Does the vanity pet really bug you?

Must refrain from pointing out the butthurt. Aw hell! :o What are we 10?!? D
I am amazed at how many people this actually bothers. I don't even use the vanity pets that I have.

I've actually started leaving my pets from Beta on my characters again now that I have enough backpack space to spare one slot. I like my money. Monkeys are smarter than dogs! B)

    You just gave me an idea what to do with my really great collected stuff.Thank you. :}

If Steam users got a new skill line that I don't get, then yeh I'd be upset. Really, are you people going insane over a cosmetic pet?

It seems so..... funny thing is I don't ever see people running around with pets....

Maybe that's cos we dont like being seen with our crabs.

I am upset, but not over the pet itself. It's the principle of what they did that upsets me - those of us loyal customers who stuck with Zenimax through everything (I've been here since launch) have no way of getting literally the only pet most of us ever wanted, just because we didn't wait three months and buy through Steam at a discount, which, mind you, wasn't an option we knew we had.

In the end, I answered 'yes' because I am upset, but it's not just about the dog.

Everything about this situation STINKS. Restricting imperial race, restricting play-any-race-with-any-faction, these pets: it's disgusting marketing policy of Zeni, and it will remain that way no matter what we - the privileged - think.

Not a Yes or No question to me. Vanity pets tied in with promotionals are fine IF other vanity pets are available in some form to active players. Doesn't even have to be the same as the promotional item.

Dog doesn't bug me that much. Might be nice if one of my characters was living as a sort of hunter. Pig does bug me a bit. Would have liked the pig.

That's another stupid design choice of Zeni's. Pets should be listed in character sheet or in some separate ability list and be ready to be spawned with a single click. But... well... it's Zeni.

As a veteran MMO player, no.

Its normal industry behavior. There are still peope thinking of buying the game, but are undecided. So you throw them a bone, so to speak.

As for pig - again quite normal to get exclusive stuff at conns. Just look at Blizz. 100$ ticket ( or more, not sure ) for Blizzcon where you get free stuff and free awsome pet that you can get only on Blizzcon. They reward you for having money to go there !

But, its good this is the most pressing issue. Because that means core game is in good condition. So people get worked up about meaningless stuff.

It would be cool to have a dog in-game, but vanity pets are useless. They do nothing for you if your character is in a scrap. The two I have are in the bank, where they will remain.

    I'd prefer a war dog.

I have the Imp package, and the palomino.
    I play ADs.
    I only play ADs.
I have the crab in my email only because I hope someday I can reskin or give it away, but I expect to be reincarnated, first.

If I give back the crab, can I have a refund on the pet and all the other races I have no desire/intention to play?

I'll take it in the form of bank slots, K?Thnxbai.

    Edit for misplaced punctuation.

No, but it raised an interesting discussion about loyalty rewards. And while I don't think even loyalty rewards are needed, other games have had huge positive feedback from their player bases regarding their versions of loyalty rewards - so ZOS adding them could be an easy win. Especially considering the uproar over the steam exclusive dog.

One of the things SWTOR did well IMO was to grant titles. They're useless for anything other than making folks feel special.

And they don't clog the landscape with useless pets.

You got months of access to the game, and a lot of free time on the beta. You got all the perks that came with your pre-order.

Would you also like a fruit basket?

Yeah, and Swtor's pets were on a special page, not clogging up your inventory. That was one thing SWTOR did that was incontravertably right, I rarely had the pets out, but they were there if I wanted them.

I never bought any titles, but I did get the Revan's heir one, by playing on the anniversary of the original Kotor Game (25th anniversary I think).

It's not about the pet, it's about screwing early supporters over. No steam integration for those who didn't buy through steam, as well as new exclusive content for new subscribers buying the same damn product we paid for. This basically says zenimax doesn't care about the people who have been with them from the start.

I think we may all be missing the genius that is ZOS marketing. Look at how many are upset over this, but what if this was supposed to happen. Now, they can release a dog stuffed animal (we'll call him Rexus), give a key that will award it in-game as well, make loads of profit, and all will be well.

Honestly who didn't pick saving the keep over the docks in Bal Foyen to help poor Rexus.
On second thought, let's not go to the forums. 'Tis a silly place.

It doesn't bug me as such, just makes me sigh at the lack of foresight of the Zen marketing team, surely it was glaringly obvious that existing customers who have stayed faithful throughout all the bugs might have been just a little bit peeved.

Reminds me of car insurance, get renewal quote and gulp at how high it is, ring up pretending to be a new customer and get a significantly cheaper quote and free recovery etc.

This would be fine with me. The Rexus plushie can keep my guar company. Money for them, pets for me.

And I totally picked the keep to help Rexus.

Yeah! The same way that when I see Best Buy offer a sale on an item I bought months ago, I get upset that they aren't mailing me a gift certificate to make up for it. Because that's a totally reasonable reaction to a sale.
