Champion levels replacing veteran levels soon?

This post is about the changes to respec, but mention something about "champion levels".

This could be a big change, are they replacing veteran levels? Or are they adding champion levels after v12?

Now that they nerfed VR content to be more in line with 1-50 we get Champion levels so we can do faction 1-3 again with previous VR difficulty.

    Boom! End Game content!

(joking, but please let me be wrong)

Whats the difference between champion levels and veteran? I mean, if its like paragon levels from Diablo 3, it is that different?

I doubt that strongly. And if they really did I lose my faith in them completely.

From what I gather from the interview, champion levels will completely replace vet levels during one of the phases they announced. It probably won't come in until around update 4 or 5. We will be learning more about this in a few months in how they are going to implement this.

"Champion" Levels, maybe refer also to the system after they remove "veteran" points and replace them with regular XP. No clue why they are doing this.. one set of points works as well as the other.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

if they give special passives and skillpoints then they already beat VR anyways

From what I understood, certain "exp" (not sure what kind) needs to be gained and once it reaches a certain point may gain you a champion point that can be invested in your personal attribute of choice (stats that may include crit chance etc.). These are speculations, however, so we will just wait what other explanations there might be in how they are implementing champion levels. At least they are actually listening to other people's demands.

Something in my head tries to guess that it could be that current 1-v10 will transform to 1-100 or 150 or something vet points out. To reach the cap you need to go through all the 3 alliances. Once that done you are champion and the champion levels start.

Though I can also see that many people would not be happy to go through all that to reach champion content like craglorn. We'll see.

Actually they mentioned that champion levels start once you reach lvl 50 (thus the idea of replacing vet levels) and champion points, once gained, are actually account wide (not restricted to one character).

I'm listening to the interview now, when champion system comes, level 50 will be the top level, after then, for every set amount of XP you earn, you will get Champion Point that you can spend on certain passives. The alt characters (old and new alike) will also get these points, once they reach lvl 50.
We will also get a sort of rested-like bonus with it, but they emphasized, nothing is 100% here.
Also, PvP XP will be boosted so you can earn champion points in PvP easier.

The whole concept of VR levels is terrible anyway, they are just "hell levels" that other MMO's used to have, but no one else really has hell levels anymore. Why not just say there are 150 levels and be done with it?

Just been listening and new Champion system sounds much more appropriate and pretty awesome.. and its account wide!! So if you make an alt, once that alt hits 50 he is going to benefit from that previous gameplay on your main.

Listen below... its around 30 minutes.

Yes. The champion levels are account based so if one character earns a champ level all your chars will have them. They are used on certain skills yet to be unveiled.

My interpretation was these are skills earned and not char levels.

VR levels will be removed but where they go....it sounds like VR levels will become champ skill points

Veteren ranks are not going away. This was stated by Paul Sage during the interview. Vet points are being replaced by XP. This XP will increase your vet RANK and give you CHAMPION levels to spend points on. Its D3s paragon system.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

Makes it a little awkward to continue doing things like remaining quests etc after you hit VR12 because there's no record of xp/vet points being earned once you reach this level. As in, how will they convert the xp/vet points you earn into champion points once a player is already VR12 and no points are pooling up anywhere to be converted?

    Retroactive I would imagine.

I think it would make sense to end the veteran levels at 10 to mark the completion of the vanilla maps, and then start new levels for the new content. VR 11 would be changed to Champion 1.

Yes but how is it going to be tracked? A full VR12 xp bar is a full VR12 xp bar - there's no record of xp pooling up for us to see.

Yes. As you gain XP you gain VET RANKS just like we do now. The only thing different is that you will now gain a "Champion point" to spend on an assortment of "account wide buffs" that affect ALL your toons.

Its not confusing at all really.

Wonder what will happen to the VR 'costume rewards', my guess is that they aren't going anywhere and will be obtainable for those that haven't hit the marks, after the overhaul that is.

The way I understood it was that you have to be lvl 50 in order to earn additional champion pts for your account. However, each character on the account will be able to apply previously earned champ pts.

So for example your VR 10 character has earned 5 pts. Then you roll a new character and that new character will have his own pool of champ pts to distribute in passive abilities. They carry over to every character on the account and each has a seperate pool that can be used at any lvl. You only have to be lvl 50 to acquire more.

That's how I understood it from listening to the interview. Subject of course to complete misunderstanding :)

    It is very easy.

    1. in phase 2 Veteranpoints will be replaced by normal EXP. (VR Ranks 1-12 stays).

    2. In phase 3, Championpoints will be added (for example every 100k exp you will get 1 Championpoint) VR1-12 stays.

    3. Every character 50+ can contibute EXP to the Championpoints and use ALL earned Championpoints.
(For example VR10 contributed 5 CP, VR5 contributed 2 CP, every character 50+ can use 7 CP.)

    that make sense.

in this case, if VR cap is not increase, after V12, do player still earn exp?

if no, then this is a way to make player level more level 50+ characters, which would be annoying if VR is not changed to be less boring.

if yes, these exp don't contribute to VR cap increase?

You still get EXP (for your weapons, skills, armor etc.), but if you get more Championpoints, well that is a good question. I think depends on the max limit for CP.

In my opinion we will learn more at QuakeCon.

    probably

If I had to guess, they will cap CP and EXP so people will make more 50+ toons. Its a smart business decision, hopefully it will be accompanied by big changes to VR.
