Obscenely long Public Dungeon Champion spawn timers.

Is there any particular reason for this? I'm trying to polish up some achievements and I'm having to spend hours waiting for bosses to decide to show up. I might get 2-3 on the first run through (as well as the group challenge) and another couple shortly afterwards, but there is almost always one that doesn't want to spawn until you've stood in the same spot for an eternity.

Has anybody else been frustrated by this? I'm just wondering what the thinking behind it is. No normal dungeon boss has this long of a spawn timer, even when you have already completed it and you don't get the insta-spawn.

I just can't figure out why it doesn't follow the same system, especially when many dungeons require you to last hit to get credit. - this has been fixed

I would really love a developer rationale on this one. Are you trying to get us to rack up game time standing around or something?

While I still don't understand the reason for them not being on individual timers or a rotation, we do at the very least understand how the spawns themselves work.

Basically, there is normally 2-3 global timers per dungeon, allowing for 2-3 bosses to be up at a time. every time a boss is killed the timer starts counting down - some dungeons, such as cyrodiil delves, it is exactly 10 minutes. For a lot of public dungeons it seems to be a lot shorter. When the timer goes off, a random boss spawn. Some bosses may have a smaller chance of spawning than others, but often it is just bad luck.

If you're heading for a conquerer achievement, good luck! You'll probably need it.

    I went back to Crows Wood for a bit to try to get some of those kills. Went to the spawn point of one I missed, put on a music album, and waited.

    And waited.

    And waited.

    Some people showed up, we got to talking. Mostly about random stuff, the virtues of drinking out of a splintering mug instead of a golden wine goblet for instance, or the various emotes and how each race had a different dance. We had fun combining /playdead and /pushups, but that got awkward really quick and decided to return to normalcy. And so we waited.

    And waited.

    And waited.

    The bots outside kept farming the wolves for their rawhide, so sometimes we put out some AoE of our own both to limit their efficiency and get some ourselves. Can't let bots have all the fun, you know? But since they're bots, they can keep up the routine far longer and don't get bored with it. So we went back to our original purpose of waiting for the boss to spawn.

    And waited.

    And waited.

    An hour later, the album I put on ended. I knew then that it was time to go; no five point awardment was worth this kind of time investment, and since there were by then a dozen people hanging out it was unlikely that everyone would get a chance to get a hit in especially since most were level 40+. And so, I submitted a piece of feedback concerning spawn times and went about my day.

    In the feedback, I wrote that five or ten minutes is a really short respawn time so might be best suited for the lowest level dungeons. Fifteen to twenty is kinda reasonable, especially for lower level stuff. Twenty to fourty is OK, I guess. I've seen worse, but those had a special purpose such as a unique combat or vanity pet, perhaps a title or other thing that made it worth camping. But over an hour with no end in sight for something that grants nothing other than a step in an awardment with no reward? Nope. I'm a patient person, and don't expect everything in an MMO to be instant gratification. But I also have outside time constraints, and even other things in the game I would rather do. I've done the camping for weeks thing, taking turns logging in just so that I could call the guild in case something we were after spawned, even installed addons that alerted me to specific things in case I forgot I was looking for it or it spawned when I was on the john. Not gonna do it again.

    I've experienced a similar bug(?) in Crow's Wood. Myself and another player grouped and killed all champions plus the group achievement. Though we killed Grizzlehide... I did not get an achievement. Waited 30-45 minutes... no respawn. Returned to check on 5 different occasions, at different real world times... no respawn. I'm all for rare spawns, but this is a little silly. I have yet to even see Drel spawn inside Sanguine's Demise.

    I have had the same issues with both world bosses and dungeon bosses. On the flip side of this, I was running Lion's Den in the Rift last night with a friend. We were fighting the giant boss with his two mammoths. We could get two of the three down, but before we could get the last down, one of them would respawn. Then the other before we got that one down and so on.
    This is yet another issue that should have been addressed in beta.

    I had the same thing in Crow's Wood. After an hour, I was really bored and wanted to leave, but I just waited for a freaking hour, and I didn't want it to be for naught. So I kept waiting. Got a lot of rawhide. Then my phone rang, I went to get it quick, and, wouldn't you know it, the stupid Grizzlehide spawned and somebody killed it while I was gone. *sighs* So I logged off for the day.

    But the next day, he was sitting in his cave all nice and pretty, so I killed him and got my achievement. So all's good.

    This is actually almost funny. The group challenge boss seems to spawn within 10 mins or so usually. The little minibosses you need for achievements? Haha.
    Checked that in one of the publics - the group challenge was like right next to a miniboss. By the time miniboss spawned, group challenge spawned like 10 times(I had a lot of free time that day, yes). What exactly is the logic of that?

    Dunno, I'm a completionist but I gave up on minibosses achievements. I just try to complete quests and group challenge in publics now.

    They are especially long in cyrodil delves. And from what I noticed, in some of those dungeons with multiple bosses only 1 of the bosses will be up at a time, probably due to a bug of sorts.

    Yeah, to do Cyro bosses you will really want a couple of people so that you can watch the boss spawns.

    How a lot of them work is that there is a global 10 minute timer for the dungeon, after one boss dies, the timer starts. Once it counts down from 10, another random boss in the dungeon spawns.

    There are some that are different, but thats how it is for the vast majority.
    eg. There is a dungeon with 4 ghosts on a lower level of which 2 spawn at a time (on a very short timer, like, 2 minutes) and one spider boss upstairs which seems to be totally separate and on an assishly long timer.

    but yeah, look up a guide (I found a russian forum post with all the pictures) to figure out which bosses you need and where they spawn. Then just rotate between them and kill any that are up to hopefully spawn the other one the next time.

    All the solo dungeons are fine.

    Its just the public dungeons that have a lot of perceived issues... and if they are intended 'features' then that is an issue in and of itself.

    Thats just stupid if it's intended. They should just all be up on their own timers in every dungeon. I just want to kill them get my achieve and go back to the fight.

    Yeah, it can mean that, especially solo, killing all 3 bosses in say, Bloodmayne cave (AD area), can take upwards of an hour if you get a little unlucky. quite frustrating.

    It MAY take longer, but I dont get why so many follow guides instead of themselves.

    However. There are broken quests/dungeons confirmed. If you find any. Feedback it.

    They do listen to feedback and do fix things. :-)

    Bah, bloody sneaky ***! I have to fight my way down. And if I dont have a friend with me, Ill spend quite some time dying, before I give up and go look for a troll to run from.

    I feel like you can't have spent much time questing and delving on cyrodiil as a low-level player.

    If you actually read my message, even if you go through and look for the boss, 9/10 it isn't there. If you didn't look online you wouldn't know how to try and make it spawn, and would doublessly give up on proceedings and just move on after killing all the bosses you can see and obtaining the sky shard.

    I'm waiting now over 4h in Rulanyil’s Fall for Skirar the Decaying and every second gets me closer to cancelling my sub.. Wrote 2 ticket, for 1 I got a useless reply, 2nd is being ignored.

    For now, it is better to do the quests in public dungeons, grab the shard and just leave.

    Come back for achievements and group challenges when they actually get fixed.

    I probably would, but now I'm only missing the achievements in Cimson Cove and Vile Manse, and the bugged group challenge in Forgotten Crypts (it's still bugged right?).
    Also I managed to beat the last champion in Rulanyil's, it spawned after about 4.5h waiting (I finished like 8 eps of Psycho-Pass on 2nd screen and ate my dinner..).

Not waiting for hours, I'll find something more interesting to do and maybe come back for the missed achievement when it's actually fixed.

    I played Cabal before and was used to farming dungeons over 200 times for a single drop (best: 500x one ~25 min dungeon without a single one) so u can say I'm a patience-vet12 :P

    There seems to be at least one boss with ridiculously long timers in each dungeon if not two.

    Yeah some of them are ridiculous. I gave up on those achievements for now, I still have better things to do in-game.

    Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

    Actualy public dungeon bossess have a spawn timer about 2 mins... ALL OF THEM.
    You just have to take into account that there can be only 2 bossess at a time ! This means that if you dont see the boss you need to kill cycle around and kill all other bosses you meet in order to trigger new spawns. Still there is no 100% chance to spawn a certain boss. Same boss can spawn again and again and some certain bossess can just dont spawn at all no matter how many times you killed other bossess.

    Just seems I've been rather lucky as it never took more than 4 rounds to have them all spawned. Still looking at an hour long boss farm, but that's still better than the reported spawn times here.

    I've previously had the same boss spawn 7+ times in a row (out of 2)

    Also, when there is a 10 minute global spawn if there are 3+ bosses it can easily take more than an hour.

    And sometimes there are bosses separate from the cycle in a dungeon which seem to just take a long time.

    I get really long spawn timers. I'm not a fan, but I get it.

    I kind of get things you have to get the last hit in to get the credit. Okay, not really, seems dumb, but whatever.

    But long spawn times AND needing to get the last hit? That's just bad. Cruel, awful, and just bad.

    Suppose it's a case of too much RNG then, as people apparently end up on the wrong side of the spectrum. Fixed amounts of kills and order of spawns would make much more sense.
