Any confirmation on player crafter jewelery?

  • Saara
    Saara

Rather see it under Enchanting, personally.

    That's my favorite too.
Someone suggested the idea of a new crafter who combines jewelry and costumes.

    "Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
    Thy micturations are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee.
Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes,
And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles,
Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts
With my blurglecruncheon, see if I don't!"

I recall reading something during beta about it being a possibility. There was also a mention of horse racing.

That's a topic we're discussing and it's something we want to do, but we didn't officially announce anything about it.

From TESOElite's Crafting Q&A with Paul Sage summary

Under the Miscellaneous section, near the bottom:
"Q: Will the ability to Craft Jewelry (Rings and Neck pieces) be put into the game?"

"A: It is something we have discussed for the future and it is something we would like to do."

Confirmed they want it in the game, but no ETA.

Confirmation came from developer interview in a podcast over the weekend.

I don't really know what people would want jewelcrafting for. As it stands, enchanters are basically jewelcrafters. Just find a piece of jewelry that has the stat increase you want, and apply whichever glyph you would like to go with it. The quality of the glyph is what determines the quality of the jewelry piece.

simple, its to be able to craft jewelry for special crafted armor sets...

I can't see Jewelry crafting being its own profession because rings and necklaces can't support its own crafting profession. It would have to go either to blacksmithing or enchanting (actually making the jewelry) and then you could add enchantments made by an enchanter. Blacksmithing has more than enough already though. I think it makes the most sense to give it to Enchanters.

The big question is how to work in set bonuses in crafting. The current research model doesn't work, since you're looking at 2 items with a maximum of 3 traits each. Any actual trait research mirroring blacksmith/clothing/woodwork would either be very quick to max out (if you started the time at 6hrs) or very slow to start seeing any gains (if you started the time higher - about 1wk).

Perhaps work it in as the mystical fourth runestone type that would be used in place of an essence type to create solid jewlery. You'd have to have 6 types then, for all combinations of the three traits and whether it's ring or necklace.

Idk, just throwing that out here. Nothing really feels right for jewlery since although it's a crafting one, it has too few items (and especially traits) to stand on its own as proper crafting. Without set-bonus crafting, it'd be next to worthless, but make it too easy to get the requisite traits and it makes getting 3 pieces of even 8-traits dead simple to get, devaluing those.

could make it a hybrid skill, the actual "ring" or "amulet" (metal circle/chain and pendant) could be made in blacksmithing, but make them unique to enchanting in that, they can have 2 enchants (one glyphed gemstone (very high inspiration, set into the ring/amulet (level and trait determined by blacksmithing material/trait), also give enchanters the ability to remove settings from jewellery, and break down the setting (glyphed gemstone), or make breaking down the jewelery in blacksmithing give you glyphed gemstones and refined ore, providing an alternate path to learning enchant translations. The ring/amulet is not destroyed in the process, if you remove the gemstone through enchanting, but you only get back 2/3 runes, so as you learn stronger enchants you can swap out your glyphed gemstones and break them back down. This way without altering too much in game, (slight reworking of rings/amulets to allow 1 enchantment and 1 gemstone(glyphed/enchanted) you could craft + include rings and amulets into sets (with blacksmithing) then enchant them each twice, while providing an alternate inspiration source for enchanting.

I can give you two reasons why it may, or may not be implemented. So don't be surprised either way.
    • It has no real place in any of the games. It never has. You would come across a ring, or an amulet and go enchant it yourself. So don't be surprised if you don't see it implemented based off the fact that it doesn't have place in the Elder Scrolls universe.
    • It might be implemented and make sense at some point as who the hell made all the jewelry you pick up in future games.

This about sums it up fairly well.

Um, crafting rings was introduced in Skyrim, it may not have a long history, but it does have a place in the TES universe.

I think it could become part of blacksmithing, because in Riverspire a blacksmith npc already crafts jewelry (quest).

Putting it with Blacksmithing or Enchanting wouldnt make sense. Blacksmithing and Clothing already have 112 total items that need to be researched. Enchanting is meant as a stand alone system for combining runes to make glyphs and has no real crafting ability, so that wouldnt make sense either. IF they do implement jewel crafting it will be its own system, much like spellcraft will be.

You could use them to fill out set gear. That's 3 items. Why wouldn't people want that?
