Anarchy Online had a system where you could fill your bank and backpacks with more backpacks, so it was basically infinite.

Another complaint. You can't store containers in your bank in ESO.... worst inventory system ever. (Try putting the CE maps container in your bank).

It doesn't have to be unlimited. But it's pretty much industry standard to give each character on your account their own personal private bank account and then if the game is GOOD, a single shared bank account they can all use. Why zeni opted to implement ONLY the shared one is a mystery and completely ***
That is not true at all. If you have a database with a billion entries and you make a request it takes a lot more than for it to search a database with ten items. You are right when you say a matter of bandwidth and processing power and the more requests with the larger the database you require more of both. Both of those cost more money so that is managed by inventory space being limited.
There is no search involved if you request your inventory. The server knows where your data is. It's only a matter of bandwidth, and there is enough of that.

This pops up a lot. I guess some players except to keep everything. I think it's good to have limitations and be put in a position to manage things. I do every crafting profession and have room to store materials for all of them at every level tier and still have bank room to buy so I think there is a pretty good amount of space to work with.
My only issue with bank space is:
1. Potency Runes only stacking to 20 - they should go to 100 like everything else.
2. PvP machines should at least stack to like five or something in a guild bank.
3. Costumes/Disguises, Maps, & Trophies should not take up inventory spots.
That would make things a bit easier on most I think and still put players in a position to need to manage their inventory smartly.
Though... it does bug me that bank and inv don't end on even numbers. Why 110 and 240, why not 100 or 125 and 250.

Why is it "good" to have to be put in a position to manage our inventory and get rid of things that we want to keep?
Is this Elder Scrolls Online, or Inventory Manager Online?
I don't want to keep everything, but it'd be nice to be able to keep my trophies and rewards for my accomplishments, and still have a functional inventory. I don't see why that's a bad thing.

I think it's good (I realize not everyone does) because I don't think, on a public game, that players should get everything they want.
Some players do some things better than others, be it combat, leveling, finding gear, etc. same thing for inventory management - some will be better at it than others and if so, should be able to benefit in a way from that, even if it's just having more items handy b/c they were more organized.
As to the rest of your post, not sure if you read all of my post, but I addressed things like trophies and such that would make managing inventory better.

What? Some people are better at inventory management, so they should benefit from that??
What are you talking about?
Inventory management isn't one of the game objectives. How does me having more inventory space to horde all of my rewards and trophies have any affect on you what so ever?

You are still talking about rewards and trophies and I said in my first post I didn't think they should count as inventory space, so I don't see the need to argue about them.
As to the rest, the game has various objectives because it's an MMO, if there are limits on inventory, then management of said inventory is obviously one of them. You can't keep everything (and usually in any MMO you cannot).
Because when you've already spent nearly a million gold on bank space, you need to have it limited so "it limits your ability to do every craft." Lulz
When you figure it out, let us know.
Stupidest inventory system ever seen in an MMO.

but seriously how the hell is 240 spaces not enough, I'm v12 and only use 120, all my collectibles are on mules and "extra" crafts as well. I got 4 full sets of gear as well as 2-3 nearly full sets of trials gear just derping in my bags. lol
Why would any rational person put a limit on bank space you can buy?
It is one of the few gold sinks in this game.
After reaching 240 spaces in the bank no more?
Fairydragon3 wrote: »in what MMO is there unlimited bank space?
What MMO has like 400 different crafting mats, 50 trophies and allowed you to use every type of armor and weapon?
The only one I could think of is SWG and they gave you a large bank, allowed you to have10 houses that each could store like 200 items. Even in SWG to get as many crafting mats as they have here you would have to be keeping every crappy mat you would never bother to use.
Google, Amazon, Yahoo, etc are all just huge databases with billions if not trillions of entries all being accessed by millions of people at a time. Their stuff works. And, the Mega Server is built on the same technology that Amazon runs their stuff on. I would not be surprised if ZOS is leasing Server Capacity from Amazon for this game. (it's a business that Amazon does, leasing out their excess server capacity)
This is pretty much the same short list of tweaks I feel they need to make. Otherwise I don't have a problem with the inventory system as long as someone that knows how to maintain those addons that I rely on continues to do so! (I nearly quit when the X4D Bank author left, but found another addon to take it's place)This pops up a lot. I guess some players except to keep everything. Why you need shared tab and private tab? Is not diablo 2 game ;-). And its old style which doesn't solve a problem
