Does the vanity pet really bug you?

Simple, I see so many people complaining.... they bought the game when it first came out so they don't get the "vanity" (Strictly Visual) dog pet..... how sad.... you do however have access to all races for all factions. This is something new players will NEVER get or atleast not in the foreseeable future. Is it such a big deal really? I'm sure they will come out with multiple pets, multiple dogs of different colors.

I just wanted to make the poll to see how many people are truly upset by this. You either are or you arent. (We are talking strictly dog pet, not what it can lead to or become)

This is exactly what I'm thinking..... they don't think long term, most people are thinking about "me" and "now". It's just the VR system changes.... so it wasn't right for some of us still playing the game.... in the future it will be much better for the game and community. This pet is a small promotional item and I'm sure other dogs will be available in the future.

It doesn't really bug me, but as I've said several times in other threads, its BAD customer service.

It's a stupid dog and I won't actually use it anymore than I use my dumb crab or... well whatever the hell the other pet I got is. However, noob Steam sub'ers shouldn't get ANY exclusive content that the Imperial Edition or Beta tester are not also given.

Neither the pig or the dog bother me at all, nor does the game being on steam. I've been part of many games that have done this before. It does warm the cockles of my heart to see certain individuals blowing a gasket over it though.

I never made a game but i can honestly say I could promote one 100000x better just by NOT doing everything Zenimax has done.

its the point behind the slap.....you dont spit on the people that paid your check all this time...and provide arguably the coolest perk in the game at 1/2 price and then offer that to the "NEW" people.

Beta players got a Monkey, Non-Beta players Didn't. Steam players got a Dog (till the 21st), Non-Steam players don't. Quakecon attendees get a Pig, Non-Attendees don't. Next thing you guys will be wanting is my Statue and Lore Book. Get over it already.

Don't forget, people that buy the guar plushie get a guar pet and those that don't buy it don't get it either. It's amazing how there was nothing on the wow forums about the mini tyreal or diablo when they were available only to select players. I guess we're just lucky to have these forum graced by certain individuals.

I see your point. However, I don't think that the beta monkey, the preorder scuttler, or the Quakecon pig should be exclusive either. My opposition to the wolfhound is opposition to all exclusive vanity pets.

The guar is a different issue. Anybody can buy the guar, it's not exclusive. It's like being pissed about the Palomino horse, when you have the option to buy it. I'm not CHOOSING to forgo the dog. I'm denied the dog in the first place.

I have 3 monkeys, 3 little guar things at least that what I think that's what they are, and 6 mudcrabs; back when the bank reset on me twice. They're all hold up on a mule untouched since I got them and most likely will get the delete button before I ever use them. Even if I get this dog the same thing is going to happen, it's a waste of space unless they make it like a companion NPC follower that you can summon without using up inventory space.

I would like a wolf, they're adorable in this game.

You aren't being denied anything. If you want the dog you can buy it on steam.

And completely restart accounts? Losing 3.5 months of progress, completely invalidating the near $100 I paid for the pre-ordered Imperial Edition in the first place?

If I could buy the dog on Steam and have it on MY account, I would. Since we can't merge accounts, I think it's silly to expect players to get rid of months of playtime.

First off, with all of the promotional gimmicks out there in the industry, getting upset over others getting a vanity pet is just plain sad.

And? you aren't being denied the chance to purchase it. You're just upset you can't have it on your main account. That does not equate to being denied the chance to purchase it. People are denied the chance to obtain the monkey now. Most people are denied the chance for the scuttler unless they manage to hunt down the explorer pack from a third party retailer. People are denied the chance to get the pig unless they went to quakecon or buy a code off someone. But again you are not being denied the chance to obtain the dog.

"Main" account? There shouldn't be "main" accounts. One account, one subscription.

Regarding the other vanity pets, yes, some are being denied purchase. I don't think they should.

For those baffled and confused why so many are upset over the dog but not other pets it is because many of the loyal subscribers asked specifically multiple times for a dog pet, now new subs get one before us, its just a bit of a slap in the face. On top of the MANY other issues we have experienced over the past month, most players are just tired of being taken advantage of and have a right to be. for those trying to say if you want the dog buy it on steam.....it is locked to a new account meaning 3 months+ of work goes down the drain for a dog, players want it but not that much lol. There is no loyalty reward system with this game so far, and instead of say working on making their current player base happy they have decided to alienate some members to draw in new ones. If this was a F2P brilliant tactic go for it but its not we are returning customers every month, you have to keep your player base happy. The marketing team has made all of the wrong decisions lately and now it is starting to backfire.

As an additional note that I brought up in a few other threads, if the devs had say made the vanity pets a Loyalty Reward then vwala they make players happy, still encourages new members to come play because 1 the game is 50% cheaper and 2. they can still get the cool pet eventually by playing. Having the pet be some super exclusive thing for new players only is not going to keep them. If they really wanted to make money they would think long term, keep player base happy but they appear to be determined to go f2p with a cash shop for money.

If giving out 2 vanity pets is the reason this many people are upset.... the wrong people are playing the game. The team is doing a great job at keeping me happy and rewarding me with new content and new changes to the game constantly...... I'm sure in time they will reward me with an optional dog vanity pet that I can purchase or earn. To say this is backfiring on them is a bit dramatic.

I honestly can't believe people are more upset over a vanity pet when the game has much more important things that you should be upset over. Their is a loyalty system..... you pay for more months, you get a discount.... you keep playing the game they reward you for your loyalty and you continue to get farther and are "rewarded" with more content.

What's funny about that, the pet monkey was exclusive to that one weekend and then they made it available to all the additional stress tests. That peeved me a bit.

Nah. Look at the secret world. I loved that game, got a lifetime membership on a Monday. Then Wednesday it went f2p. No refund, sorry, f to the you, nothing. So I don't pay attention to these small rip off anymore. I kind of expect them now. Just wait till next year, new players start at vet level 20 and get bonus yellow gear for buying the game on steam. . . Lol
