So, how can this be fixed? (The Wolfhound Crisis) (VERY LONG)

    7. Everyone who wants, buy another game and get 30 days of subscription time plus the dog.

That's the way it should be handled.

They way it should be handled, and the exact wording on the promotion page says it comes with the purchase of the Imperial Edition. Look at that, I am the owner of the Imperial Edition.

FFXIV handled a situation exactly like this by adding it as a bonus to players who owned the game.

What crisis do you speak of? I could literally care less about some random in game companion that some people have access to and others don't. Entitlement mentality at it's worst.

@DeLindsay Well, for the whole "The Wolfhound Crisis" title, I just thought the name sounded catchy, so I threw it up there.

Alot of people seem to be misunderstanding my reasoning for this thread. There were alot of threads popping up in regards to this pet being Steam exclusive, so I made this thread, came up with a list of reasons, tried to work logic and reasoning into it, worked through all the possible solutions I thought of, and discussed it a bit.

The whole point was to try and come up with a solution to make everyone happy with the situation with the pet. I personally am disappointed, but not to the point of being "/emo" or "unsubbing" as was said in earlier posts.

And that's literally my point. It's unbelievable that sooooooo many threads would be made with some yelling in anger at ZoS over a stupid campanion pet. It's not really any different irl unfortunately. If some movie theatre was offering $1.00 off popcorn last month and people bring in an obviously expired newspaper, they sure as hell still expect their $1.00 off. You can even point out that the coupon expired and they just look at you with that blank stare of stupidity.

I don't understand all that whine, its the same whine at WOW with pets there. Seriously guys, its a cosmetic pet - it doesn't do anything.

If you seriously get hurt by such a cosmetic goodie, it might be a wise idea to ask yourself if you might not take gaming a bit to serious. Look at our world, we are close to a big war and all people cry about is a few pixels in a video game - just disgusting.

    What war? XD

@SG_Celerrimus, first I apologise for referring to your OP as an "/emo rant", TBH I had several threads open at the time and I confused yours and another when replying.

I see the discussion you're trying to prompt but, with respect, you're pissing in the wind, this whole eruption of emo-rants simply shows how disconnected many people are from reality.

I said there's nothing broken that needs fixing and I repeat that. This is a product promo, as happens in real-life, and the outrage from the over-entitled is impossible to argue with as it's based on an irrational greed that simply won't be reasoned with.

So, sorry for mis-characterising your own contribution, I fear your attempt at a reasoned debate is doomed however.

I don't believe that I have been refuted, nor even that I made a statement of fact which could be refuted.

I join a gym, three months later the gym has a promotion with a local sporting goods store, buy your gym membership at the store and you get a free t-shirt; I'm not seeing where I would have cause to be upset that existing members are not given a t-shirt, even if that specific t-shirt were not available for purchase outside of the promotion. Obviously in this case the promotional item is virtual and therefore not limited in quantity, but still.

    yup

A lot of you are missing the point here, as I said In an earlier post it is an utter betrayal that their most loyal subbers are overlooked for new players when it is the vet players who have been begging for a dog but now only new players get it? Imagine you being the older sibling and always wanted a puppy but your parents always said no but then your younger sibling gets one without even asking, doesn't feel good does it?

@SG_Celerrimus, i guess i got it all wrong then. My apologies. Still IMO they shouldn't do anything about it now. Dog was promised as an exclusive item for steam customers so if it will pop up as a quest reward or in cash shop it will probably *** them off. People will stop using the pet in a week and everyone will forget about it's existance anyways.

Funny how people say the Steam users will never be able to play any race in any alliance. Yeah, I mean it's not that you can buy the Explorer's Pack in several stores online or anything like that. Even my friend, who bought the game a bit more than a month ago in a shop, got an edition with key in it so even some shops still have the keys.

Also, some people say they don't care about the pet, that's fine, but I bet if ZOS said anyone who writes an email or a ticket will get a dog, most of such people would write immediately as well.

So So So wrong. Most of us deleted the pets to make bank space. Why the hell would we want more of the useless things.

So no, please dont have bloody dogs and wolves stand everywhere and block my way and trip me up please

I have the imperial edition since early release and think apart from the horse the rest you get with it is junk.

    My opinion, no hard feelings.

Right?? And these freaking summoners with their stupid flying monkeys flapping in your face at the bank! Arghhh! Show some courtesy people, please.

First, you can't be sure the EP CAN be added to the Steam account but assuming you can your observation fails at what you posted it for as it equally applies to new non-Steam accounts.

Those pointing out this Steam offer doesn't include the EP feature are perfectly correct, because they're replying to ignorant posters who are whining that the Steam offer DOES include it, which patently it doesn't.

That is right, I cannot be sure and you cannot be sure of the opposite either. In another thread, someone wrote you can still add a beta key (apparently there are still quite a lot hanging around there on the Internet) and still receive the monkey and that everyone should try that.

If it is the case and you can add a beta key to an over 3 month old game, why couldn't you add a preorder key as well to the game sold on a different market?

I love vanity pets, cute little creatures that follow my cha around, but last thing I want or need is a whopping big vanity pet, half the size of my cha getting in the way... let alone a ton of said pet, following everyone.

pets and followers are bad enough already for standing in the way, when you click to loot something.

So, what can ZOS do to amend this situation so everyone walks away happy, or discontent is lessened down?

Simple, make the thing available to everyone. Here is the question that should have been asked by ZOS before they decided on this avenue:

Do new buyers of an existing game do so because of some exclusive deal that only they get?

No, they buy the game because they want to play the game. Offering the Pet to everyone would not have hurt the new sales stream, and would have not upset the existing subscribers.
