Earning Gold - Best ways for the Solo player?

I was wondering what others are doing to earn gold in the game. I would like to avoid discussions on motif farming and selling crafted sets, I don't consider exploiting other players to be earning anything.
This pretty much leaves finding a good grind that drops lots of items to vendor off, unless someone has a trick or gimmick to share. I would love to see a discussion on these tricks \ gimmicks, or a discussion on good "grind " spots for making money.
And yes, I know there are other discussions on making in game money, but they always revolve around exploiting other players. I would like to see a thread that focuses on solo play, and doesn't involve selling things to other players that they didn't realize they could find or craft on their own.

✭✭✭✭To be quite honest... if you're going to remove selling gear to players out of the equation, then all you really have left is vendoring all your gear and doing quests. That's pretty much it.

✭✭There are many ways to make good money in this game.
1. Farm motifs
2. Farm provisioning and alchemy items and sell them in stacks
3. Use the provisioning and alchemy items you farm to make food buffs and potions and sell them in stacks
4. Craft and sell custom 6 or 8-trait gear for players
5. Craft and sell gear for research traits
6. Farm any raw ore/material and sell them in stacks
7. Craft VR12 daggers and sell them to players to level up their blacksmithing
And that's probably only half of what can be done in this game to earn a decent amount of gold.7 -

✭✭Selling motifs, complete looted armor/weapon sets, stacks of raw materials, and stacks of provisioning and alchemy items is not "exploiting" other players.
You pay for convenience. The time that I personally spent farming for all of those sets and items is hours or days that you didn't have to spend farming for them. Therefore I can sell these stacks of items at a premium.Edited by dharbert on August 2, 2014 3:18PM7 -

same way gold-sellers exploit folks; lazy people will pay lots of gold (likely purchased from gold-sellers) to buy stuff they could farm themselves.

✭✭One of the faster ways I get gold is just by selling gear I find. Dungeon runs, pick up and gear, sell it. Grab any resources you find along the path. By the time one of my alts hit level 20 the alt had 30K just by doing this.
I also stopped repairing armor as it's just a waste.
Motifs and crafting resources are good, too. I just add them on top of doing loot selling.1 -

✭✭For those who are crying about selling things to other players as being an "exploit", consider the following things.
Some players don't have the time to sit at the computer and play for 6 to 12 hours straight trying to get items and/or gear. Even though I have a full time job, I still have the time at least every other day to sit and have at least an 8 hour session, farming resources and gear, etc... My time is money. My time is time that you didn't have to spend farming for the items that you want.
You feel "exploited" by players selling 6 and 8 trait gear? Then by all means go right ahead and spend the MONTHS required to research that many traits in order to craft that gear. Again, time is money. You don't want to pay for custom gear? Then feel free to invest months in research doing it yourself.

Just my opinion, but it's taking advantage of newbies that don't realize they can do this on their own.
For the record, I have every crafting profession maxed (all 6 professions), and can craft 6-8 item sets in anything. If I want to exploit other players that don't completely understand the game, I can. I can also log on and off and search containers for motif farming, it's not exactly brain surgery. But if I'm not the one grinding items to vendor, then someone else is to afford the things I sell them. I'd rather not take advantage of other players like that, hence my inquiry. It's really not that difficult to max out all of your professions (Enchanting was the hardest), and researching a trait takes a few moments to find the trait in general chat and then press R to research it. There's nothing special about being a master crafter except that you understand the game mechanics.

I will echo this. However, Crafting is the key if you want control over your gear. Drops can give you good gear, but the chances of getting the gear that best fits your build that you need at the time are small. Once you can craft some decent gear, your money is only needed for bag space and horse/horse upgrades.
I have farmed Crimson Cove, a public dungeon in Malabal Tor for two or three hours and earned 5000 just from selling loot to vendors. There is even a add on that filters out the trash so your more efficient. Just empty your bag onto a mule of all but the essentials. This way you can grab 40 to 110 items to sell on each trip to the merchant.
So, find the public dungeon that is near your level, hang out until you see some players go in, and either group with them or run with them. Sometimes sending out a /zone about the dungeon will bring folks. A lot of us like to farm from time to time. Rinse repeat, cash in the bank. And, some nice skill upgrades too.

I couldn't agree more. I haven't had less than 100k on me since VR1.
There is plenty of gold in this game. However, there are players who simply can't play for hours and hours daily in order to get that much gold. There's nothing I can do about that.

Isibis✭✭✭I don't think I ever sold a crafted set to a low level player. Yes my sets are priced in a way that is not accessible to low levels, but I would caution them against the purchase if someone tried to buy one lower than vet 1. In addition, I work with my customers to figure out what sets are best for them if they don't know for sure, no matter how long it takes. In the end, I feel like I provide a service worth their money. Plus some people just find crafting boring, and would rather buy.
Myself, I have bought some motifs, dropped set pieces and mats in the past. I didn't feel exploited. Its just part of having an economy.
If you are still totally against selling sets and motifs, try farming public dungeons (you can sell the intricate items to players for x2 merchant price without ripping anyone off).3 -

This is the kind of post I'm actually interested in. Is it just questing and selling items? I'm V12, Did Cadwell's gold before the difficulty nerf (didn't get a T-Shirt though), and while I'm not hurting for money by any means, I would simply like a way to make more.2 -

There's no real point in what you just said. Surely, if someone plays 2h a day or less versus someone like me who can do 4 to 5h a day, he'll get less gold.
But he's progression will go slower too. The money you earn should be balanced alongside your progression. You shouldn't be able to get a 42k horse before you hit lv10
Saying that, you can get a 17k horse by lv10. So really, gold sinks in ESO are very mild and there's plenty o' gold out thereEdited by Welka on August 2, 2014 5:27PM2 -

White items you pick up from drops have more value. You're thinking of the ones you find in containers. If I'm going to do something mindless, I would prefer if animated pixels died in the process.1 -
Welka✭✭✭✭✭To the OP, IMO the best way to earn gold is selling drops. I personally haven't sold any as I was deconstructing for craft levelling, but now that I've hit lv50 on all crafts but enchanting, I can sell white drops. And over a few gaming sessions, they're worth a lot of gold without any effort
Edit: forgot to mention that all the deconstructs material was used to craft bows, daggers and medium/light trousers for selling. A good session of deconstruction, reconstruction and sale could easily yield from 1k to 3k also using some mats I previously stored Edited by Welka on August 2, 2014 5:35PM1
