@ZENIMAX - Beat This, Show ESO Fans You Care

I'm sure most of you have heard of EVE (some of you may even have played it). Well for those who don't know every year CCP (EVE's makers) do something called fanfest. Basically a massive game Expo, combined with parties, drinking and Dev/Player interaction. (I went to the 2011 Fanfest and had possibly one of the best holidays I've 'ever' had)

This was the format for the 2014 Fanfest
http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/fanfest-2014-a-festival-for-the-best-of-fans/

@Zenimax you guys are bringing the EU mega-server to the EU (apparently) so why not do something like this to help launch it !
It would show the players you give a **** about us, showcase ESO and what's in store for the ESO future. You could also use this to push ESO console information/updates

Hell, you'd have my ticket money same day you announced it ! ! !

When ZO is the size of Blizzard, then they can consider hosting their own specific company convention. You may have noticed that no other gaming company can afford this.

Umm.. CCP.. the makers of EVE arn't the size of Blizzard.. Yet they can afford to do 4 day conventions.
Actually i think Zenimax are about 3 times the size of CCP..

Uhmm...no idea what any of that is. Not an MMO'er...just liked Skyrim, did play Age of Conana and I do watch Big Bang Theory if that helps, but bringing a server to show...or going to show won't show me they care. Continuing to fix bugs and improve the game, and develop more content show me they care.

im going say your wrong here in so many ways a games life is started when its released to the public. not when the game is announced our they start the think tank on the game. every thing up to release is much like a baby in the womb or a chick in an egg you don't count how old your are from the time your mom and dad conceived you now do you or for any thing els really so why would you do that for a game so once the game is released is when its officially born

    A "bit" bigger?

Again, I'm sure you have a great time at the EVE convention, but it's a massively reduced budget from Blizzcon. At Blizzcon, they get real celebrities, huge crowds, a location in America, etc.

There's nothing wrong with EVE having their own little shindig, but it is little in comparison to Blizzcon, because Blizzard is an absolute behemoth.

Well... There's always gamescom in Germany (August this year). I went there last year, and blizzard's booth always had events like mini blizzcon.
I think zenimax / Bethesda had their booth as well, though I wasn't really interested in eso yet, but I remember seeing eso and wolfenstein trailers on displays while passing by.

Ya... give them a little bit to get to the point where they have a ESO-CON....

right now they should be focused on keeping their game from tanking...

its not really that they cant... just not yet... no game does a convention on its release year... save maybe that star wars one... but that already has its own convention for the star wars series it can just piggy back on...

There really are not Conventions for the elder scrolls atm... this game can change that but it needs to be successful to pull it off..

Eve is great, I've played it since 2006. But one of the above posters is right. Cons or Fanfests are usually a yearly event so it's not unreasonable to hope that ZoS might actually have an ESOCon or something like it around April of next year.

You do know that apart from Fanfest, CCP also hold smaller weekend events too? Last year they hosted in London, France, Germany, New York and Vegas (don't think I missed any)
Also unlike Blizzcon with is basically just a huge Expo, Fanfest has the Devs/Mods/Execs actually mingle with the players on a personal basis. both at the event and afterwards at social gatherings. CCP_Fozzy can drink like a Nord...lol (that guy is an animal) and funny as hell.
CCP are so proud of their players they had an actual monument built with the names of all currently subscribed players engraved onto it !
Tell me you seriously expect Zenimax to do anything like that !

@Zenimax - Guys you do an ESO Fanfest and I'll not only buy a ticket, I'll take out a 12 month sub ! ! !

I wouldn't call it a pat on the head. Its not like they are doing us any favours. They may have forked out a quarter of a billion to start with, but who exactly is it that's paying for that in the long term?
Besides the whole point of Fanfest is to bind EVE as a 'community', and that's one thing EVE has in abundance !

    ;)

Quote from the EVE Fanfest blog

"If you see me walking around the venue or sitting in a pub, don’t hesitate to come talk to me or any other developer for that matter, that’s what we are there for!"

    See you there!

Sorry but I just don't ever see a certain Mr Sage or Mr Firor saying that (I'd like to think I'm wrong though)

Indeed, and I'll gladly except the title of ESO fanboi. Some people love the game, some hate it, many others are somewhere in between those. One person's opinion isn't my opinion and both of us might be right or wrong on the very same topic.

That is fine if you do not care. How is this productive to this suggestion? If you feel that it would not impact you as a player then why post? This is an idea the OP would like to see where many people who of like mind can get together and discuss/enjoy something in common. As you have clearly indicated this is not something you would enjoy so why even bother to post in the thread?

As a person who has been to Blizzcon a few times also behind the scenes I can assure you that a lot of human and financial resources are put into that event.

These resources are deducted from the available funds for the actual development team, voice acting, story writers or community crew.

I often had the feeling that all the money and human capital which was put into the graphics, layout and or little movies and live bands that they show at Blizzcon, would had been better invested into the actual game.

Maybe I am alone with that opinion but I would prefer that my money is spent wise and not wasted for stuff that doesn't help the game at all, but is a huge marketing gag for the company.

I give you that, Blizzard does really nice things at Blizzcon and being able to ask the Dev´s is great if you manage the queue. Yet the Blizzcon got bigger every year, but their games worse in the same time.

Personally I would like to see a weekly brief of a Dev, where he or she explains what they did this week. It doesn't even need to be much, maybe a few lines. But I am afraid that if ZO would do that, then a lot of people would complain even more as this very forum has proven multiple times already.
