to be honest I really wanted to see for myself how I fared against the dreaded vet content. Im only v1 and still working thru cold harbor. is there any way i can get to vet zone before the patch without finishing the quests there?

Zenimax is fixing the obscene difficulty of VR content. That will get people to come back to ESO. This is a joyous moment for all. So when is update 3?

To me it felt that VR content got a small nerf in 1.2

Zenimax is fixing the obscene difficulty of VR content. That will get people to come back to ESO. This is a joyous moment for all. So when is update 3?

No game so far has won numbers by dumping down content, it would be a major surprise to me if ESO would be the first.

The nerf to VR content will have some serious consequences, consequences that many inexperienced players are not aware of.

First of all will the available content be shorten, so that you finish your quest´s and story lines much faster as mobs die easier, you can chain pull or completely avoid fighting.

At WOW it once took 3 months for level 60, today it takes 5 days to 90. Its a lot less content, but for the same amount of money!

Another problem is that everything that ZO has so far announced for VR 12 is based on groups. Either dungeons or trials.

How are players supposed to find like minded players if the level up content and the content at max level pre VR 12 doesn't require any interaction? People will reach VR 12 not knowing anyone - hitting a brick wall, while they hopelessly try to find a group that takes them into a trial or dungeon.

Last but not least, an MMO that doesn't support group content early, will create a very hostile community as everyone only relys on himself. Compare Vanilla WOW with MOP WOW. Its a huge difference and that difference slowly started to crawl up with WOTLK when the massive nerfs happened to quest content.

Those that celebrate now will soon realize how silly they were, the consequences are what you have to fear and they will hit you big time, sooner than you may think they will.

LOL, I took all 4 classes to VR1 and my main is just VR5. VR lvls never seemed hard to solo as it was. Now it looks like I might be able to blow right thru the VR lvls after they nurf them. Waiting might just have saved me a ton of time.

Hopefully they provide another place for solo players to find difficult content. It was refreshing to not just stroll through fights.

The only fights I've strolled through, even 1-50, has been on a min-maxed sorc with nearly everything in magicka (mid-30s somewhere). He's the only one who doesn't have to move his butt to avoid telegraphs and power strikes. Haven't even bothered with my clannfear the past little while, and that irritating thing is gone once I can get a certain other spell.

WoW made a good move getting rid of (most) group quests (they missed Ghostlands).

    [SNIP]

    Hurray for more solo-able content.

Maybe this change will get more people into vr zones, I hope it does because zone chat is dead over there. What I don't like about this is that they clearly have a team working on reducing the difficulty on vr content and I would like to see all hands working on the fps issue that has render the game unplayable for many of us.

Yes, thank you for listening ZOS. I think they've been reluctant to explicitly mention reducing difficulty because they know it divides people and some people won't be happy about any reduction in difficulty. Hopefully we'll see more people in VR regions and true group content will benefit from this too.

I have to say, I am somewhat disappointed by this decision. I really wish ZOS would erect the spine of standing up to the whiners already, but it seems with this company whenever the vocal minority complains they get whatever they want even if it ruins the game for the rest of us.

I will reserve final judgement however until I see how easy they actually make it...

I have felt all along that veteran zones were very well balanced even for solo play. 1-50 was actually boringly easy. I know that the majority of the player base was complaining about it being too hard though, so I understand in a way why ZOS felt the need to abandon their vision and concede defeat to the calls for a difficulty nerf, but still, a bit disappointing.

I honestly feel that part of the blame lies with the players. I think there is some overly stubborn refusal to try new skills and abilities to get through content, and people abuse the "play how you want" cliche to assume the should be able to beat things with fishsticks and win if they want to.

I really hope this isn't the beginning of the dumbing down of Elder Scrolls to WoW faceroll status, but I guess the vocal complaints always get what they want, so it was probably inevitable.

I have already been facerolling content with some minimal CC and actually using the mechanics we are given, and my fear is this will not only abandon the vision of veteran content as end game but also completely trivialize the whole purpose of block and rolldodge mechanics.

Skill? "Ain't no one got time for that!"

I erect the spine of my bruising sense of betrayal.

How will people find like minded people? Well, same way as now, in guilds or dungeon encounters via getting a group in zone chat / group finder.

I haven`t really grouped much so far in the game and i still managed to get some friends. I rely on guild and groupfinder/friendlist when I want to go to a vet dungeon, as well as on zone chat. I think most of my grouping so far was for the travel to player option or when i got a random invite but the other person did not even say hello and we went our ways and i left the party after 10 minutes of not talking.

And I am a social player, I really am, but the way that you can group now without actually grouping is great. You don`t have to stand at a boss and write "hey, inv me please. Hey. can you invite me? hey? don`t start it yet, I need it too! invi- go to hell". Or when someone is writing in zone chat that they need 1-2 more people for a boss and then you whisper them for an invite and they either don`t bother inviting or just say in a few minutes "sry full".

I do hope, too, that it won`t be overnerfed and the content will be still more difficult than 1-50 but I don`t want to keep dying at certain quest mobs just because they have OP armor penetration and heals that heal themselves/other mobs to full HP in a second and a half.

Of course, better rewards are needed, not just practical stuff like weapon and armor, but maybe a cool trophy or costume after each zone? Maybe a nice blue equipment after certain quest chains, like the ones in Cadwell`s Almanach, and one purple item after the zone? Or just a costume, a pet, a motif, or maybe a mount after finishing all the VR content.

I think the world is truly coming to an end, Ragnar_Lodbrok is happy(-ish) and some other people who were so far, are not. This was... unexpected, to say the least.

it depends on what they do, if they recalc the spell/armor penetration of the npcs to a reasonable level then that would be great, but if they make it even easier beyond that......then it'll just be boring.

I don't see why they can't just put a difficulty slider in. Give players a choice between tulip mode and bring 2 pairs of clean shorts mode, and somewhere in between. If a player wants to play a level 1 dungeon at VR12 or a VR12 dungeon at level 1 what is the big deal.

Sometimes i like to explore, but get annoyed with the constant fights, other times I want to slug it out while burning through 50 potions and 50 soul gems in a single battle. I just don't want to do either all the time.

I would gladly invest my time and money in a game that could offer both.

Unless the veteran rank 5-10 zones are overly challenging I have no idea where this mentality that veteran content is completely unplayable came from.

As it stands I've simply used more soul gems compared with my prior 1-50 questing experience and actually had to group up with people to complete public dungeons / bosses and dolmens / certain quests, which is good given this is a MMORPG and all..

But hey, if it appeases the minority, go for it I suppose. Still waiting on that Necromancer Class, Lich world skill line, endgame content and general bug fixes, but take your time I guess :confounded:.

Personally support the change. The concept of VR is asinine enough without it being difficult for most non optimized builds.

Questing should be relaxing and fun. If you want frantic fast paced 1 second or mistake could mean life or death gameplay... thats what dungeons are for.

So I fully support harder, group-centric, communication required dungeon romps. Most games call them raids, and ESO need more of them.

But leave the meat and potatoes the way it should be. Regular. BBQ extreme flaming sauce is for those who seek it out. Not poured vigorously on top of the main course regardless of whether you asked for it or not.

Just came on to rage about a fight: Uwafa VR4 Alik'r. The guy goes invincible after you do a bit of damage to him and summons 3 adds. he does this three times and his health resets after all of them. Not to mention he does around 500 damage by himself with light attacks. The only reason I beat him is because when I die, the mobs stayed active and I had about a 3 second period after I attacked them before the boss came at me. I literally had to die, take out a 3 man mob, die, take out a 3 man mob, die, take out a 3 man mob, then finally kill him.

So.....after that I take great pleasure in seeing this

At least you had the knowledge to know his health reset was an intended ability, unlike the player who thought the fight was bugged because "I keep killing him and then his HP regens".

At the time I wondered how someone could go from 1-50 plus VR ranks without understanding that regeneration is an attribute some special NPCs have. I guess we will be seeing more of those players.
