I'd prefer an actual PC over a laptop, but I'm easy (I'm playing from a Mac laptop currently and crashing aside it's fine, but the laptop isn't mine!).
I'm tempted to buy a pre-made system from here: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1411&zenid=c4123618e2474b3bcd2aabfa4d638f47 but I'm not sure which would be ideal. In terms of building a PC I have no experience but friends who can do so... I'm simply not sure how to go about getting parts and whatnot. I was told unless you can manage the computer and are tech savvy you're best bet is to simply buy a pre-made system with a warranty.. decisions decisions.

Just want to say thank you for the thread and the comments everybody. I've been wanting to build a PC for a while and I've been putting some funds aside. I plan on starting to buy components in the fall. Plenty of links to various sights here with information and tips. Thanks!
If you have friends that can build a system for you, then let them. I can not advice premade PC´s, the companies often use mediocre parts either the PSU, MB or GPU.
If you give us a budget we could look up the right parts for you, order them and invite a friend who then builds the PC for you.
You save about 20-30% of the money and get a better system than in most online shops.
