Why do I feel like this game needs a lot more 'rewards' given for the hard work we do?

I understand that this is only a game, but I also understand how stressful it can be, and how dedicated some players are to it.

When I complete a boring long quest, I expect a nice reward at the end, whether it's a pile of gold, or a nice shiny new item to slay my enemies with -

I noticed that even tho there are sets you can make, some of the sets/items you find in game are sometimes better than the items you can craft.

When I finally killed Molag bal, I got given the prophets staff, and I feel like this is a nice reward, considering it goes with the story line.

I notice so many things that can be added towards the reward system..

- Blue+ items in rewards are good rewards, because they give us crafting mats, but I don't' see them around enough.. I feel rewards are almost always 'green'

Any insights towards this?

If you do this poll again add some middle ground options like "some rewards are ok but some need improving".

If you are feeling like it is "work" maybe you should move on to a different game or actually spend your time working towards some real life rewards.

They addressed this in the road ahead statement. And the poll does need more options. I love that crafting is actually worth something for once. I'll take that over better gear drops a million times over a million days.

Reward system needs to be improved in quality, quantity, and uniqueness. There also needs to be some changes in how you obtain them. It's just crazy when you end up with better loot from mudcrabs & skeevers than bosses.

    Agreed, we need better rewards.

I just have completed Cadwell's Gold and the reward was a completely useless necklace... Damn, I just completed ALL factions quests! And that is my reward? Really?S6XKV1J.jpg

I am a bit torn. Personally, I don't care for 'dominating' a dungeon or trial just to get a shiny sword of flame or whatever. I just care if the 'domination' itself was fun or not. I typically deconstruct anything/everything I earn that is not useful.

Further, these reward only items...will they be superior or inferior to crafted ones of a similar quality? Or will they have an non-learnable enchantment that makes them worth it? Or would they simply be something that has similar stats to similar lvl item, but just looks cooler?

The crafter in me is complaining that this will devalue the time I invested in lvling my skills (...don't hate me...). While the PvE in me thinks that people should be rewarded more diligently for their efforts if the dungeon/raid was of considerable/major difficulty.

Hm...I suppose I can tolerate just about anything they put in, so long as they are bound on pickup/equip. I'll leave it to ZOS to somehow handle the stats/enchants values for the items in question.

But for me, for right now.....I couldn't care less. End rewards just are not the type of carrot I look for.

They could not have made a more boring loot system if they tried. Here, have 2 gold. Here, have some random weapon. It might also be part of a random set.

I miss building toward a full set of items through knowing what quests to run, who to kill.

Very EASY answer. People have got used to getting "rewarded" for sneezing, in games.

To WORK for a reward, or even POSSIBLE reward has become alien.
    We have become spoiled.

Very few sees the fact you accomplish something on your own, or with friends, as a reward.

Also, MMOs today have to do something about rewards because of the easy access to how to do a quest, kill a boss, etc. When its not "you" who does it....but "you who collects" it....the reward needs to be equal to that.

For example, Zenimax have stated that RARE items (RARE as in very few players will even get them) will be in Craglorn raids. And ONLY those who master this raid, will have a CHANCE for them. Thats a REAL reward =)

    This is hard to balance.

Ask yourself, is it a reward to get an achievement where the only thing you need to do, it follow a simply guide, and do what that say?

Try *** doing PvE solid, instead of 'grinding'

You will get the reward from Craiglorn raids, at this point anyway, ONLY if you conform to a very specific build because of imbalances. Therefore anything done in craiglorn is meaningless.

I wouldn't like to see the WOW system applied to ESO.

At WOW you grind for months only to get items that are worthless with a new patch, so why grind at all?

I like the system at ESO with crafting, as you can get the best loot here if you work for it by maxing out your skills.

Dungeons and Raids are an adventure but no longer the only way to equip your char.

Honestly, I don't think I would still play if I would be forced into running dungeons every day to cap points so that I can get good loot.

What I enjoy about PvE is rewards, but why can't ESO have a selection of rewards like we see in other MMO's.

Why do you keep giving me heavy armor and staffs if I am a NB DW/Bow Melee DPS???

Yeah, sure its great because we can deacon and sell for profit, but sometimes the rewards are pretty powerful with traits and bonuses I could really use.

Its enough I have to deal with loot on boss drops and treasure chests that do nothing but give me an endless amount of things I do not use (see my other post where I conducted a true test of the games supposed rng)

Itemization ranges from bad to terrible, particularly quest rewards. This starts at level 3, when you realize almost all the rewards are for some spec you don't play. It continues through the endgame, when a VR12 Veteran Dungeon (Crypt of Hearts) rewards you with a blue, VR10 neck. I suspect no player has or ever will equip that.

The good news is, crafting rocks. Accessories aside, you can make (or commission) gear that competes with any other best-in-slot candidates, and there's enough variety in crafted kit to suit any playstyle or spec. ZOS did a great job with crafting here.

The potential good news is that ZOS appears to be addressing broader itemization. Dropped sets are in the process of being unscrewed. Perhaps quest awards will be next. At least they appear aware of the issue.

In the meantime, either craft or get to know some crafters ;)

since the risk in this game is mediocre at best the rewards are just fine, if there was actually a downside to dying or losing a battle then yea, up the reward but as it stands, little to no risk should have little to no reward.

Yeah -- this was a gobstopper back in beta, and I suspect I was one of hundreds or thousands that feedbacked about it. I'm surprised they haven't addressed it. It's such a glaring flaw, I suspect they will at some point.

You really don't want too many negative "WTF" moments for players in their first hours on the newbie islands.

I don't think that we should receive epic gear from rewards, but rather nice-looking costumes, titles and etc. Since everybody gets the quest rewards, it is impossible to have them provide the best possible gear stat-wise.

I helped the lord of secrets, hermorus mora or whatever his name/title is, and he rewarded me, a Green Quality Staff.
That actually made me angry, someone with his power should award you a epic at the least, not only an epic, but an epic with its own unshared model, a unique collectable that can be used until you outlevel it.

They had alot of opportunitys like that.

I guess it wouldn't bother me if there was better stuff, but as someone puttign a lot of points into crafting, I don't want it to be loads better than the stuff you can craft at the equivalent level!

The Devs put this out in the road ahead:

    Itemization and Rewards

One of the most fun reasons to play games like ESO is to obtain cool weapons, armor, and other gear through the course of your adventures. We’ve been closely following commentary about how, at some points in the game, it feels like you aren’t being rewarded adequately for the amount of effort you put in. I’ve already talked above about how we’re looking to alleviate this at Veteran Ranks, but it also applies to some sections of the 1-50 experience.

I am on the fence with this opinion...I finished Cadwell gold and the reward was Sooo oooooo terrible that it made me not only feel like it was a waste of time but really killed any excitement I would have had....to be honest if not for the road ahead I would have unsubbed much sooner. But now I have things to look forward to the hopes that rewards will be better. ...everyone wants better stats and gear...period....and in any success full MMO they give that....The gear is hard to get...then more people get it...by the time the majority get said item a new drop that is better comes out....If the best gear you can get is the same has 99.9% can make...The game will be dead in short time...The above reply stated that beating a boss was prize enough...so I assume you are running around in lvl 1 gear..because all those drops you did get was pointless and just used for decon and skill building....I doubt this is the case so your hypocritical view on drops and rewards hold no ground...not to be insulting but just pointing out the flaw in just beating something is reward enough view.
