Possible solution to Cyrodiil Lag/FPS - update Logitech drivers

I was getting down to 6 FPS in Cyrodiil last night, but when I restarted my Logitech Gaming Framework driver (end task and then restart the program), the FPS went back up to the normal 50 or so.

Today, I downloaded and installed the latest version of them (LGS_8.53.154_x64_Logitech.exe), and I didn't have one issue in Cyrodiil all night, with others still complaining in zone.

Suggested to a guildie she restart her Logitech drivers, and she got an immediate improvement in FPS, though it came back for her after a while (she hadn't updated the drivers yet).

I've noticed other reports of people having issues with Logitech mice and the middle mouse button working, so perhaps it's related.

Could others try updating to the latest Logitech version and see if their problem goes away and then report here?

    No Logitech here..

Still dropping to 5fps from high 60s, and staying at 15-20 after it unless I relaunch the client.

Some have had success as well by opening UserSettings.txt in:

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live (or EU)

    And changing

    SET GPUSmoothingFrames "10"

    to

    SET GPUSmoothingFrames "0"

This FPS "increaser" has been around since release, but appears to solve the sudden FPS drop right now (for some at least).

I will try that when I get home.

If it works, it would only make more pathetic the fact about ZOS releasing a failfix for the issue in NA.

Well most players think such fixes work, but mostly it just works because they did a restart and a relog which fixes for some minutes the fps until you meet the next big zerg.

I participated in multiple big zergs and castle attack and defense and didn't have any FPS drop at all. I also upped all my graphics settings back to what they were (dropped them when I got the FPS issue initially, but it didn't seem to help) and still had my 50 FPS.

I've had at least a couple dozen say it worked permanently for them too.

Well Icy in my case and many others who I talk to in my guilds, the fps drop from 60s to 1-5s and it does not require to be in any great battle (tho it might be possible it just accelerate the process) or in Cyrodil at all so its not a poor performance due to hardware issue.

I was in Reapers March finishing the last sidequests I left behind for Tamriel Hero title and my fps dropped to 5 after exiting a public dungeon and being attacked by a bug. After it, my fps stayed at 16-23fps until I relaunched the client.

After login again, being in the same place I attacked the same bugs and had no issues. Slaughtered all the bugs I saw, no issue. Travelled to Craglorn and while I was walking to the crafting stations, 3-6 fps again.

@Archaon I understood it was mostly a Cyrodiil problem, at least that was the only place I experienced it and the only place I saw it reported here on the forums (though I wasn't searching very hard). Initially my FPS was fine, then I'd be near a zerg and it would drop and then not come back up to that 50fps without a relog, even if I moved away from the zerg. It's possible it was a time based thing, as I wasn't near any zergs for the first 20 min or so.

@Dominoid After I updated my Logitech drivers I haven't had the problem since, so I was wondering if this would help other people. Can you confirm that you updated the drivers too? ^_^

Of course, it won't be the case for everyone... But it's possible that there are other similar drivers that also cause the issue (or there is more than one issue).

It's unlikely that the problem is actually related to a graphics problem, as reducing my quality to low (and from other reports) didn't really seem to improve anything.
