Pc Build, Opinions?

I'll take a read though this thread when I have some time tonight, but my PC recently broke and I'm hunting for a PC that can play ESO on max setting. I'd prefer an actual PC over a laptop, but I'm easy (I'm playing from a Mac laptop currently and crashing aside it's fine, but the laptop isn't mine!).

I'm tempted to buy a pre-made system from here: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1411&zenid=c4123618e2474b3bcd2aabfa4d638f47 but I'm not sure which would be ideal. In terms of building a PC I have no experience but friends who can do so... I'm simply not sure how to go about getting parts and whatnot. I was told unless you can manage the computer and are tech savvy you're best bet is to simply buy a pre-made system with a warranty.. decisions decisions.

PCCasegear rock. I've built my last three pc's from parts I ordered from them. I highly recommend them!

If you have friends that can build a system for you, then let them. I can not advice premade PC´s, the companies often use mediocre parts either the PSU, MB or GPU.

If you give us a budget we could look up the right parts for you, order them and invite a friend who then builds the PC for you.

You save about 20-30% of the money and get a better system than in most online shops.

Everyone and their brother is going to have a different idea on what you should get.

If you have a friend that knows what they are doing, as opposed to just thinking they know what they are doing, sit down with them and spell out everything you want the computer to do and what your willing to pay.

There are a lot of fan boys on here (and everywhere else) that believe Intel, or AMD, or Nvidia, or brand x is the best part for any piece in the system.

They are all wrong and all a little bit right.

Do your own research. HardOCP.com is a good site to see reviews and should you join the forums there are a whole lot of helpful people there, still some fan boys to deal with but they tend to be more honest about it there.

Intel or AMD Cpu will drive your system just fine and get you where you want to go. AMD or Nvidia Gpu will also do the same. I like Asus boards and lots of Ram/storage.

You can see what I am partial to at the bottom of my post. Most people do not want or need to have quite so many parts and pieces it does however sute me.

Just want to say thank you for the thread and the comments everybody. I've been wanting to build a PC for a while and I've been putting some funds aside. I plan on starting to buy components in the fall. Plenty of links to various sights here with information and tips. Thanks!

Buy what you want, asking for and taking advise is always a good idea, in the end, make your own decisions no matter how insistent some people get about certain brands.

I could spend $50,000.00 building a single system, it would still be aging in 3 years, old in five and people would complain about it not being perfect (to their ideal).

    1. If you get a SSD get a Crucial MX100, they are super cheap(Understatement) and as fast as mid-high end SSD's.
    2. 8gb ram is enough
    3. even 770 & 780gtx's fall to 30-40fps in cyrodil.
    4. currently ESO is only utalizing 2 cpu cores, so an i7 would be all but useless as its main benefit is having additional cores, which wouldent be used by ESO.

Keep in mind 4k resolution will be mainstream, within the next 5 years most pc gamers will either have one or be looking to buy one.
4k resolution will use alot more GPU Ram than HD ones.
Definitely look for 4gb+ in any gpu you buy if you plan on keeping this pc around for years.

As it stands I was going to sink about $1600 Australian into it (just the PC, not the monitor etc etc). I know that' not enough for a super fancy gaming beast, but I just want to play ESO on it and I'm a student, so money is always fun. I was tempted to get http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1411&products_id=28316 as a friend said it will handle ESO well.. but I'm open to suggestion.
