Cyrodiil performance

The ridiculous thing about this patch that busted the game is that the main content that caused the patch to be so large is a vet dungeon that no one is playing. They spend so much time creating content for a tiny, tiny proportion of their subscriber base. Like Craglorn. What percentage of people have even set foot there? 2%?
That's always the case though, Raiding (usually content/progression) and PvP (normally balance fixes) tends to get the most attention. It's true here, we have raiding getting the content fixes, and we have Dev posts recognising FPS issues in Cyrodil that actually affect the entire game.

In practice, though, games have to improve in different directions, and usually the people making new content are not those fixing game bugs.

The Patch didn't fix the lag in Cyrodil, Whats next? Still cant play PvP in this game.

We're working on tracking down the additional causes of FPS drops (particularly in Cyrodiil) that today's fix did not resolve.

I assume this means were stuck with this build until next Monday even if you find a fix for the ongoing issue?

I wonder if i can ever play again and say to myself the game runs as fine as before the patch.
Even if they fix it, i am sure somehow i am going to think to myself at the slightest fps drop....**** that did run smoother in the past.

PvP was running just fine, wish they had concentrated on pvp gameplay changes.
Btw it is hard to have faith in a product which requires apparently several iterations to fix something as trivial as a percental trigger chance.

There's a memory leak for sure, with 8 gigs of ram I watch my Ram start around 35% used and slowly creep up till it's almost 70% used. My GPU and CPU seem fine.

When craglorn came out there was a definite memory leak, i saw the same thing as you, it was a gradual creep up till the point were i could not even alt-tab out, and had to hard reboot my system, until i got mem-clean wich fixed it when i felt the creep up.

Whats going on now is totally different for me, my memory hovers around 35% usage, in cyrodiil im fine as long as i dont start seeing the glowy yellowish balls on the ground, i see those i know im screwed.

They look like the balls you see on top of a seige bubble, but are on the ground instead of the air, i cant think of what else leaves that type of partickle effect.

So much for your "Custom Engine", which I hardly believe anyway. What's going on here, the people on your team who created this engine should know it intimately inside and out.

To me it feels like you guys outsource every major issue and that's the reasoning why you cannot hotfix major issues and we're constantly waiting for the elusive Monday that will FINALLY fix this game.

Maybe take chill pills peeps, it will likely get better or they will roll out the lighting issue.

Myself I love the ability to see rune nodes miles away now ;)

Also, to help read this weekend to clear a path for ESO to ignore windows firewall and I did it and it game ran Way smoother. Sadly I havnt done any hardcore RvR since making that change.... but I would say this is something everyone should do just as a matter of course.

The content of your post sucks, I'll just pretend it doesn't exist. Thanks for the advice.

On topic: What would be helpful is if ZOS would make a pinned official thread for ppl to provide feedback about the FPS issue - in which devs would respond as well with updates on what they are doing to fix it throughout the day, so there can be back and forth dialogue.

This type of action is standard in other games I've played when massive game breaking issues arose, and would go a long way to helping create a positive atmosphere among the player community. The FPS issue merits this type of focus because it truly is game breaking for the ESO endgame. In no world is single digit FPS for the majority of your game's population in the least bit acceptable.

FPS issues fixed for me. Haven't had it drop below 50 yet today.

But just to fit in... Everything here sucks. I could do everyone's job better. L2P ZOS. Every thought and opinion I have is intelligent, will be voiced and should be immediately addressed, regardless of content.

There is a good and reasonably focused thread for addressing bugs in 1.2.3 and communicating about upcoming bug fixes. Look in the "developer's discussion" part of this forum. It's a sort of informal bug tracker, but summarized and focused on the major issues. If the nice trend continues, they will keep updating that thread, or create new ones for future problems.

I suspect it works something like this...

Zos: Is that update ready yet?

Some programmer in India: Yes we will email to you shortly.

Zos: Ok the update is ready .

Dev about to apply patch: Oh wait has this been tested?

    Zos: I assume so.

Dev: Oh well we will soon find out I guess.

Sorry but we no longer have any confidence in your diagnosis of causes for fps drops. For what it is worth, we no longer have any confidence in the developers and coders to do what is needed to make this chaos stable.

I dont see how these patches get thru the quality control, this lags reminds me of what swotor lag was like in Illum, just as bad, a slide show. My give a *** is just about broken in this game, if things were getting better i could live with it, but really there not.

Based on the current Cyrodill performance, I'd day they didn't fix a damn thing in regards to the fps drop out. I think they are now resorting to placebo bs fixes. Makes me wonder how many engineers are left at ZOS.

We could say Mr. Lol feature carried Cogo all the way to the top.

The very same who was calling names in the memory leak thread to people for trying to play this greatly optimized 32bits shtako client with so little RAM. Of course the leak itself did not affect him, as he had a proper high-end rig with zillions of GBs of the fastest RAM that allowed him to know the leak was made up by poor whinners (or whinning poors?) in a 3d world ghetto.

I think hes just looking for a job.

If they wait until Monday again to apply another "fix", they're going to lose *more* people. Another weekend at 10fps is unacceptable.

Yeah, there is no way an issue with either the server or the client and the resultant communication with the video card could ever cause this sort of problem. Never in a million years could that happen. Please tell me you're not a developer or engineer by profession.

This lag/dropped FPS is not exclusive to Cyrodiil, although it definitely is far more prevalent there.

Zenimax you really need to get your act together because this patch did not fix anything and in fact broke even more of the game for me! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Ok maybe I spoke prematurely - maybe everyone downloading the patch caused the servers to slow down or something because after logging back in later tonight I was able to run PvE and PvP content at acceptable and most importantly CONSISTENT frame rates.

It was pretty great actually! This was the first time in Cyrodiil where I was able to see each player's continuous movement instead of the characters stuttering as they moved. Abilities actually fired when I expected and there was little to no slow down even on my older machine.

Looking forward to more improvements like this!
