Two Handed Skill Line

After thorough use of both one and shield and two hand as well as bow/DW..... thorough use being maxed out all of them, played all of them.... many, many different builds. I feel that the melee skill line that is the worst is Two Handed. The damage is less than one hands...... they swing about slower but don't do enough damage to make up for the slower speed.

Anyways, I can write a whole post on this but really I just want your opinions..... after using it thoroughly, what do you think?

Is it the worst melee skill line in the game?

I know you can do those combos where you press mouse click and cast ability to "animation cancel" but this shouldn't even be in the game and you can do it with 1 hand too.

I use 2H as a Dragonknight, and it seems to kick butt. I use Rally along with Molten Weapons. To up my attack. Then use Stampede to Immobilize, then Molten whip 2 times to heal my health of what was done. Follow up with Wrecking Blow and some more Molten Whip. They are usually down for the count.

I used 2H and Dual Wield on my Templar, and noticed that I often did more damage with 2H.

to be fair the problems with this skill tree is the primary problem with all melee and stamina abilitys... and thats the weak base damage..

2handed does see good use in PvP and thats it... you will get kicked if you try and DPS with 2handed in PvE unless you are a tank that is trying to DPS during non boss pulls.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

But even then you'd take the tank using a bow for the off set for trash mobs. Less drag on the healer is preferable and keeps everyone grouped at ranged to stack inside the healers AoE.

Two hander underperforms next to it's competitors. Aside from the combination @RIzmyy mentioned (which is the staple of the skill line even I used at one point) there's little to no room for versatility. At least not any that I've found. Had an idea of using it for a buff bar (Rally, Unstoppable, Igneous Weapons, Circle of Protection, Green Dragons Blood, Barrier ultimate) then swapping over to the actual combat bar for whatever else I intended to do (that build was a Tank so One Hand and Shield was the other set). Suffice it to say it's just underwhelming and I'm not sure which direction it should go in to improve.

Two handed skill line is pretty nice for me and I cant say that it the worst skill line. But TBH there are some useless passives. Skills - great. Maybe uppercut have too long cast time but it deals a lot of damage and stunns, so ok. All active skill IMO great. When you decide to use 2H - you know you have to forget about defence with it and all skill match this philosophy. But some passives - it's a really crap. Heavy weapons usefull only with blades because axe and mace bonuses are so little, but sword bonus is in % and this very important. Dont see pretty much use of forcefull passive. I can mistake and if so feel free to correct me with your proofs.

Recently added 2h to my current build. I am stilling getting use to it, so I am on the fence on how it compared to the other weapons. I run it in pvp, so it offers some interesting fights to say the least

Want to do good with a 2 hander or be useful in a fight?

Equip a 2 handed Sword with Powered Trait
    Apply Disease Enchant to it
Congrats, you've now got a Perma Healing Debuff that you apply on anyone you're attacking.

Earlier in the week, I found myself in a dungeon with a heavy armoured, 2 handed character slicing through mobs like they were butter. I was envious of the damage they could wield with one slice but also mesmerized by the weapon and skill effects I hadn't seen before (VR10). I must have unconsciously had them down as a Templar or DK, because when we got the boss and they dropped a storm atronach, my jaw practically hit the desk.

And, OMG, the very next day at a world boss, the very same thing happens. I thought it must be the same guy, so I checked their character's name and nope, this was another battlemage, being just as cool as the guy the day before, only 3 levels lower than the content!

Not having used a 2-handed melee weapon, I will vote "Not sure...but" and also point out weapons don't have a speed stat in ESO.

    1. Other than DK, classes don't have non-DoT, non-execute, insta-cast Spammable DD abilities. For this, they rely on their weapon abilities. From my experience with the various stamina based lines the 2 handed skills aren't as fantastic.

While it's still usable, it's not the best.

It needs to do far more than one-hand and shield to be profitable, it isn't.
The bow is almost as bad, but you can walk backwards peppering the enemy with a bow.
The Destruction Staff has a better set of passives, and some great abilities too.
And restoration staff is great for a supporting role.

Two handed weapons need to do more damage to make it truly balanced.
