How long are chat logs stored for

I was wondering for many reasons how long chat logs are stored in the ESO database.

First reason involves when I report another player for spamming, gold selling, and etc. in Zone chat and I don't take a screenshot of the gold spammer if Zeinmax has the ability to search any chat that the player has ever typed in the game since when they have started plaing. If Zeinmax does have the ability to search anything a player has typed do they only have the jurisdiction to do so if someone has reported that individual.

Second reason that concerns me if data is kept and stored in Zeinmax database and I have talked about personal information to my friends that this can be possibliy read any time for any reason? Also, can Zeinnax sell any of the chat log information to companies?

I have read through the terms of agreement and don't see anything about the stuff I am mentioning, so that is why I am looking for some kind of answer from Zeinmax. I am mainly concerned about my rights and privacy as a gamer while playing Elder Scrolls Online and I feel I have a right to know.

Did you open a ticket or just want the response here?

Don't hold your breath to get any operational details of anything related to how GMs function, what their abilities or limits are, etc. They almost certainly want people to think that they keep chat logs indefinitely, even if they only keep them for a handful of days. So 1) they actually do keep them forever (doubtful), and tell us about it, 2) they keep them for N days but lie about it, or 3) they keep silent.

    1) or 3) is preferable to 2).

Your not going to can an answer. Some things should remain unknown to the end user. If you have a specific need for retrieval, open a ticket.

I believe I have the right to know what is being done with the information I discuss in chat logs. It should be an inherit right that I should know. It is my thoughts being expressed.

Read your TOS and EULA. Every time you login and play ANY GAME you forfeit those rights your purport to have. You should read your Windows or ISP EULA then put your computer curbside with the trash. Have you ever used a computer or piece of software before?

I'd open a ticket. They are likely to have some kind of policy on logs. Either keep them all which means they have to produce them upon legal request or they delete them after a certain amount of time so they don't have to produce them upon legal request. The second is a lot less work if a request is made. Obviously the do keep them for a period of time for investigation purposes. An an example I know of in the past is in divorces or terrorism cases. Lawyers are going to ask about what a person said in game and the work involved in getting them and redacting everyone's private info is a major pain.

I'd open a ticket so the person that gets the request can go ask about the policy and reply to you. It's less likely in my opinion that they are going answer on thier forums.

Be aware it's likely that they won't tell you as it's part of thier security structure and they aren't going to give our information that could be used inappropriately by people trying to game the system. I know you won't like that fact but it's probably the case
