I can tell you what's optional and what not.

It is optional to dress like a Power Ranger and if you see one then this doesn't influence you either, or do you hit everyone on the street who doesn't dress like you want to?

What is not optional however is that VR content was nerfed and everyone who liked it has no chance of experiencing that challenge anymore.

They should put dyes but they shouldn't be like cartoon style.
As long as NPC's aren't all using the crazy dyes, I have no objections. It's realistic that there should be the occasional eccentric person or group that wants to be vibrant and stand out. Vivid colors appeared in the historical human cultures which some of the game's races are based on. As someone who watches period pieces like Rome, Vikings, etc. all the time, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Vibrant colors are a part of life.

Naw, it's the bright pink fluffy jumper and spandex tights version of pink this forum is worried about. A nice dusky pink is perfectly fine in the context of this game.

hopefully there are going to be more metallic colours to choose from.

about screenshots presented by ZOS: they show that you can re-create popular characters. unfortunately it also shows at whom they are aiming with their promotional materials. It should have been neutral dye presentation. It has turned comically ill.

I'm all for freedom how you paint your gear. experience tells me that there will be an ocean of pink walkers, rather uneasy colour. and if [Auri-El protect us] they introduce transmogrification then the world will turn into a parade of pink harlots displaying parts of their virtual bodies that should have remained covered.

these screenshots are awful. Seeing people with pink dye is going to ruin the game. But the feature itself is awesome. So... I think the most important thing is that everyone will love their character more and get more fun. I guess I can stand a little pink in my view when I have the most incredibly looking dark elf in the area. it's for the best.

I can finally recreate the Tribunal armors / morrowind armors / hand of almalexia armors... TRIBUNAL FTW ! ALMSIVI

Yes some will make bright Pink outfits, or purple, but it's their taste you have a problem with, not the dyes themselves.

    Dyes are a great idea.

I'd prefer that they don't add flashy/cartoony dyes, but if they add them, so be it. Better to have a few questionable colour choices than no choice at all.

It is optional for you to play or unsubscribe. That is what we who oppose certain features are constantly told. Including those many who did not like the VR difficulty by those who did.

Don't misunderstand, me. I don't oppose your view, or take issue with it. I am not even in VR zones yet still. But, it was done with a reason to address the issue that was raised by so many. Plenty seem happier with it. Are more happier now than before, it the question? Anyhow that is for another thread don't you think?

On this thread I am with you on this one. Like I said earlier, I know the screenshots show bright colours. And yes, they will be used. But, I figure they are not forced to be the norm.

    I don't care.
Your 'unrealistic' option applies to much of the high level armour in the first place, daedric and the like are certainly not 'real' as far as being armour that a combatant would actually wear.

As usual, high level gear in ESO like everywhere else is a fashion statement, there to provide the posers with something to wear as a status symbol of their 'achievements'.

They probably need to only do colours that are natural or neutral and that you could probably make from plants or ground up shells or rocks. Things that could naturally exist in the sort of mostly pre-industrial world that Tamriel is.

Like say ancient Egypt, India or Mesopotamia.. all of which predate the industrial area by millennia and had bright, vivid dyes.. The ancient Egyptians clothed themselves and painted their buildings and temples with vivid colors, as did the Romans (Imperials) and Vikings (Nords).

I'm not saying don't have vivid colours - I'm saying have ones that could occur naturally and in quantities that would be viable naturally. Lapis has a very vibrant blue colour but wasn't used for painting every wall or door or robe because it was (and is) rare and very very expensive. Bright colours in clothing belonged really to the wealthy elite and everyone else wore stuff not far off potato sacks. The Elizabethans in England had a very strict code as to who could wear certain styles and fabrics according to their rank and title.

Actually I would not mind a potato sack pauper disguise. As long as it didn't look too much like the soul shriven pyjamas. I want to look ordinary, to blend in not to stand out. All my girls are heavy armour wearers but some of the nicest outfits by a mile have been some of the quest reward robes in Greenshade and Grahtwood. I just don't like my girls going round looking like walking transformers all the time. Sometimes a girl just likes to look 'girlie' when sticking her sword in a bandit or two if you know what I mean. That doesn't mean I am dyeing anything pink!
