Do toxic and constantly crying posters on the forums make you feel less inclined to play this game?

With any MMORPG comes it's fair share of trolls and toxic members who only seem only to exist to put a negative overlaying tone on the game.

Said players have affected me in the past. I always try to be a helpful part of the community, but encountering these players (every day) in the past has lead me canceling subscriptions. Their constant crying and frustrations seem to shape other's opinions of the game.

I'm curious to see if there are other like me. Perhaps there is more needing to be done to prevent such blatant malicious behavior.

Don't get me wrong. This is the best MMORPG I have ever played and I've been through most. But after a long day at work, and having to read with these types of posters over and over on the forums, I feel less interested in playing that night.

They can easily make you think things are worse than they are. I was terrified of VR due to them. But now I'm doing VR for the second time on my second NB, I'm doing just fine with dual wield and bow in medium armour. These here forums had me believe it was not possible or enjoyable, but I'm finding it's both.

I guess more people should play for the enjoyment of their class rather than it's power, they would post less bile if they did.

Reading the forums at work just really makes me want to play the game.

I have the character flaw of taking other people's opinions about stuff I like personally and I get defensive about it, but it doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the thing itself.

No, actually have the opposite effect, I think it feed my ego seeing these 'trivial' problems I do not have ;)

Example nightblade being so hard and weapon skills being underpowered.

Edit: less nclined to write in the forum though. Ingame atmosphere is so much different :)

For me, no, However I'm sure there are people out there that are effected by it enough. Which I'm sure is a goal of these toxic personalities - to ruin the fun of others.

Not really, but I do find it depressing since I visit forums to ask questions and feel, on this forum, that it is a bad idea. I also visit to get hints or find insights for better play and that, too, is an unlikely occurrence. I was active on the Xbox Skyrim forum and it was never as negative as this one even at the beginning and grew to be a pleasant, helpful and encouraging community. I briefly played LOTRO ad that forum was truly wonderful to new players. I hope for that here but right now I know I risk being flamed even with these mild comments and that is sad.

The forum whiners make me less inclined to visit here as much.
We all know who the usual suspects are.
But i'll play the game whatever they say.
It just makes you think they have an agenda and I wish they would *** off.
When I stop playing a game I leave the forum behind as well, move on to the next one.

I guess you could have a similar poll for all the people complaining about the complainers because there are plenty of those as well. If you enjoy the game in it's current state but other people complaining about things they don't like makes you quit..I would say it doesn't say much about your strong opinion of the game because every game has an element who will voice their displeasure with various aspects of the game they don't like or agree with. If you have no issues then why spend so much time reading the forums anyway? Just play the game.

I read the forums mainly for knowledge, to learn what issues there are, and to learn what workarounds or fixes there may be for those issues. In the process, we are going to come across those occasional rage rants, mainly from people extremely frustrated with the bugs. It doesn't affect my desire to play the game, that will come from the game itself or ZOS's response to fixing my particular issues.

Constantly moaning players about "[class or spec name] underpowered, buff us" or "[class or spec name] overpowered, nerf them" instead of learning to play, are pretty annoying sure, but I didn't take too much care about this.

If said players have affected your fun and enjoyment of your entertainment, you are too focused on the opinions of others and should avoid forums/public chat. You already know these said players exist in every game, you've said so yourself, so only you are to blame for your own loss of interest and/or cancelled subscription.

If negative people influence you to cancel a sub, you didn't really care for the game in the first place.

It can get a bit wearing at times, just like zone chat. I can turn zone chat off, but for me forums are a massive part of games, especially MMOs. I love reading other people's thoughts, points, play style choices and general rambling. If it's overly negative and trollish, I find myself becoming more prickly too. It's a bit of a negative feedback thing, which can be hard to break out of and can bury a forum community.

As a case in point, I'm a big Bioware fan and used to love reading and interacting with other people and devs on their forums. I wouldn't go near the place now as it's a revolting cesspit.

I think we as fans need to think a bit more before we post, but it can be easy to forget when you're frustrated and want somewhere to rant. It's also difficult to swallow a well-meaning "calm down" nudge at that point too, so the flame wars start.

I stayed to play with my 19 year old son. I am a big MMO fan but this was the first one he was interested in and I enjoyed the shared bonding. If not for him I would not have played it at all.

As far as I am concerned, people can whine all they want, I still play as long as I enjoy it.

Mind you, I meant this for whiners only, constructive criticism is different and they should be on forums. Problem is, these are often the minority when it comes for criticism.

I mostly read forums while not at home anyway, while I am at home and I have time, I play instead of reading the forums.
