Broken Game - No Support - Hope this is temporary

I read the plans for update 3 and beyond for ESO and believed this was my 1 game to rule them all. I just canceled my beginner subscription to Wildstar this morning following through with that decision.

So, I go to play ESO. I get in the game but get stuck on the loading screen for the character I chose. Then I hard crash the game using Task Manager and restart and get error 200. I restart the game, error 200. I restart my computer, error 200. I attempted to contact support online, the site is down. I called the support phone number and have been placed on permanent hold for over half an hour (while writing this and making more failed attempts to log in). So, I now have a subscription to a game I can't play and with literally (at least for this morning, not figuratively) non-existent support!

    The tech support forum has a sticky on error types and workarounds for many of them.

    I'm not sure what number you're calling, but if you want to talk to someone on the phone, you use the support form to request the call. Or you can have them contact you via e-mail. I've had incredibly fast turnaround times on all my support tickets (although I've never tried to get help on a Sunday).

    But anyway, follow the links here instead of trying to call a number that they don't have on the support page. Odds are, there's a reason it's not there. And as of this post, that page is perfectly functional. Try switching browsers if you can't see it.

    EDIT: Did you search through the support archives at all? I found this by searching for error 200. https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3844/kw/error 200

    Thanks for the comment.

    I checked that sticky. The last work around was in beta not live. There is no workaround at present, just to wait as the authentication server is supposedly down or to contact support. The support server is presently down.

    In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps that may help:
    • Check for updates
    • Run ESO as administrator
    • Add eso.exe, the launcher, and account.elderscrollsonline.com as exceptions to your firewall and anti-virus programs

    Two problems with your suggestion, for this error it just says it is a server time out and to wait or contact supprot. The last work around was in beta not live. I checked. The second problem is that I had to get that information elsewhere because the support server is presently down.

    This really sounds like a connection issue on your computer, because the support site is most definitely not down, and the linked workaround was updated this month. I'd try following the directions there, since that will likely be the first thing they ask you to try anyway.

    Interesting. My connections are fine. Download and upload speeds excellent, just tested. I can go to any other site fine. However, I click on the support tab and just watch the little circle go around and around then Chrome telling me they can't load the site.

    Maybe restart your rooter if the problem persists. I had it before having connections problems resolved by unplugging my rooter and back.

    Kayira, that is something to consider. For future reference, I think you mean "router", but I understand. Thanks for the suggestion. Like I said in another post above, going for a walk and hoping this is resolved or I have heard from support by the time I get back. Thanks!

    Using Google Chrome atm, just went to the support page, tested all the links, they are working fine for me.

    I'm UK based, if that's of any relevance :D

    Update. First, I realize this post should be in the support forum. Sorry. I have tried some of the things suggested, rebooting router, making sure ESO and Launcher were clear to go through my firewall. I have made an advance. I am no longer receiving error 200, now I am getting error 201. I hope I can get the game working with fixes to error 201 (and I don't just go back to receiving error 200).

    As to the staff response above. I have not received an email from customer service yet. Everything is updated, I opened my firewall to the executable files and ran in administrator mode, and still can't play the game. I get error 201. Will start troubleshooting that now.

    Check for viruses on your system.
    You should have posted this in the Customer Support forum. Last week, I tried to load a character and got an unknown error. I posted in Customer Support forum and got a reply 3 minutes later in which the moderator had made a ticket and forwarded it to tech support. It was fixed the next time I logged in.

    Another hour has passed and no solution. I have tried everything short of uninstalling and re-installing the game.

    Now there is another post on this board from someone with similar problems.

    Still no contact from customer support.

    have you submitted one of those callback tickets? That seems to be the only way I get anything done tbh. One time it took them about an hour to call me back, but every other time it has been much faster.

    Are your Comcast west coast? If so, it's an ISP issue affecting more than one MMO. Just started today and probably temporary.

    Game and support site are back for me.

    For whatever reasons the game and support site were down this morning. Dominoid, though a West Coast Comcast User only the ESO game and Support site were affected for me. WoW, Guild Wars 2 and Wildstar were accessible as was every other web site but the ESO support site.

    Silver lining - I got to see the end of regulation and the extra periods for the World Cup so got to see the near goals by Argentina and Germany then the winning goal by Germany.
