Most Survivable Class

Hi everyone.

I'm soon going to make a permadeath character to do a story-driven pve-run of the game from 1-vr12! I've done this for every TES game, and a few MMO's too. :) Naturally, PVP, and pug-dungeons are out of the question. ;)

Permadeath for those who don't know, is an attempt at a one-life character. Dying would result in my character's soul flying right back into Molag Bal's love-chamber. I enjoy the tension of trying to survive - so don't criticise me on this. ^_^

Anyway. I've got quite a few VR characters, so I have a strong knowledge of the game. But what I can't decide for the life of me is what class has the best survivability.

I'm currently torn between Templar and Dragonknight.

Dragonknight has the CC's, Razor armor and Dragonblood, and very nice ultimates: Standard and Corrosive Armor.

Templar has a huge tree for healing, puncturing strikes that heal as you damage, and the crescent sweep that provides damage reduction for each enemy hit.

Both are very tanky, and bad-ass right now.

I'll probably use a healing staff + sword and shield.

I'd love to hear some rabid theory crafting, or see some up-to-date videos of classes defying impossible odds and living.

Sorc imho, never had any problems with anything, but you need to be prepared to change builds a little, and use vampire.

Only problems sorc has is with bosses that can't be cc, but this is probably for all classes..

Group of 6 mobs? Ultimate not needed. 2-3x 6 mobs pulled? Bats+aoe and your hp won't even budge.

Heavy armor templar with X and sheild. (orc added some OK race ounuses)

Soloed everything from 1-VR12 except 2 optional bosses 1 at VR9 (a whispmother) and 1 at VR 10 (hadran and a healer).

Deep slash, extended ritual, honor the dead, blazing spear, radiant aura, Ulti of your choice. I tend to use empowering sweep or flawless dawnbreaker.

Throw down ground heal and sta regen. block, cast shards.
Hit things with deep slash and base attacks until they die (while blocking).
Use shards again when needed, and honor the dead if you are taking more damage than ground heal can handle. may need to refresh the ground heal, will definitely need to refresh sta regen in longer fights.

I know at least 2 heavy armor DKs that did pretty much the same, but more offensively than defensively.

I have played 8 different builds now. Honestly, the most "survivable" was by far my vampire NB, duel-wielding life siphoner. Heavily mana spec'd (only used blood craze for DW abilities).

I spent combats either cloaked or enjoying the 4 seconds of near invulnerability after decloaking.

Of course, the game has changed since then, so not sure if it works as well anymore.

When I did that build, cloaking interrupted all attacks, siphoning strikes made sure you never ran out of magicka.

yea.. not so much now. I have run into mobs that don't even flinch when you cloak. Started happening after 2.*.* Not sure if it is a bug or intended. It was the key ability I use to rely on as well along with shades and they suffer from the same issues.

Any class... but each class has a certain difficulty built into it as well.

One single ability abused by all DKs make them BY FAR the most survivable class. They continue to get tweaks (small nerfs) and hopefully these 1-2 specific skill abuse builds go away.

Classes will be much better when they do not have to rely on chain casting a single ability because it is vastly more powerful than other options.

You know I have never done the 'Iron Man' thing in any games I have played but for some reason this sounds really fun to me right now....

Maybe it's the Spiced Rum talking...

Templar is a survivable class but you'll still need to group to kill some high-health bosses at VR due to the current low dps of the class. That said that might change on Monday...

my main is a vr12 sors, and Im currently leveling a templer, gotta say templar survivability skill is off the chain, its so easy to play and I beat many of the world bosses alone, so for purely pve aspect for those two templar.

think I have died like 5-10 times the most in the first 35 levels

all the harborage quests I sail through, thinking what the heck did I do to wipe so much the first time :)

    I will advocate for Templars.

You can watch some videos from here and the tournament Legend just had where a templar beat the DK to come second and a sorc first here.
