Help me respec my Templar to successfully fight Mannimarco

OK, so it seems my current Nord Templar isn't exactly the optimal build to fight Mannimarco... Can't really do enough damage to him, and his life drain kills faster than I can regen health... My Templar is a Paladin-style "jack of all trades"

Level: 44
Race: Nord
Class: Templar
All heavy armour, Dwarven, level 44, Ashen Grip (for the magicka regen boost)
14 Magicka, 15 Health, 14 Stamina
Primary weapon: Two-handed axe, level 44, Ashen Grip
Secondary weapon: Sword + shield, level 44, Ashen Grip

Primary skillbar (two-handed): Biting Jabs IV, Silver Shards IV, Brawler IV, Extended Ritual III, Expert Hunter I. Ultimate: Crescent Sweep IV
Secondary skillbar (sword 'n board): Wrecking Blow I, Honor the Dead IV, Immovable Brute III, Biting Jabs IV, Silver Shards IV. Ultimate: Nova I

Whole Aedric Spear skill line unlocked, including ultimate and passives. Not all skills leveled tho
Dawn's Wrath skill line has Restoring Light I and Solar Barrage III, Nova ultimate, all passives except Restoring Spirit.
Restoring light skill line has all skills, passives and ultimate except Rune Focus and Master Ritualist. Not all fully levelled though.
Two-handed skill line have all skills and passives unlocked.
One-handed + shield skill line only has Puncture and Low Slash skills unlocked.
Fighters Guild skill line lacks Trap Beast, skilled tracker, Bounty Hunter and the ultimate.
Racial skill line has all passives unlocked.
Heavy armour skill line has Immovable Brute leveled to lvl III and all passives unlocked.
Apart from that I have unlocked the soul magic skill line, but none of the other.

So, what is the best way to respec in order to get Manni?

Don't think you need to respec. Just hit Manni with all you got and when he opens adds portal concentrate on them, some AoE might be useful. Once killed again hit Manni all you got, repeat. As templar you should have all the healing capabilities needed to keep you alive.

And in general try to avoid the red circles.

What is killing you? I think I had gotten my resto staff by the time I reached him, but its been quite a while. If he's a magic caster, Absorb Magic is an I-Win button. Best way to deal with any adds is Volcanic Rune Morph from Mage's Guild line. Then Solar Barrage, Reflective light. I used javelin when using resto staff to keep stuff away from me. Never tried shards though.

To kill Mannimarco, you only need to block, when he channels his life-leech (blue beam) iirc.

Thx to Giny, Sarana, Thaili, Derra, Cherahim, Gloy, Raweelz and Drimacus, you make the game worth playing even with AoE-caps, no usefull progression past Assault / Support Rank 10, and with PvP being not even close to balanced.

I did Mannimarco on my Sword/shield templar just charging around and spamming biting jabs and making sure i have purifying ritual up most of the time.

Honestly, you don't need to respec. Save all your Magicka for heals. Save all your Stamina for interrupts. Hit him with white damage and don't block anything. Just interrupt his life leech.

That's how I killed him. White damage + interrupts + heals on occasion

Don't try to burst him down. Just outlast him. The adds are pretty easy kills. Use Solar Barrage when they get near you and they'll all go down at once.

I go bow/2-handed with my Nord Templar. She got him in the first try. Having done him three times before, I already knew what I was going into so I had a bit of an edge. I just used the 2-hander the whole time. I also run with an even balance of mag/stam/health.

The worst thing Manni will do to you is that life drain. You need to interrupt that the second it starts. That’s why I prefer to be up in his face cracking him with the 2-hander, and easily interrupting when he starts. Don’t go crazy with abilities when slapping him, pace them out so you don’t run out of resources.

That big massive AOE of his… looks scary, and you certainly want to do everything you can to get out of it… but even rolling you’ll still get clipped by it 95% of the time if you’re in the middle when it starts. At least I did on all classes. Luckily, it’s not the worst thing he does.

Slap Manni in the face a few times, when his little ghost entourage shows up, I AOE’d them. You do need to take these guys down fast, because if you dance around with them too long, gives Manni more time to do whatever he feels like, which will be the life drain sooner than later. This is the big mechanic in this fight where many people get flustered. Ghosts stay up too long, next thing you know you’re trying to juggle too many things at once…. Another death inc. Solar Barrage with Cleave will pop them in a second or two.

He has a pattern. He’ll teleport around, you chase him, interrupt him when he gets cute with that life drain, big AOE, ghosts spawn… repeat… but it does offset at the end. There will be a “stage” where you will get the ghosts and life drain at the same time. For that second or two, ignore ghosts, interrupt that drain at all costs, then back to AOE ghosts, and should be pretty much a burn after that.

I used blue magicka and stam regen drink, and 3 stat potions. I think the combination of those also made all the difference for me.

So, if that’s something you feel comfortable running, that’s how I got him on my Nord Templar in the first shot.

Bone Colossi are a btch. If you're ranging him, move, move, move. Those skellies he spawns, after a few seconds they will stop chasing you and blow up. Obviously, stay out of their red circles.

The colossi will chase you to, every now and then he will stop to do a power attack and re-summon skellies. Unload into him then.

Also, my first time through the game I pah-shawed Circle of Protection (Dahhhh, I don't need any of dat sht..." Big mistake. If you're going to melee him, you're going to need CoP, and throw on the templar shields and melee miss ability.

CoP with templar shields will render you nearly invincible against undead and daedra. Just gotta watch that magika and stamina management. Three stat potions will be a huge help with that.

2handed Melee focused Sorc beat mannimarco 1st try. I found the Bone Lords more of a hassle then him :) No resto staff points at all. 2 hander/Sword&Shield/Overload Bar. and a health potion

I even had the event bug and one of the portals stayed open after mannimarco was down. Those guys die in one Cleave though :)

Block, take out adds quickly, and don't trust the NPCs on your side to help much. They do grab attention away from you sometimes, and if that happens try to run off for a second and heal or potion.

Managed to grind through this in the end, lag was better in the late evening, ironically enough... Still think those bonewalkers were a PITA tho... Grinded Mannimarco down with a combination of whacking him with the axe and self-heal spells...
Ironically, the last fighters guild quest was easy-mode...

Mannimarco is probably the hardest fight on the main story quest chain so if you've got past him you shouldn't have any problems with the rest of it.

From what I've seen the trick to beating Mannimarco is to save stamina for the interrupts. Mannimarco himself doesn't melee particularly hard but that life-steal he does can down you in a few seconds so it's really important to ensure you always have enough stamina to interrupt it immediately.

So the way I've downed him on my Templar and my Nightblade is to not use any stamina-based attacks but simply light-attack him and save stamina for the interrupts. With a Templar you can also balance out keeping some mana in reserve for self heals together with an aoe ability like Solar Barrage to take down the spirit packs that he summons at each portal (they don't have a lot of health but can hit fairly hard if not killed reasonably quickly). With the Nightblade I just used a combination of syphons and healing potions and used whirlwind to kill the adds instead.

I think the main point here is you really need to save your resources for dealing quickly with the lifesteal and the adds - Mannimarco himself is not really a major source of damage outside of the lifesteal and even though it might take you a few minutes to kill him through just hitting him with light attacks it is probably the easiest way to do it.

There is two ways to be Mani...
The Interupt way and the Ranged way.
The interupt way has been explained.

The Ranged way is to use a Bow, Resto, Desto staff.... and have an AE to kill the adds. With this you ALWAYS need to be moving so when his AE Drops on you, you will be out of the area when it actually hits. But that means NEVER stopping. And then dropping AE's on the adds as they come. Then with Bow, Resto or Desto you just hit Mani with any DoT's you have and Heavy Attacks. Takes a while but gets the job done.

My Templar is probably not too different to the OP... 5Heavy 2 Light, in the guise of a gangly Altmer chick in a nord dress. Beat him with Degeneration (mage guild), silver bolts (fighter guild) and light attack spam .

Conserve your resources, interrupt the health drain, avoid at least some of the bombs and show the adds no mercy.

Also you could consider moving the interrupt on to a key (I use F6). When he starts a Lifesteal of any sort, hit the key.

Another strategy that has been mentioned in other threads is to attack him to activate the minions then run back to the door and just kill the adds when he summons them. Something about portals was mentioned too, shut them down?

Never give up!! The thing I find in this game is, yes, some aspects are hard (for me), but the ppl who breeze through the whole thing without dying are deprived of the feeling of elated satisfaction when they overcome a difficult obstacle :) I have died loads of times, but I get a nice warm glow and punch the air when I get through something I was struggling with :)

Glad you have managed to do it now, nothing else in the main story is as difficult, esp not old Molag
