what history? what kind of fiction? I remember heroes completely different.
golden saints look like golden statues, quite a common thing.

Check out any of the classic Arthur tales or the end of most Star War movies for fiction, and check out most renaissance art for heroes for history. Heck check out WW2 propaganda and how "heroes" and "villains" are given bright colors. We all don't have to be mud covered heroes lol!

there is no brightness in them except for few. refined, rich clothing is not a synonym for 'bright'. Star Wars movies and bright outfit hm, hm, hm even lightsaber of Mace Windu was toned down. no, sorry, I do not see anything bright about them except for the light pouring on them.

I think you must be speaking about some comic characters with underpants on pants and such latex neon heroes.

They should put dyes but they shouldn't be like cartoon style.
As for being easy to spot, well that was actually part of the system, along with an emblem on your shield, enemies and allies could identify you, and act accordingly. No stealth in the medieval period

This is not strictly true. Armies moved by marching. There was little point in camouflaged for big battles. News of an army on the way would reach long before that army got there and opposing Armies would usually be aware of when they would meet up. It was more of an advantage to have your army looking impressively dressed because that tends to imply that they're also well equipped and we'll coordinated, and gives a psychological advantage. Smaller special-ops type teams would wear outfits that helped with stealth.

With this you can finally adjust colors and mix up different motifs. I am wearing a 4x Setbonus from the Aether set. I dont use the head piece. but theres nothing i can do to get a fitting headpiece. Breton kinda fits. but that dark blueish isnt that great on an armor looking black and white.
So with this, i am finally able to colorize the breton headpiece to match up with the rest.

As long as they give us an off switch that says "Don't show any dyes." in our social tab, then you can be any goofy color you want to be.

Fantastic news! Watching SuperBash0r2000 in his neon pink spandex costume riding through Tamriel on a unicorn will not break anyone's immersion. Why would it?

I'm all for having a dye system. More customization to make your character look like you want is never a bad thing. Fact is, clothing and armor can be dyed in RL, why not in ESO?

You know if they make it like stages it would be cool....like layers of dyes...1 blue dye makes more a tint....2 a little more vibrant and 3 would be like full hued paint. Probably too late to put that in...but might be a good way to please more people.

I'll love being able to dye my armors to fit my characters better, but I'm a little worried about how fashionable others will be about it. I suppose that's a downside to this system.

Make the garish and neon colors be unlocked via difficult achievements. That way when you see someone who is full on neon pink, you know they are a badass.

Couldn't Zenimax allow us the choice when it comes to colors? We could enable the option and turn ESO into a cartoon if it doesn't bother us or we could disable it and everyone would appear as the standard color palette for the armor they are wearing. I'm no programmer but it would seem to be within the realm of the not-too-hard-to-implement.

I actually asked for some sort of dye system during a feedback form in beta. Ecstatic to see them coming. :D

Not entirely sure how I feel about the bright colours though. I personally just want some nice silvers and golds for plate and maybe some soft colours for peices of cloth items.
As it is right now you can already end up with some eye-bleeding combinations at certain upgrade levels: http://eso-fashion.com/incendiara-cinderviere-eu/

If not dyes, they should expand the costume system and give us an outfit tab that allow us to equip armor in individual slots that let use show armor we like the look of but still get stats from the good armor.

I love the idea of having dyes in the game, but bright colors just don't appeal to me and I feel like they have no place in a game like this.

I just don't get it. They say they had a studio contest to design this and had a lot of fun. Good for them. Now what about the players (payers)?

I don't quite see the difference with the armor I'm already wearing (pink pants and shiny blue shirt - it DID NOT look like that on the crafting preview) except for the fact that I'll now bear the responsibilty of choosing between neon pink and neon blue or green instead of a horrified grin of awe when I equip my new crafted armor...

Come on, ZoS, log on the Nexus, go to Skyrim (or Oblivion), Files, Categories, Armors, and sort your search results among the 1,500 files created by TES players by "most endorsed". Pick the Top 50. Or just Top 10.

Now what do you see? What does it tell you about your players?

Any option they put in will be abused by someone to make a garish, cartoony mess. Personally, it'll be nice to mix and match different racial styles and then color to match, creating a unique armor look all my own. A better way to stand out. Nice to see they're giving us more choices.

I like the idea of dyes in general. It fit a game where there is so much customization in crafting.
But I do not like the fact that you can dye metal, or that you have so much bright, unrealistic dyes. It should stay natural and a bit boring shades of colors tbh!

Gaudy colours should increase your aggro range considerably.

A 'reduce saturation by 90%' option would be good too, to change neon to a tint. I like the idea of dyes ... but every second player will be going around with a horrible neon colour scheme.

Any mention of what it will take to dye material?

On a certain fansite it was mentioned the different colors are supposedly tied to unlocking achievements. I've also heard about another paywall for the less natural looking colors, similar to UO and Rift.

I guess so. But there are different shades of pink, you know. Some quite nice and tasteful. This forum seems to hate the very idea of pink.
Naw, it's the bright pink fluffy jumper and spandex tights version of pink this forum is worried about. A nice dusky pink is perfectly fine in the context of this game.
