GM Events

It would be cool if there were GM Events. Like GM controlled mobs or other random spawned harvesters and things. Everquest use to do this and it was a huge hit. A flood of Werewolves attacking an area.

in Age of Conan, they used Random Epic world bosses as well, where you needed like 24 people or more to beat it, and every could join, as long as u could get to the place without dying from mobs :)

they are running a 1year event/quest where you have to kill 12 world bosses on each month, and if u miss on, the quest just continues, its just 12 world bosses u need, but with at least one month between.

Great fun, and some of the "empty" maps, suddenly got full of people, and it gives one more great thing to the game, its a good way to show that the game aint really as empty as it feels some times

There's nothing that could possibly improve an MMO more.

In Asheron's call the eponymous wizard and his nemesis were both played in-game by people and it was amazing.

The head baddie would occasionally just show up in town and talk smack to the heroes who happened to be standing around but if provoked would wreck everyone worse than even the White Rabbit (I had a character named after that ***'s loot drop, but certainly never got to kill a GM-played character).

My guild leader logged off about 1 second before the first appearance of the head baddie appeared about 10' away and scared the bejesus out of me. I felt so bad he barely missed it that I never had to heart to tell him. His name was Yodasan, my first in-game sensei.

They could do this so incredibly easily with the daedric invasion. Or have a more powerful oblivion gate open in the cities. And if a dolmen stays unattended by the heroes for too long, then the daedra should get bored and venture outward, either solo or as a group.

dolmens sure need to be more threatening. it would be cool if a crap ton of high level daedra invaded the zone if dolmens were left un accounted for.

everquest and ultima online still do this all the time.

if those games, which have the budget of a potato, can do it why not this one? they are fun and exciting :)

I remember the first time I saw this in EQ1... was around 2000 or so, and the lizards in the Feerot near the entrance to Cazic Thule suddenly started -talking-, and when they attacked my group, it was obvious by what they were saying that they were GMs.

    It was -awesome-.

And of course there were massive 'raids' of undead where GMs would control the invader's leaders and talk smack to the players in shout... Totally awesome to see that kind of interaction, rather than facing an expected AI foe.

They could hire me and give me a separate character template that allowed me to create bosses/names. I would then pick random areas to "Spawn" and role play the boss/name and interact with the player base waiting to be killed.

Be funny to have a zone wide message that a mythical magical rabbit of yore has spawned somewhere in the zone. First one to find it and catch it wins an item. Would make it supper fast and after awhile I would have hundreds of players trying to catch me.

Once caught i would spawn a treasure chest for all with slightly better loot with a chance for uncommon special set items. The one who caught me would get the set item of legendary quality.

Or for the Trials I take control of a boss that has new abilities. I give the zone a shout with a role playing message to make them aware the boss is not normal and they have 1 hour to defeat me before I go poof.

With new abilities it would be harder for them as they wont know what im capable of. If they manage to kill me I drop a special set item that only comes from the special event.

There are endless possibilities though the coding could be endlessly complicated. It would create a buzz in the MMO community that would attract new players.

letting volunteer players do anything always turns out bad.

More trouble than it is worth.
Dear Sister, I do not spread rumors, I create them.

I agree which is why I stated Hire me instead of ill do it for free. If its considered a job (a fun one at that) then it has more safeguards on it. Be more of an in-game GM who handles the gm events inbetween catching botters and exploiters.
