Please STOP messing with game graphics! "improved interior lighting" in 1.2

I don't think the issue is GPU related but rather CPU related and/or memory related and/or driver related.

I run a GTX 770 with an old as heck AMD 965 BE, 790x chipset, and 4gb of RAM. I can turn down most setting for only a modest improvement over running everything high/ultra.

I hope the optimization come fast so I can stop reading stupid threads like this though. Like others have said, there are plenty of ugly MMOs out there that you can run on one's store bought 2001 machine.

    EDIT:
ok last part was mean. must.. have... my... coffee.

My issue with this change is that some idiot thought it was more important to devote precious and limited developer time to this trivial and unneeded item than it was to have the devs fix actual problems in the game like broken quests and skills. I do not understand this reasoning at all.
I think they have more then one computer and more then one developer.
It is also not a mystery that only X people can work on any problem (field) effectively without getting in each others ways.
And it's also not a mystery that a graphics guy has trouble helping in any way with lags in Cyrodyl.

Or would you rather they jsut took everyone - janitor, receptionist and community managers - and ordered them to work on the same problems?
Sounds like not very well though out.

I'm personally all for graphical improvement, though yes, they should be tested to ensure they don't too adversely affect the FPS of systems they have listed as minimum requirements.

Haven't noticed any dip in fps. Getting 40-60 prepatch, getting 40-60 post patch. Don't know. Middle of the road seems middle of the toad here so far. :)

Edits hhehe middle of the toad. That made me giggle. Stupid typos.

All of the improvements they've made since day one haven't dropped my FPS at all. I don't even have a high end gaming rig either. ESO is by far one of the smoothest running (graphically) MMO's out there. Yes I agree Cyro needs some serious attention to FPS issues, but outside of that it's great overall.

    Dear ZOS,

Each major patch you introduced has degraded game performance significantly.

Maybe you are proud of your improved graphic here and there, but you cannot put these type of cosmetic changes above the performance!

If your improved interior lighting means another 5 fps drop, you are effectively killing this game, since it already requires very high level graphic card to play at good video settings.

    THINK OVER IT! OPTIMIZE IT!

Also, as far as I'm concerned ZoS should continue improving graphics as high as the current mechanical system we have in place that we call the internet will allow. There are PLENTY of players with really good PC's and very good internet that would love that. ZoS even said they're working on just that, and an option for low end graphics for meh pcs.

mate, do you can think ot your head empty?

I repeat again: before patch, my average FPS in the PVE was 90-100, afterpatch - 50-60. The same comp, the same Windows, the same ingame setting and the same number of addons.
Only one was changed: patch installed.

I'm confused are you complaining that you ONLY get 50-60 FPS now? 50-60 FPS is great compared to most MMO's with FAR crappier graphics.

    That's a fairly significant drop.

@someuser: The point isn't what is now, but that it dropped that much. Imagine having 20-30 FPS before and then it drops like that ... at which point you can't even play.

Yeah. If before I said "ouch, my FPS dropped for some reason (i.e. in Cyro)" that means 50-60
    Now it means 20-30

There is very little applicable difference between 60 FPS and 100 FPS other than the number.

I thought I remembered reading that eso would not exceed 60hz, or something to that effect (in relation to the most recent conversation about dropping from 100 fps)

The key word is optimized. I love the new lighting but if it has anything to do with Cyrodiil or anchors being borked to 5-10fps or anything else combat related then it's not worth it.

Hz is the screen refresh rate. FPS is how many screen shots you get every second for the illusion of motion. However I do remember something about ZoS instituting a refresh rate cap of 60 or 70Hz, but that wouldn't effect someones FPS drop.

Oh I know, I was just wondering if eso even supported over 60hz, where having over 60fps would actually matter. I couldn't recall if it was a dev response or player tested knowledge.

    I appreciate the response though!
