Can you sell your digitally purchased game?

moloTov

This might be a stupid question for some true believers, but in this elder age of buying software that doesn't work and not having the common sense option of returning it for a refund, nothing is stupid anymore.

If you bought this game from the online store, can you legally sell it to a 3rd party? I know the ethical and common sense answer but...

Thanks

PC games. It's generrally been difficult to return even physical didk computer software and games for refunds for decades. Which is likely why digital software sales took off for PCs, but the concept has met with more resistance on consoles.

There are generally difficulty allowing resale of digital software. Unless you can ensure it's deleted off the original owner's machine, resale is nothing but piracy. Ironically, it's very easy to sell a digital version of ESO unlike other games. You sell the account the game is attached to. I'm pretty sure this breaks the TOS, though that's more likely to hurt the person who buys it.

Also you're confusing first-sale doctrine with freedom of speech. FSD, if you're European may have different laws, so check.

If you could sell it, why even try. You would have to stoop even lower than this company and lie and cheat even worse than they did to sell it. Don't stoop to their level, just mark it down in your head and never purchase anything from these dirtbags again.

Of course you could just blindly continue to pay them and defend it, you know what I mean.

I'd be happy to pay them..i like the game..it just wont load anymore! Any i've already spent enough of my life trying to get CS to fix it. See my lovely and constructive post on why Im leaving the game that was closed by THEM.

TOS states you cannot post goodbye threads. That is why they closed it.

As for your troubles, I am sorry you are having them, but it is not the software. If it was, their entire player base would be having the same problem.

I wish I could help...but, if I were you, ask around and see if anyone has any experience with computer hardware and software. There is most likely something wrong with your configuration that is causing all of these bugs. Sometimes, CS just isn't good enough. I have learned that over many years of dealing with many CS agents from multiple companies. Most of the time, I was able to identify the problem myself and fix it. Sometimes, it has absolutely nothing to do with the software itself (meaning a clean install just won't work, no matter how many times you do it).

From reading your post, it sounds like you do have a background in software...how about hardware? Also, if it just magically stopped working one day, there is most likely something that changed with your configuration. Virus? Anti-virus programs? Malware?

I know it's not what you want to hear, but it is reality. Hope this helps you and anyone else faced with similar issues.

Flawed logic, I'm afraid for at least 2 reasons: There have been numerous similar problems posted about the launcher not loading or causing failed starts and resisting fixes. Number enough for it to be significant and problematic.

Also, the fact that I can play/use a vast variety of other games, apps, downloads, etc, suggests the fault lies with the software and its "picky" connection parameters. Of course, I just might have a virus that defies detection and only affects Zenimax games?

Clearly this program has too narrow an adaptability to end users' computer configurations when compared to other standard games, apps etc.

oh, almost missed this little gem: @TOS states you cannot post goodbye threads. That is why they closed it."

It's this kind of zombie logic and childish mantra that makes anyone with a brain cringe; "you can't do it sir because it's a rule. Thank you for your money, now keep your constructive comments to yourself about the fact you can't use the product you paid for."

There are so many things wrong with your 'logic' to try to deal with, and given the tone of the post you linked to above which was rightfully locked you're not really interested anyway.

Enjoy the other games you can play, hopefully as much as I and hundreds of thousands of others are enjoying ESO on machines that clearly are set up and working properly.

And tears are lost in rain...

Good thing btw. Not your post (against the rules anyway bye bye posts, that's why it was closed, nothing else) but that tears are lost in rain:) Nothing to do with your so called truth.
Your logic or whatever you think it is, is a failure.

    Cheers...

Tone? Constructive and humourous; trying to make the best of getting screwed out of money and hours with CS. Seems like a generous tone. Sorry, i refuse to be a blind, deaf and dumb fanboy. And the logic might be too sophisticated for those spout "It works for me, so stop complaining." Don't attack/censor the messenger, its the game that is flawed.

I'd call it condescending, in any case it was locked as 'bye' threads are rightly not allowed.

Hopefully soon your sub. will expire and you won't then be able to post at all.

I don't think people tried to prevent you from giving criticism but I'm still amazed how you failed to see that making bye or farewell topics is against the rules, simple as that. When they close topics like that, it is not censorship. You understand that?

About selling digital copies, I don't think it is possible. For example I have bought a lot of games via Steam online system and none of those games can be sold. Not the same perhaps as here, but I get the point. I buy the digital copy, I cannot sell it forward. Fine by me.

    Cheers...

@Brabok posted the relevant piece of the TOS already but to the original point you can't share account information and the game is tied to your account so there's no way to legally sell the digital game.

As for your launcher issue, I have been having a memory leak issue lately and read a few other threads where people were having the same issue. Try closing the launcher as soon as you open the game. I put a CS ticket in for the issue, as did a few others I spoke to on the forums about it but I never heard back from CS after I sent them the dxdiag and game consultant report.
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.
