Love the limited polls based upon OP bias. I voted "I like it" because I haven't actually seen it yet or gotten hands on, and with out hands on first person any opinion made is utterly pointless and baseless.

Well as some of you know I am a Dev, though I don't work for ESO. So let me tell you what the issue is here:

    * These armor sets, you can tell by looking at them can only be dyed in 1 maybe 2 layers maximum. It is an obviously and exceedingly lacking dye system.

So those of you hoping to make your Shredder armor look more appealing... Your out of luck, as that armor is a 4 layer armor minimum.

    * If I am incorrect in the above statements and the armors only have 1-2 layers (which that might be the case looking at the dweemer set....) Then that simply means that all the armor in ESO is some of the lowest quality designed armor in the entire MMO industry (Even WoW armor is 3-4 layers, and it's... ewww) and ESO should be ashamed for ever letting it out of the QC room.

Look I'm going to be honest ZOS, I know your working hard, I know you want to give players some of what they desire. but this half ass BS has to stop. Stop introducing what is obviously garbage half assed crap.

Wait, get it right, and give us some QUALITY product.

Trust me.. it will be worth it.

I thought you ran a private server on WoW? Or did you go in to game development after that? It's so hard to keep track.

The dye system looks fine in its execution, and the armor already looks good (definitely up to the standards of prior ES games). The only issue is how bright some of the coloring is. The fact that they were able to make those superhero duplicates is concerning to me. I don't want to see towns full of people in awful, garish colors just because they want the game to look more like Wildstar.

    After.

The wow server was back in.. 2005?,06/07? That period. I didn't get into development till later. But I am by no means a coder (beyond rudimentary knowledge), though I can write Lua and do some C++ I hate it.

I am a concepts guy, and work with Immersion, and design/layout. Armor design QA is actually one of the roles I fill among others (Though unfortunately I don't have as much say as I'd like, but that's the rough I suppose), but the game I work on is not out yet, I can't tell you what it is but I can say it is an MMO, and it's made by the same people responsible for Halo. :P

Being such, and seeing how great this game could be, then seeing the *** quality that's released for some of this stuff really bothers me. So I apologize for my rants.

I may be biased though, the company I work for's primary goal is quality above all else, both in design and function, I mean you (The company I work for) tell the fans your game will have a minimum of a 25 year lifespan, with the intention of doubling that from launch forward..... You better be able to Fulfill those promises.

They should put in as many colours from as many palettes as possible. Let the people choose. I think that is always the best option in an mmo.

    Otherwise, to quote the Simpsons:

Little Girl: Can I play with it?
Professor Frink: No you can't play with it, you won't enjoy it on as many levels as I do... Mm-hai bw-ha whoa-hoa.

Check out the video in the other thread, the dye system actually looks good when presented in it, rather then in these clown images.

Hey, look, everybody! It's yet another crappy, biased poll on the ESO forum. Imagine that!

Seriously, 7 different answers, 5 of which are negative and only one of which appears to be nuanced (but really isn't, it's just a different way of restating the OP's negative opinion).

well, of course it does look good if you do it good. but--- to expect from people to choose 'the right' colours would be rather naive.

Having the dye ability is cool. Turning ESO into WoW or WS is not. Give color choice and many cool designs but keep the long running ES palette.

This.. really scares me because it looks like the kind of designs, color patterns my 3 year old daughter colors in her coloring books.......

It's a demonstration to show variation of the system. The characters are clearly based on Iron Man, Hawkeye, Wonder Woman, Capt America and Poison Ivy. It's just a bit of a joke.

this would not surprise me. this gold skinned abomination seems to enjoy the sight of grinded flesh. pink would suit well his heretical delusions.

Does no one remember the bright yellow/red robe in Morrowind? Iridescent mole crab helm? Generally, colors are muted, but there has been some outlandish and gaudy gear in the previous games.

It's fine, just like any other game that has a dye system you can use it as a visual filter for ***.

Btw, not sure you put enough negative options in the poll, it's hard to see your bias op /sarcasm

I've both modded and used a lot of mods in the Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind. Now, I'm a code monkey and not an artist, but I struggle to see those artists I've worked with on mods put anything out like these screenshots.

Customisation is great. Dyes are a good idea. However, these look simply ridiculous. How on earth did they get past the art director, or were they simply steamrollered by marketing? Come on, TES has always prided itself on its fantastic, yet grounded in reality art direciton.

Don't get me started on dyed items being automatically bound to account. If you want a guild uniform outside of the tabbard, everyone better have all the same achievements. Dyes are touted as a way to make such a uniform in the latest marketing video - but that's simply not true.

I'm also curious as to how many of those who voted in this poll have actually played around with the dyes on the PTS?

I don't like it at all.
I only approve of dyes if the colors are very muted, subdued, and realistic. If neon-colored characters start littering the landscape, it'll be a constant source of annoyance. In that case I'd be likely to quit, unless they also implement an option where I can disable the visual effect of dyes so that armor appears in original colors to me.
