this has been an issue for me for about a month i have a mid range pc it's nothing special but it's run the game pretty well. A possible quick fix is pressing ESC once or twice. Running eso.exe at high priority stop the occasional freeze and client perfomance has improved so now i only need above normal. Also you can close the launcher once the game is running.

Separate issues are being unable to use skills in combat at random intervals and not being able to weapon swap this is particularly amusing because the it displays a message saying cant swap weapons now .

i'll be running in one direction ill go to turn or stop and just keep going, for me i then get continuous beeping. It's seems to get worse in high intensity situations and when im in a group . I thought i'd fixed it but went in auriels bow EU and it was horrible 10 second abilty lag it was totally unplayable.

I've tested the game with and without add-ons and with each individual add-on one at a time and the results are the same.

Part of the issue is to do with sticky keys and filter keys which are in the ease of access centre in windows 7. So go in and turn everything off personally i disabled the registry edit value for ease of access to stop it working.

As well :

i've de-fragmented my hard drive

cleaned the registry

used the launcher repair function,

Did a system restore

unintstalled the client and performed a clean boot and reinstalled.

Cleared my cache and deleted temp files

ran /flushdns and /sfc in cmd window.

checked the hard disk for errors.

updated all drivers including nvidia graphics and did windows update

deep scan with AVG and malware antibytes

Turned off microsoft services like search and error reporting.

Tried with latest nvidia driver and the beta

Tested on low setting with and without VSYNC.

Also ran without shadows and ambient occlusion etc

set nvidia 3d setting to ensure maximum performance.

Uminstalled microsoft and keyboard centre.

Uinstalled and re-installed drivers for keyboard and mouse.

Stopped programs and processes in background which may impact performance

Ran the eso.exe in compatibility for windows xp service pack 3

Edited usersetting.txt to run dx9 instead off dx11

Changed theme to window basic - aero disabled no desktop background.

Uninstalled other games and unused programs

Changed power setting to maximum performance

Reset router checked internet setting

Rang my ISP (BT) to see if my network has any issues

Forwarded the correct ports for eso

Installed and ran driver booster free

A response from zenimax would be greatly appreciated. It would seem to indicate that the issue is client side as it persists on pc and mac. I thought it was just me until i saw this post

This is actually a very old bug and has been in the game since Head Start. It is caused by a Client / Server synchronization failure. There is NOTHING you can do about it on the client end to prevent it.

I have the exact problem .. Sometimes log in/out doesn't fix it so now if it happens I quit and resign in.. Its a pain but a quicker fix then trying everything else and then quitting and signing back on.. It doesn't happen a lot but it does happen

Yes, same problem here , haven't tried all the solutions suggested by the OP, it's usually just ESC ESC or completely sign out and back in.

It occasionally affects skills firing, but more usually just means my char can't move, I can access the UI, every button works except WASD

ok went into pvp auriels bow eu and problem is fixed. Did a good 3 hrs solid pvp
bashed buttons and making sure that it was fixed. No loss of control at all.

I don't exactly what main cause was except than it's one of the above steps. It more than likely to be a combination of factors. Tbh i was near quitting because i want to pvp and not being able to control my character made it impossible and not fun.

I had occasional issue with this prior to the last couple of patches. the continuous movement thing always happened either near cliffside, into a meeting of the Daedra Worshippers, local 223, or right as my group member, direly in need of a heal, watches me go strafing by like some kind of Vaudeville act.

It wasn't a Windows issue. It was definitely on ESO side.

It was the client / server command sync mentioned above. I'm hopeful that it has gone away for good.

Sadly, it has not gone away. I still get it every now and then. My static duo playing partner, more often. It seems to be most prevalent when one uses a charge or jump into the fight mechanic.
