Multiple sizes of houses including mansions to show off your status, provide more hookpoints, etc. for storage and utility.
Consignment merchants you can hire for your porch.
Hmmmmm.... DAOC strikes again as having done so many things right!

Putting in land that players have to bid on to build their house would be amazing, charge a weekly tax to keep the house on the land. If you fail to pay the tax you will be evicted and the land will be up for auction again. This would eliminate players from buying land then unsubbing blocking the ability to buy on a piece of land. Of course have your house layout saved if such occurred so if you choose to buy another piece of land you wont have to start from scratch, give an option to players who would prefer to start over though. One major issue would be not ALL players could have their own house, but it would be something players would have to earn to show off their status.

Really good idea, but I think the payment should be small each month, just a token amount that you have to pay in person, (by mail) in order to do what you suggest.
How would this be effected by phasing though?
Rage. Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus' son Achilles,
murderous, doomed, that cost the Achaeans countless losses,
hurling down to the House of Death so many sturdy souls…
- Mountable throphies from mobs
- A small, personal store/kiosk to sell own goods
- garden to grow alchemy-ingredients/food
- "Recall/teleport"-option to own house
- New items to construct (wood/blacksmithing=furniture, cloth=drapes, rugs, curtains
- Ability to "bind" more than one person to a house
- Storage
That seems a lot like Wildstar, which isn't a bad thing since it's the best part of that game. But I would embrace any housing concept that included more storage!
-Instanced houses dotted around the map - not single 'neighbourhoods' which often end up empty, but houses included in the existing living landscape instanced to the owner.
Note that it isn't Instanced either....

Hahaha. Yes, looks awesome as a fresh, new game with all that spare land to go around. Wait six months. Derelict houses, empty villages, all kinds of ghost towns and "ugly houses" litter the landscape.
SWG-style housing, anyone? Yeah, running along the land PACKED full of houses and entire cities that no one used was so much fun. Especially the constant rubber banding because the houses and everything in it was loaded all at the same time whether you had access to the inside or not.
