Research Projects - Crafting, Insane timers, and NO ability to cancel?

Am I the only one who feels....wrong when not all of my research spaces are being utilized?

Ok, on topic, I would support a cancel button, but only on two conditions:

    1) Before its actual cancellation/deletion, there would be another "are you sure you want to cancel?" box brought up before the player. Kinda like when you upgrade something.

    2) It destroys the item.

If I had my way exactly, there would be added research time when they research that same item type with the same trait later on. Like, say, adding another 20% of time to research timer. A bit punishing, but I thinks it would discourage a cancel. However, that may be overboard.

That being said, I don't really have any real problem with the timers we have now atm. Helps make you feel 'specialized' in some way.

I do agree with OP about one thing. A cancel button would be nice.

It could still destroy the object you were researching and not really give anyone too huge an advantage.

If someone can make so many clicks to accidentally put the wrong item for research, then it is just as doable to hit cancel by mistake. Imagine the rage thread of someone that accidentally canceled a 25 day research at, for example, 4 days remaining.

Lets leave the cancel button out and lets be careful what we do.

That is not a problem. We just need a way to cancel the cancel.

I try to prioritize my research from least to greatest research time taken. It helps to optimize research time. Like if a trait takes 3 days to research and another takes 12 days, I research the 3 day first. Probably common sense to most people but I thot I'd mention anyways.

I have it already, but unless I'm using it wrong, it doesn't account for things you've got stored for later research and mules. I'm quite happy with pencil and paper.

I use a research assistant, it's pretty good (although it can't see into banker mule's inventory, but this hasn't been a problem for me. I just store all weapons / armour either in the bank or in the smith's own inventory). Massive time saver.

Well its a tradeoff. If you put all into a single item type, you can get to 8 faster. A month ago, when the first crafters reached 8, people were paying several thousand per piece for 8-trait crafted sets.

I honestly don't mind this. You set it up and forget about it until it is completed and then you get to do it over again.

Let this be a lesson learned. Always double check before you click.

At least the research time counts offline time, unlike some of the other timers. I agree that there needs to be a way to cancel though. That's just a quality of life improvement.

You should also get this one.

OMG this makes life so much easier. It cross references stuff in your bank AND it works with alts also once you have designated who your crafter is.

So if you are on an alt and come across a trait your crafter has researched, it will show it as researched. If you come across a trait your crafting alt needs to research it will tell you that too.

The only thing I am unsure if it does, is if you are on an chracter and you come across an item you need to research, if it tells you if your other characters have it in THEIR inventory. In the bank yes, but other chracters personal inventory not sure.

Nevertheless it makes selling and deconning stuff way faster and easier. I have mine set up to have no icon next to it if I have researched it already. Also can show inspiration items and intricate items at a glance without having to mouse over them.
