Should you be able to join more than 5 Guilds?

Even 5 is too much! 1 Guild and a seperated system for merchant guilds would have been best. or even 1 guild + 1 auctionhouse, done.

I'm only in two guilds (neither one is a trading guild) and I'm starting to think that that's two too many. I miss the comraderie of being loyal to one close-knit guild, and I don't think I'm going to find that in this game.

So either answer is fine, as I'm starting to think the guild system isn't for me.

I personally don't think 5 is too many as such. I am in a PvE guild like I said but I have then created a PvP guild as a spin off to the original guild. I am still fully loyal to the PvE guild, but then I play to socialise & group & I think a lot of players just aren't interested in it. I managed to do a Cyrodil run with some guildies last night but could only get a 5 strong group together out of 20 players online & the situation is even worse when trying to form a PvE group. I just wish players wouldn't join a PvE/PvP guild if they are not planning on grouping after all I see no other benefit from joining a guild apart from the store but there are many trading guilds for that. I would prefer a 20 member guild (we have 68) where players interact & group than a large guild where no-one does.

Both PvE guilds I'm in are close to the 500 mark and I've been with one of them since the beginning. I don't mind helping out and joining in activities when I have time, but lately all I've been doing is helping other people when I want to pursue my own entertainment. The more I play with people, the less I want to play with people. Not because there's anything wrong with them, it's just mentally exhausting for me and I want to play alone.

So I guess it is useful when advertising a guild to add the text "You can join up to 5 guilds" :open_mouth:

I would really suggest doing that...im sure there are tons of people who have no clue, especially the people who came from steam that might not have been following the game since development.

I had no clue, I suspected that every guild had multiple chats, so if I wanted to chat with ebonheart pve'ers level range 15-20 I could go to guild2 chat for instance.

anywhoo...when I log on later im gonna be a guild spam bots wet dream. first 4 are getting me to pm them (except that guy who advertises the guilds sexuality..doesn't have a place in game)

im actually...very happy to hear this...so I can have a pvp guild, a pve guild...and a trade guild....

this is a great system btw....

I'm pretty sure it's written in the game loading screen tips, in the Guild Window etc. ^^ You only have 1 chan per guild and besides that you have /Z zone chat, /y Yell (in red), /s say (close range)

I understand what you're saying I tend to spend a lot of time helping out lower levels in the guild, but then I enjoy it. I do though set aside some time for myself to group with like-level players within the guild but tbh a lot of the time no-one is interested, I have around 3 members who are a similar level to me that group regular, we group together on a Sunday to clear a zone for all of us (world bosses, dolmens, public dungeons etc.) I just can't understand the players who join guilds & don't group or interact with other members. Can anyone shed some light on this ? Maybe there's a reason I'm not aware of ?

Nah, 5 Guilds is just fine.
I even think 5 guilds is too much. As a guildleader I'm noticing a distinct lack of interest and involvement from some people (I run a social guild). Some ppl just join because they want some place to grab a few more ppl for this or that dungeon. If guild 1 doesn't provide enough ppl, guild 2 perhaps will, or guild 3, or... well, you get the idea.
This makes it less likely for ppl to get involved in one guild and makes having a true social guild fairly difficult. People aren't drawn into a guild that much anymore.
It also makes it much more difficult to create a true raidgroup. A group of ppl who know each other's abilities, what they can or cannot do (well), what builds they have, etc. since it's so easy to just switch chat to your other guild(s) if you feel like your current guild isn't progressing quickly enough.

I really cant see why this matter , true , zen call of making our AHs in the guild slots means we cant really have many true guilds.

But im fine with having one guild and 4 mini AHs i keep on mute so they dont bother me.

Having 9 would be better i guess.

Hah , this would be really nice, but zen decided we should instead just change the name of most guilds to "muted people who may have items i want".

I gave up on this already , i just spend my "guild" slots.

If the poll had the option, I'd vote for one guild plus an auction house for trading (a separate one for each alliance).

Nah, 5 Guilds is just fine.
I found 1 guild to play and find people to do quests, dolmans/WB, etc. The other 4 are trade guilds that I keep until they start going dead and I find another.

5 is enough yes, however I wouldn't complain with 10. So I voted 10. But I won't lose sleep if they leave it at 5.

The reason I say 10 would be a good thing, although not necessary is: More Guild stores, guilds with a specific focus will be more welcome for me, guilds that are primarily focused on a different alliance for my alts of those said alliances, etc...

Simple, obvious reasons... however it makes sense. But regardless, I won't lose sleep either way, I would however welcome the extra guilds.

I voted "10" but not because I really feel I need 10 guilds.
I feel we need the ability (maybe with guild "prizes" won in achievements etc.) to expand the numbers of guild members.

I am part of a veteran trading guild that is always stuck at 500 members with a permanent queue of 20-ish "waiting out".
We are capped despite the bi-weekly inactive members clean ups and despite "inactive" triggers just after few days of being off line.

We got to the point we may create a second guild just to hold the members who don't fit.

But then we have the issue of our own guild store getting split in two, because the game does not know we are 2 guilds in one and of course keeps banks separate.

So, ESO at the moment is hard capping our success at attracting active traders and I think this is bad.

Having 10 guilds would just be a workaround for this kind of hard cap.

As it stands, I don't feel that *one* guild is enough (even in other MMOs where your guild choice is per character, I tend to join at least two guilds to expand the circle of people I can play and group with), I feel 5 guilds is plenty. Of course, I'm not big on the trading guild scene anyway. I was once, but they tend to die after a while, and I've found I used them very little. Maybe one day I'll be more interested in making the big bucks and this will be an issue for me too. :P

I think that the more guilds you have, the less you contribute to them. For example, if you have a trading guild you always by and sell from. If you then have two trading guilds, and you either buy and sell from both equally, in which case the original guild loses out on the revenue from selling, or you primarily buy/sell in one of the guilds, and you aren't really invested in the other - so there's not so much companionship going on in that one.

I think the fewer the guilds, the better those guilds will be.

It's not that I wouldn't join 10 guilds, I would, but I feel like my guild loyalty is already stretched kind of thin. I think a guild should be able to register as a trade guild and be separated, where you can have maybe 5 of those guilds also.

    Neither really...

I'd prefer the old fashioned method of guilding where each character controls their own guild membership rather than them being spread across the account.

But having it the way it is does not break the game for me in any way, shape or form.

Five guilds is already a lot, but 10? That's a little much.
