Don't think so, but wouldn't guarantee my wife and I would stay. It would just really depend on how they implement, and how much the game world goes to crap with all the free-players swarming in.

Heck no. If it's done like swtor or rift - and it provides resources to develop the game further - then I would enjoy it even more.

Of course i will play. SWTOR's f2p works well and there is a good player base nowadays.

I hope TESO won't need f2p, and yesterday there where many players online and i finally had a queue to get into cyyrodil.

But if the game should fail a f2p might save it. And for me as a subber the game won't change much anyway so yeah i would play. PvP is da bomb

The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I will vote yes , but it deppends on how the F2P works.

Still , based on how most F2P systems work right now , i would say probably.

If ESO goes: FTP = Yes, I'd quit game; BTP = NO, so long as game continues to improve in art/gfx, content such as quests and zones, free updates, and decent size paid expansions, than I'll stay; PTP = NO, so long as game continues to improve in art/gfx, content such as quests and zones, free updates, huge paid expansions, than I'll continue to sub.

If ESO goes -Free to Play- than I go away. ESO could probably make a living off FTP, though I won't be helping them. I hope that if sub does fail them it would be a -Buy to Play- game which at least allows them to reach a lot of players that hates subs, but would love to pay for worthy medium size expansions.

I think you mean that F2P is irrelevant because it may not be pay to win? I'm not sure what you mean. Misnomer is a wrong or inaccurate name or designation. Are you saying all free to play is pay to win under the wrong blanket term (IE. its not really free because you still have to buy things to stay relevant)?

    regardless

Personally I still think its relevant because in F2P games even if it isn't pay to win all the cool earned cosmetic stuff go from fun and entertaining quest lines or boss kills to

"pay a dollar to unlock this color!" instead of "complete all dungeon achievements!"

    or

"look we made new mounts! 25$!" instead of "look we made new mounts! you rare drop off of this new boss we just made! or earn one from this awesome new quest line"

development in free to play immediately turns from keeping people interested in the game to making people feel like they need to purchase items from the store because... well that is the only way they fund the game they HAVE to somehow. See Tera which I still play sometimes almost anything interesting is put in the shop. Same for Rift lately.

The only way I'd stay is if subscription continue to be an option and subscribers have complete free access to all but cosmetic cash shop content. Maybe a 90% discount on cosmetics, or one free per month.

Luckily I'm not really worried they'll go ftp.

The quality of the player base would be in for a new all time low if it went f2p, I'd probably quit then. I've done f2p/p2p games before and those communities/ player bases are seriously lacking.

Does it matter? Look at some of these threads and people in zone chat. If this is an older more "mature" player base, it really doesn't show. Sorry. Try again.

While some people never grow up, it can get much worse. Try playing some CoD to get a true definition of the word squeeker. Not like it really maters in a game that doesn't have voice chat though.

Free to Play or Pay to Play, I already quit ESO. Zenimax has proven incapable of fixing the game. There's no reason to play it.

If you already quit, why are you still here. If you came back, you must still like this game.

There is a crowd who wishes to see the game improve, to see the game excel, to see the game become a worth Elder Scrolls successor but we have been disappointed.

Any fan of a franchise will keep their eyes and ears open for future game development on the newest projects in that franchise. That is why the forum had a lot of Elder Scrolls fans explain their discontent for the game even after they have quit the game and unsubscribed.

We hope that the game will eventually include impressive level designs, impressive game mechanics, intriguing lore additions, better customization and an overall fun gameplay experience.

I am one of the few still here, because the others have been discouraged enough. Lack of listening through the patches is discouraging. Rampaging trolls and inconsistent Zenimax Moderators are discouraging. I have been discouraged from posting the majority of my feedback because of these reasons.

Yet, I'm still here hoping that one day Zenimax will listen.

I understand your point of view but you have to understand you can't fix everything over night it sound to me that you was expect perfect mmo from start but you should know by now that are no perfect mmo from the start it take time to fix thing just look at :
    • SWTOR now people are say that game is become as should have been from start and how old is SWTOR now?
    • WoW was no dance on rose from the start you have bug, lag, server downs for whole days, queue time and 1st 6 month not much of end content
    • AoC took them until there 1st expansion to get ground version of that game work as should have been from start before the went F2P

This just name few of all game that problem from start which the fix under time while my point is that no mmo if perfect and in perfect world all mmo would work super good on everyones computer but you have reminder even if game have problem it is not always company fault for everyone have different setup on there computer when come to hardware and software which can affect games performance and so can internet connection do.

Hell until this last patch i could not have max setting on texture in the game but my gf could and I have alot better gfx card then she have should I just quit game and on rampage on forum about how bad company is for not have that support for my gfx card from start????

You need more options, but this has been continually asked for months now.

I would prefer it to stay sub, but I wouldn't necessarily leave if it went F2P, it all depends how they do it.

Lotro killed the game in my opinion with its F2P model, others don't seem too bad

Simplistic polls are simplistic, only the rabid anti-F2P will vote 'yes' and actually do it simply because it goes F2P, most adults will take a view if/when it happens.

My 'no' simply means I won't have a knee-jerk reaction as some of the 'yes' voters no doubt will and I'll wait to see how it affects the game. In the case of LoTRO the game design went downhill fast and is now focused on driving 'Store' sales.

OTOH, Rift isn't noticeably different in terms of content design that before, unlike LOTRO there's nothing in the Store that is a 'must have'. Of course, those religiously opposed to F2P because they consider themselves superior playing a 'sub' game will never be happy, but Trion shows to me at least it's possible for a developer to go F2P and still retain their integrity.

Can't say for certain. But free to play is never free, in fact it usually ends up costing a lot more than £9 a month. Their main focus would be the cash shop selling experience boosts and crates of food/potions etc.

What he said. F2P games cost more than P2P games. Is a fact.

I would rather go back to ancient DAOC than play any F2P RPG. Or even TESO which I love so much.

However, it cannot go F2P on consoles due to their EULA. Which means at worst case I will have to buy a PS4

"we" meaning the other people that are members of these forums need to "STOP" bashing and complaining about TESO and just be patient and wisely allow the game to greatly improve and mature within it's own natural course of time folks, tadow, solution to issues and end of the point.
