Block his attacks more? I had no trouble keeping him at range and just sprinting/dodging away when he did his body slam special.

Generally, unless you're doing something weird, he will used ranged attacks on you if you're at range, and he'll only close the distance for that special attack.

As others have said movement is key.

I am a vr1 sorcerer and had no trouble beating him. My stats are 20 Magica 29 Health 0 Stamina. Unless you are a melee Sorcerer, I do not see any reason for the 11 Stamina. The skills I used were Regen, Crystal Fragments, Endless Fury, Dark Deal, and Clanfear.

I circled around the outer edge, keeping the rock formations between me and Molag Bal, using endless fury until crystal fragments popped. I used clanfear as a distraction, I'm not even sure it was needed. When the Titan's spawn, block. Their attacks will reflect back and kill them in 1 or 2 hits. Keep moving, using sprint to evade his AoE attacks, and dodge when he jumps. When he jumped, I went straight across to the other side of map and continued circling.

When needed,I used Dark Deal behind a rock formation to recover Health and Magica. You do not have to channel the full 4 seconds to recover health and magica. Just 1 or 2 seconds is enough to recover and keep moving.

Most important, fire and movement is key. You have to be able to move and attack at the same time. You will die if you do not move.

I beat him on my Sorc using a Resto staff + bound armor (not sure i even needed this mind you) + the self regen heal on resto staff + block + alot of stamina for sprinting around. I did not use anything else, no weapon swopping, no potion drinking, no pets, that's it.

In hindsight, i COULD have used more DPS spells , but i was having a nice routine going there. If i had to use spells too, it would most certainly be instant cast ones.

All i did was literally, attack Molag with the staff , block whatever he throws at me and move out of his AOE-jump . Everytime he landed, i would sprint away and hit him with my resto staff inbetween his bouts of soul throwing.

The bunch of dragons came early in the fight which required a bit more concentration , but i'm sure you know all you do there is block their blue balls of fire, it reflects straight back at them. So they died quite fast, i'm not sure there is any faster way to kill them than blocking.

The entire rest of fight was me keeping distance between me and Molag , i was NEVEr in any melee range of him. The fight took awhile, but yet i was never in any danger of dying either , as my only damage was from my resto staff. If i got hit i simply healed myself with the resto staff heal (while running out of any red circles).

I totally forgot to even use my ultimate. The thing with the resto staff heavy attack is , it's a constant beam/channel that kinda locks onto the mob, whereas say destro staff is balls of fire/ice/lightning or a Bow is arrow that can miss and require more targeting. It is also simply more visible, you can see you are hitting Molag (the animation lag on the EU server makes other ranged weapons rather annoying to use).

I also had the passive that increase resto dps, so i wasn't doing any less damage than on a destro staff.

It also helps if you got a good surplus of stamina and stamina regen, for blocking and sprinting. That was the only stat that was taxed. I rarely used my mana (only for healing) and my health rarely dropped below 80% (again, i had a constant regen heal on me anyway).

I must add, i don't do this dodge thing, i SPRINT and it works perfectly, i have more control and can keep a lock on the target much easier.

Been awhile but IIRC there is a rock formation in the middle of that room? I seem to recall keeping the terrain objects in between him and I as I slowly chipped away at him, was a long fight.

Definitely not a run in and burst damage/up in his face kinda fight (at least for me it wasn't), so use the geometry around you and poke at him when you can...and watch those red circles, run when the approach.

Thanks everybody. I think part of my problem is that I use the Volatile Familiar and Twilight Matriarch a lot and neither seem to do much in this fight. My dependence on them may also mean my Resto Staff level isn't high enough.

I beat Molag Bal with ease. I was VR1 pure heal Templar. Full light armor. I used a Resto Staff and Mutagen was the only heal I needed. He barely did any damage. Just used heavy attacks, flare and solar barrage. I didn't even feel he did much damage when he attacked me. I dodged his power attacks. I didn't even need to block.

As someone mentioned, there is a rock formation in middle, try to stay out of line of sight as much as you can, he will have to teleport/jump then, and you can see where he will appear to attack you.
Keep moving around, all time,always facing middle of room, just go in circles so you can see what is going around you.
If he cast something you cant avoid, dodge roll or sprint, and use rocks again.
Try equipping restoration staff and 1 (or more) healing abilities. Use heavy attack when you running out of magicka, and heal yourself if you failed to avoid aoe attacks.
Fight is really too easy for end of story big bad boss. Some earlier encounters in game are far more difficult then this one.

Whew i beat him tonight. First though i re-allocated my attributes and magica. My health dropped some but I kept running and eventually wore him down. Wasn't as easy for me as for others but a lot of fun. I'm still loving this game.

Yeah I just ran around him with a bow. Not the most fun I had xD

Molag sounds like he's an easy boss to conquer once at your correct experience level folks!

I did him like I do all the mobs until v1.1 hits the server.

Shield bashed him until he dropped dead. I didn't even bother dodging most AOEs.
