Hi All, another reason for lag might be with hardware so here is another fun poll. Difficult to list all options but lets try a very general question including most popular graphics cards and main processor units.

    AMD FX-6300 @ 4.2GHZ
    SLI GTX 660s

Ultra settings with AA off: FPS is steady between 45-60 most of the time. Crowded cities I can hit 30s. Regularly goes down to around 15 in large PVP battles.

I feel like I SHOULD be getting much better FPS than I am getting, but I haven't had an "issues". I'm going to see if a bump up to 4.5ghz makes a difference.

With Ultra Settings i get around 30fps most of the time until in pvp or heavy combat situations like in a dungeon so I keep it mostly at high and have an average of 50-60 fps and 30-40 in those heavy situations so I dont have any issues.

However when I play at work, which is...well idk what kind of processor off hand but there is no graphics capability of any sort just from the cpu i have issues and crash with it all on low but not enough that i wont play, only like once an hour or so, i would be surprised if i had no issues on the computers at work lol.

Honestly, that seems about right. That's CPU bound for sure. ESO isn't all that great on CPU usage. It heavily burdens one or two cores. Really a shame considering the scale of PVP. Anyway, AMD FX has low IPC, bottlenecking more than comparable Intels in this particular game.

    ----

As for my own performance, I have two systems. The first is an i7-4770k @ 4.6 GHz with a GTX 770 4GB. I get 65 FPS 99% of the time (OC'd IPS monitor). PVP dips to 40 frequently, and in the most extreme case, I've seen as low as 17. Generally, large battles stay over 30.

My second build is an i3-4340 with a GTX 760. I get 65 FPS maybe 80% of the time, dipping as low as 50 in large PVE situations. Towns and PVP see a bigger impact, dropping an average of ~10 less than my primary PC.

It's definitely an AMD cpu problem, which is why I'm going to try to brute force some performance out with a 4.5-4.8ghz OC. I'm saving up for 2011 socket cpu/mb though. This is my first build with an AMD cpu and I'm.... less than impressed :)

Hahah yeah, AMD can be great when the software makes good use of the hardware, especially considering the price. The thing is, only a handful of games will make use of it. The vast majority of games favor higher per-core performance. Two major examples? StarCraft II and ESO. Major for me, at least. AMD's APUs are also a great option for very small budgets and light gaming. Actually, the APUs would be insanely good if, again, the software was there. They employ something called HSA, which greatly reduces overhead, kind of like their Mantle API. AMD is pretty much the king of awesome technologies that never get used enough to make it worth while.

About the 2011 socket, what all do you intend to do with the PC? If no professional work or video encoding, you'd be better off saving the money and going for an LGA 1150 CPU. The i7-4790K and i5-4690K would be perfect. The i7 would see some improvement in some games, but the i5 would be cheaper and still be absolutely fantastic for 99% of gaming situations. LGA 2011 CPUs are just hex-core but I believe the cores are generally less powerful than the mainstream enthusiast i5s and i7s, albeit by a very small margin. Basically, that means the performance in gaming would be nearly identical, if not favoring one or the other in different situations.

Intel i5 3570k @ 4.2 and GTX 780 Superclocked. No "issues" but i do experience frame drops in the normal areas such as crowded town Crafting spaces. I have yet to attempt a large PVP battle but i would expect, from everyone elses experiences, between 15-30+ depending on the size of the battle.

Definitely a problem in a game that promotes AvAvA for its primary PVP event.
For me, and this is entirely my personal preference, I can't STAND when games drop anywhere near 30FPS. I don't even need a frame counter on to feel it in the game play and know when it happens. Might be the reason why I've stayed out of PVP

Wonder what the results would be if you include a question about amount of RAM for each of those who voted?

I built my rig about 5 months back; happen to have 16 g in the desktop I'm running right now. I've had smooth gameplay from launch. My friend otoh has a fairly similar build, but only 8 g ram and has numerous issues. o-0

I think it would still depend on the rest, as I have only 4gigs of ram and no issues

I'm still on the fence for which socket i'll go with. I'll be running a few VMs on it (studying for IT certs and the like), but even 32 GB of RAM should be enough for what I'll be using it for.

Absolutely no CPU problems, though I think it runs on only two cores. When running the application in (relative) isolation it uses about 3.5 G of RAM.

Previously I was using an Nvidia card but the game crashed repeatedly, sometimes crashing the machine (BSOD), but as I say is completely stable with the AMD card.

My only issues are a random 100% CPU spike that last for a few seconds, and since a patch a few updates back, a huge ElderScrolls image (blue and white and looks like giant button) flashes on my screen after clicking play. Otherwise the game runs like a champ. Also neither of these issues happen on my pentium laptop.

K, thanks Trouvo. There's obviously soooo many rig configs etc - just can't understand why there isn't some concurrent, common issue which can be isolated I guess.

Depends on where I am at if I get issues. Whether I have graphics set to "Atari 2600" or all maxed it really doesn't make a difference when the FPS drops. My FPS can vary wildly from 5 to 90 depending on the number of people near me.

PvP can be unplayable at points and crashes multiple times per night.

What i want to know here and the key question is, the people that says "no issues" you all really know where the issues occur ? i mean, pve is 100% perfect no fps drops or lag (unless you go to a really crowded place where people fights), the fps lost that the majority of people says they have, me included, is in cyrodiil and not just standing in cyrodiil in the alliance entrance or traveling the roads, the issues appear when there is more than 30 fighting near you, you start to get fps lost just by standing near a fight and then when the fight start getting bigger like 50 vs 50 or 100 vs 100 the fps drops to 15-25... that didn't happen in beta / release / pre-1.2.3 patch.

I also have a decent/good machine i5 8gb ram with a gtx770 etc and have "no issues" in pve 70-99 fps and no issues with few people in cyrodiil (far away from the action) 70-99 fps too but when you get near a little action even without having it at your screen the fps starts dropping to 30-50fps and on heavy loads to 15-25fps.

So... again, the real question is, all those people that says "no issues" know where the real issues happens?
