I'm all for any kind of cosmetic gear dye, but I'd prefer the tones to be relevant to the environment and Era of ESO. I don't like the idea of riding into a main city and it's like I entered EDC with a bunch of neon colored adventurers everywhere.

I have another idea. (clicked the wrong option on the poll)

How about, anyone who has skill 50 on eg clothing and 9/9 on tailoring, been able to craft a VR12 armour made by Hide. Or the other lower level mats? (same applied on Blacksmithing, wood working etc)

Many of those low level armours, look absolutely fantastic, especially the Khajiit made with hide. Tampered to epic-legendary level looks like the red-white armour Lord Gharesh-ri wears, which is really cool looking medium armour.

So these were done by devs?

This.. really scares me because it looks like the kind of designs, color patterns my 3 year old daughter colors in her coloring books.......

Your devs are adults yes? So why do their "Contest" pictures look like something from a kindergarten classroom coloring contest? Or is it simply that your ability to dye armor is so inferior that you can only dye 1 layer?

My next question to that would be.... Whats the point of making an outfit that is ugly, even uglier by trying to dye it when you can't dye all 4-6 layers to make very creative nice looking costumes?

It seems to me that this was done half ass.... But considering the shredder/transformer costume which suffices for Daedric armor in ESO... I can't really say the lack of detail, care, and design ability is surprising.

promotional purpose. they have re-created characters from the pop culture to show what is possible to do. but I partially agree, same fact that they have done it displays at whom they are aiming their advertisement. personally I would prefer simple presentation 'it looks this' and now 'this'. I do not see anything childish about it. this is how some comic series' characters look.

Well as some of you know I am a Dev, though I don't work for ESO. So let me tell you what the issue is here:

    * These armor sets, you can tell by looking at them can only be dyed in 1 maybe 2 layers maximum. It is an obviously and exceedingly lacking dye system.

So those of you hoping to make your Shredder armor look more appealing... Your out of luck, as that armor is a 4 layer armor minimum.

    * If I am incorrect in the above statements and the armors only have 1-2 layers (which that might be the case looking at the dweemer set....) Then that simply means that all the armor in ESO is some of the lowest quality designed armor in the entire MMO industry (Even WoW armor is 3-4 layers, and it's... ewww) and ESO should be ashamed for ever letting it out of the QC room.

Look I'm going to be honest ZOS, I know your working hard, I know you want to give players some of what they desire. but this half ass BS has to stop. Stop introducing what is obviously garbage half assed crap.

Wait, get it right, and give us some QUALITY product.

Trust me.. it will be worth it.

Terrible. It's one of the reasons I left TERA and didn't like FF. I don't want huge swords, spiky hair and cartoon armor. Looks like ESO is getting cartoon armor first, I wonder how far behind spiky hair and huge swords will be.

There is a way to make unique armor that stands out but still keep that gritty medieval Skyrim feel. Dyes just seem like a lazy way of adding variety. Heck look at the studio contest they had with dyes, one dev made his toon look like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat, that's freakin terrible and not what I want to see running around next to me. Everything else is so well made, the quests, the voiceovers, the legend and lore, why they would ruin it like this I'm not sure.

The dye system honestly may not be the issue, it may simply be that the Armor design quality is the real culprit as well. If the armor is not detailed enough or does not have enough design layers.

Then you would not be able to dye those layers simply because they do not exist, which would mean you might have a good dye system, but due to the armors lackluster and low quality it looks like crap.

I think the armor looks pretty darn nice, although it could stand to have more variety. Dyes were kind of a lazy way to progress. Personally I think they need appearance slots so we can use armor just for appearance, everquest 2 had this and it was awesome. I can't tell you the amount of times in ESO I've loved a piece or armor's looks, but couldn't use it because I had outleveled it. If I could have equipped it into an appearance slot I would have been kept happy rather than having to dye something I probably didn't like in the first place, akin to applying paint to a piece of dog poo.

I get the whole comic book character thing, what I don;t get is why TES devs, are even remotely trying to symbolize or attract Marvel fans to a TES game. This is Not "Iron Man defeats Dagoth Ur".

    This is "The Elder Scrolls".

If this game continues to decline I may have to finaly wave goodbye to a franchise that has given me almost 15 years of fun, and go with another game.

Which would *** me off simply because I've been a TES fan since Arena.

To see a game which had so much potential be ruined by a Studio that obviously has no clue what the TES franchise entails, and see it turned into another DC Online game is just.... man....

I need to stop right there.

If ZOS isn't careful they may lose the remaining TES fan base.

i agree completely. People on the lore pages are absolutely having a fit and my friedns that quit are having a blast tearing it apart.

I found it quite disturbing that they did super heroes instead of fantasy heros.... like lotr, DnD, and etc.

I think the devs are completely 100% out of touch with the ES community. if This forces me to quit it will be the last one standing of 14 people from my guild that came here. I have been the biggest ESO defender I know and it was because the ES style was kept in tact and sacred (i was fine with them making mini maps and etc but the style was there)

if they go ahead with this it will make all the sacrifices to make the "mmo" more "elder scrolls" completely in vain. They made all these choices that drove mmoers away to make the game more immersive? well I wont be all that immersed when I got to mournhold and see 1000 clown colored fools a the bank.

Like... i can't even grasp this - its like one of the higher up suits said "we need more kids to come play this game only kids play games right?... the numbers are down. Kids like super heros right? well go make some super heros and put it out there ES be damned best super heroes get a day off"

I totally agree. it emanates strange aura of 'megazord'. I dislike it, every very bit of it.

I do not mind colours though, with a proper application there should be no problems. but they should give more metallic colours, the ones showed on the screenshots looked to me like something you use for walls. I can't get that blue-white set out of my head, the one with red gauntlet. what was it.

and items need much more fill-colour spaces, 2 for piece is a no go

The dye system looks fine in its execution, and the armor already looks good (definitely up to the standards of prior ES games). The only issue is how bright some of the coloring is. The fact that they were able to make those superhero duplicates is concerning to me. I don't want to see towns full of people in awful, garish colors just because they want the game to look more like Wildstar.

Before you guys complain, know that Roose Bolton, one of the nastiest characters in Westeros (a place filled with very nasty characters) wears a bright pink cloak as his family colors, and no-one so much as snickers.

Not that I will be wearing pink mind you. I can't wait until my Imperial characters can actually look like Imperials. Right now my heavy armor is pink with washed out reddish brown trim and dingy gray metal plates. My cloth wearer has olivy gray clothing with puke green trim.

I can't wait until I can actually wear a proper Imperial uniform that is bright red cloth, with shiny silver metal and gold trim like a proper Roman Legionary (which the Empire is based on).

It would appear that Zenimax is going the way of the sellout. TES is not a Korean game/mmo and the style has never reflected that.

I won't be copying Wildstar, or any other game. I will be choosing colours that suit my personality, or rather my characters personality. My Altmer Sorceror might be in bright colours, but my Dunmer Dragon Knight will be in more muted colours, and my Khajiit Templar will probably be in white or cream with an appropriate highlights.

Based on the June road ahead screen of the dye bench it would seem each piece of armor has a main color, secondary color, and a trim.

Given that we have 20+ shades minimum for every color (based on their screenshot) I'm sure people will have decent odds of finding a color scheme the might enjoy.
