Why horses look so awful?

Seriously, if you didnt buy Imperial edition, or HFM (horse for money) then you probably shed some 42k golds for one very ugly plastic horse of your own.

Your character probably looks pretty decent, your armor is most likely rather detailed and shiny, and your horse?

Your horse looks like "My Little Plastic Pony - Tamriel Edition". Looks like matte sprayed plastic, with near zero details.

It needs visual update, including some shaders to make it bit more "real like". Real horses shine a bit (at least when they are groomed, clean and healthy).

I know that horses looking horrible are standart in TES series, but since ZOS made armor and characters look much better then in most TES game (vanilla ones, not modded .. no its not even close to modded ones, I know), then perhaps its time for some visual upgrade to horses?

I mean, for 42k of gold its not that much to ask for having something nice in return..

I agree. Plz up the texture quality of the horse skin please

And let us see our weapons while riding plz. I had a 10 second bug and saw people riding with there weapons (my s&b as well on my back) and it looked more ingaging then without. Clipping issues can be fixed over time...

1st person view would be my third request while mounted for those who play in 1st person.

Maybe in the coming patch???

@Mescalamba I agree, although I would just be happy with a retexture. The horses face is terrible and needs better textures. I'm sure that will happen at some point in a another update, if enough people ask for it. I know I will. ‌

Beside of the cheap looking textures, their animation could be look better and a little more realistic, especially while galloping.

Yes, I agree horse textures could be upgraded.

No, I do not agree that ESO armors are better than vanilla Skyrim (especially if you have the official high res texture pack installed). I'm not saying they're bad, but both the models and textures are more detailed in Skyrim.

If I knew how to get at the textures, I'd happily retexture them at a higher res.

Well, its MMO, I dont expect miraculous visual quality. I just expect it to be at least consistent. Thats all.

Whats really going to suck is once we get the dye system, you will be able to color yourself up in an awesome matching uniform, but your horse will not match at all.

They need to make barding that can be purchased for horses in a number of styles, and the dye system should work on barding the same as armor. Then you could make yourself look a proper badass while mounted or on foot.

Shame most are still normal horse mounts, I want a spider to scary the crap out of people

Maybe the OP wants to use the 75% horse (which looks stupid) but have it the same colour as the stamina horse.

Please give the horses higher res textures. The mane and tail are a laughable attempt. They look like what you would expect a cheap plastic toy to have where they didn't use fake horse hair. Also the Imperial Horses are no longer white, more like a washed out grey

Yes, definitely. The horses as they are now look pretty lame, and they need an overhaul. Especially the mane and tail, which @Devolus‌ so finely pointed out.

When they added the new lighting models, PVP Cyrodiil frame rate dropped alot. If they increase the model texture of horses, when 40 of us mount up and charge the enemy castle......I am sure lots more players with lower spec machines will complain then the few players who will thank the dev's for nicer looking horses.

There are graphics options for a reason. Giving higher res texture for people who run ultra setting would not have an impact on people who already have the graphics options to a lower quality. And the frame issues were due to certain skills and sfx. Hence why the patch notes stated that certain abilities were fixed to not drop frame and the temporary workaround is/was disabling the game sound.

That wasnt reason for FPS drop. This lighting was in game before that patch, they just added some stuff that actually used it bit more. FPS issues had other causes..
