actually pick up the books there so it was wasier to know which ones you had so you didn't pick up a bunch then have to dump them.

You don't actually put them in your inventory here.

    Petition please:

"I'd like to log in, do the things I consider fun and reap the rewards of the things I don't find fun, but see value in. I'm busy with my strawberry margarita and some eye candy...let me know when you have filled my bags with loot and put sparkly aura's around each of the books on bookshelves that benefit me tangibly. I'm not interested in the lore, and I'm in a hurry. This is my fun - doing as little as possible and gaining max benefit from it. And give it to me nao. I'm a real gamer, doing my own thing and you better cater to me. Also ZOS, don't forget to complete work on making a dual phasing option so that I can solo all content all the time. Its taking a little too long."

    Signed,
    New Breed of Gaming Multitasker

P.S. **What IS all this interaction/grouping/having to mess about with items and npc's and especially grouping with other player characters-shizz? I just wanna have my fun. Comeon now ZOS, work faster.

I disagree, I gotten my alchemist alt up to 48, then the next random bookshelf that gave a skill up pushed it to 49; it basically gave me a full craft level's worth of experience. Obviously that was pretty much worthless as the level required to reach everything was much lower, but it does serve a nice push for certain skill lines like Enchanting for example. I saved up hitting any books on my Enchanter alt for that weird jump from 26, skipping 27 entirely, and going straight to 28 with a require x2.5 experience to 29. Suffice to say it was worth it, saving hitting anymore bookshelves until Enchanting is at 39 to get the 40 mark to craft the last rank of enchants.

I religiously examine bookshelves and I can't remember the last time it awarded a skill point... feels like a much lower rate than prior editions. I am VR4 so wondering if you are beyond a certain level there really is no benefit... would be good to know.

You get the same books in VR1 as you do in VR6 and your factions starting zone. The same goes for each progressing zone so VR2 and VR7 have the same books, VR5 and VR10 zones have the same books. So if you diligently hit every bookshelf from the beginner islands to the final zone and into cold harbour, you can probably stop hitting them up as you may have gotten them all. The rest of the reading material would be books or parchments laying around on a table.

I posted this as another thread, if you deliberately skip all the bookshelves going from 1-50, any books you read in VR zones after would still give you skill ups. By this time you would get the last few harder to level skill ups too. It doesn't matter if a skill is at 2 or 49, if the bookshelf is giving a skill up then it will give it regardless.
