I love this game, and actually would just love to see forums on how good or changes we would like. Instead what I see is children(I'm 20) who don't even know how to treat people with respect.

Are you telling me you people who are 30+ haven't learnt to treat someone with respect yet? A game is like a baby, people have pride in the work. The comments directed as hate spewing towards the developers is awful. If your friend was a developer how would you talk to him, that's how it you should speak.

Also another note, why you feel so intitled. Big whoop you spent 15$ a month your so important(sarcasm). No one want to know if you leave. When I left wow I was subscribed for 6 months of not playing it because I thought I would. And guess what? I didn't spew hate on forums or talk about it when I did

well with all due respect i think that when you become older yourself you will have a better understanding of interaction. yes rudeness is not really acceptable. however you lack understanding of why folk complain.

as a dev i would much rather see folk here complaining for change than simply walking away silently. why? simple . if folk are complaining for change they still care and are invested in your product. they want to love it but want change to allow them to do that.
If they simply walk away silently they dont give a *** about your product any more. they are gone and no longer care what you do.

"theres only one thing worse than being talked about, and thats not being talked about"
    Oscar wilde

and you need to re-evaluate the word entitlement. folk who pay money for a product or service are entitled to expect certain things of that. I know americans in particular have allowed republican politics to somehow change the word to mean something bad, which is sad. however entitlement is not an evil. would the founding fathers have not wrote the constitution vastly diffrent had they took the view that nobody is entitled to expect stuff?

    The amended constitution

" don't expext anything You lot with your entitlement issues , just accept what you get and shut it ! "

A halfassed unfinished product is never accepted I don't care what it is. Respect is earned not given. Rude customer service over the phone or stupid canned emails that do not fit the issue reported are telling YOU the same thing. Said company got your money and could not careless what the problem is they just want you shut up and go away. IF you ok with that good for you. I will get what I paid for or my money back. and with this product I will continue to hammer the forums here and elsewhere unit then. If that make some people butthurt its too bad. get over it or don't read the forums.

It's passion for the game that drives the complaining. What hamon said explains it much more eloquently then I am able.

Also, if the mods/devs communicated more I GUARANTEE there would be much less hostility.

Its all fun and games until one of the habitual whiners gets flamed, then they call foul for not allowing them to spew vileness at the devs in peace.

Kinda like the big bully at school who acts so tough, until you break his nose and he starts bawling like a 12 year old girl who just discovered the mestruation cycle.

Look at the simcity forums. There are basically no new discussions there, be it positive or negative. Why? Because the game has failed so miserably that no one bothers posting anything anymore.

I am happy people are still angry here, that means the customers still care. The day that even negative commenters dont post anymore is the day the game is nearly dead

    This ^^

I was one of the wierdos that had high hopes for Defiance when it launched. The vitriol was high after the first week. After the first month, you could see the forums slowly dying.

The sad part is that you get used to it. I've seen this in every game I played that had an official forum online.

Normally most of the stuff is filtered out for the devs and they just get a condensed version of all this mess.

Forum mods have thick skin or will build it up after a while.

Don't worry too much and when you feel like thanking them for something just make a new thread for it.

The forum can be a bit toxic. As usualy for a Forum. Especially after a major patch that breaks a few things here and there.
But before the patch people actually had to start complaining about not having Maintenance because they were out of less wierd things to blow out of proportion.

The ingame Community is actually quite nice now:
Have not seen one Goldspam or one attempt of "use english in /zone" trolling for several weeks now.
I had one trying a "this game is boring" approch combined with Yoda spelling, but everyone saw through that and he stopped after his first sentence.

OK, so respect is earned, not given? If that's your motto, why do you hammer a forum which should be here for interesting ESO community game discussions, and not nerd rage rants from someone that apparently didn't do the homework before spending money? Do you really think you hurt ZOE by spamming a general discusion game forum with endless criticizm, and force them to a refund? The only one you hurt with such crap is the ESO players actually playing the game and enjoying their time, the part of the community that cares for the game and contributes with constructive feedback. But you're probably to egocentric to care. So respect my *ss.

Seriously especially the older audience. It's shameful that someone who younger is outwitting you in terms of social interaction. And I'm anti social, I have no friends and love it.

If you look, the traffic goes both ways.

The amount of snot nosed, bile from those defending the game, is just as nonsensical, and unpleasant. I can even names one or two frequent names, that I took an instant disliking to, and have only ever seen the odd post with any helpful information. And even then they were followed with a direct passive aggressive insult.

And now you mention it, one of them tried excusing his bile, saying he was a developer himself, and suggested it was because he felt involved. Even though many other similar disgusting passive aggressive insults, not related to that have come from his keyboard. He is just a nasty, arrogant, and unpleasant person looking to cut people down to feel better about himself. Let that one sink in. The devs can be just as bad.

Let's be honest here no matter where you stand, there is no excuse for rudeness. I have hang ups with this game and am baffled by the decisions made in it's direction myself, while admittedly, largely enjoying the game. But, I would not care to stand shoulder to shoulder with the ranters, and those who would wish the game to fail, to feel better about themselves. Even if I did not like this game, I would not wish such a thing.

Alas though, as I said elsewhere, the truth is, no matter what you or I say to those people, they will likely not change their habits, behaviour and beliefs, off the back of what we may post. Best to just scroll down, or look for another thread.

I think it's just part of growing up. Children like to push limits and see how far they can take things until someone puts them in their place. Sometimes it just takes longer. :)

The in-game community is actually not bad. I've had plenty of pleasant interactions, and I've also had plenty of interactions with others who have remarked on how absolutely toxic the forum community is.

It's literally like night and day when you switch between the game and the forum. If one were to believe the posts here, one could only assume that the game consists of a few dozen people staring at a DOS screen. I've been in bad forums before, but this community is taking the cake. I've literally seen posts complaining about every aspect of the game (no "problem" too small or too inconsequential), and many times, there will be contradictory threads sitting side by side on the front page. I've seen the same accounts post complaints about maintenance taking too long just a few days after complaining about the lack of maintenance. It's appalling, and we can do better.

I think the real mystery is how people can take criticism about a game and its features that is posted on a forum so personal. I cannot relate to it at all and are genuinly interested in this phenomenon.

disgusting is an interesting word to describe behavior.

People are upset and the internet is the new wild west. Yeah there are sheriffs, but the law is pretty open to interpretation and the consequences are low if any.

Also, this is a franchise that tends to cater to the obsessive among us. Every Elder Scrolls game has been a sweeping epic of win and the expectation of that in ESO has left the failures it has stumbled upon in its infancy even more subject to ridicule.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Sadly, @DanteVFenris‌, you mistake age with maturity. Much of the forum and community accurately reflect the state of the planet more than any of us would care to admit. (Sigh...)
Also another note, why you feel so intitled. Big whoop you spent 15$ a month your so important(sarcasm). No one want to know if you leave. Two things:
    1. See above (Sigh again...)
    2. Don't imply the world does not revolve around them, as they will surely correct you, and then we will all get stuck talking about their feelings.

There is little hope in feeling you can change the standards of others. You can only hope to reach some by setting an appropriate example (which I feel you are doing by being reasonable here.)
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...
