Respec Question for Crafting

I currently have 3 black smithing traits being researched. What happens to them if I respec? Also; what happens to things like Motifs I've learned?

✭✭Apparently the continue being researched.
The only thing I would be wary of is patches and maintenance, It's theoretically possible a patch or the servers being offline for maintanence could reset the research.
