Computer Authorization?....AGAIN?

Why must I re-verify that my computer (the computer I have been playing on since BETA might I add and authorized MANY TIMES), is authorized to access ESO EVERY......DAMN......TIME.....I DL a major patch???!

If it was a simple process that would be one thing but I have to verify by sending a code to my email (the exact same e-mail I have had and always used for this game), retrieving that code and then have to input that info within 10 mins.

I have never had to jump through such hoops in any online game I have ever played before. So I guess I want to know.........does everyone have to go through this every patch? If so WHY?! This seems like a waste of time when then game should should recognize and carry over my authorization information.

Now if I'm the only one (or a select few), again WHY?

Yes and it's not a big deal, be thankful there is some semblance of account security.

I don't understand the challenge? I get the message, Alt Tab to Email and open email, see code, Alt Tab back and enter code

    Done

After recently finding out my GuildWars and NCSoft accounts were hacked (according to them) after not playing any of the games for months, I really don't have a problem with this

    You're not the only one.

It -still- only takes about 15 seconds.

Relax. Have a drink. Craft a sweater. Go out for a walk and catch your breath.

I'd much rather deal with that than error 11. I may have to uninstall my game and re-install all over. LOL

Wasn't that in the patch notes?

Do you have a static IP? Is it possible that your host uses a group of shared IPs for their clients? I know of a few ISPs that do a similar system, of which would trigger the authentication system.

Really? You are complaining about this? It takes less time to get and put in the new code than it took you to write and post this. Get a grip dude.

It's not a "challenge", its a needless hoop to jump through after spending 5 hrs DLing a patch. A patch should not wipe my current authorization, pure and simple. I should not have to keep telling the game system the same exact thing, it should be smart enough to check and see both the computer and IP address are the same and match what was there before the patch was applied.

    Yes.

    You are referring to? :

With the release of update v1.2.3 tomorrow, we have also made some increased security improvements to our account system. As a result, everyone will be prompted to enter a new one-time password, regardless of whether or not you’ve entered one before. Your one-time password will be sent to the email address associated with your account for The Elder Scrolls Online.

Sorry but this is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about trying to log in only to have the game system tell me my computer in not authorized...the same computer I have ALREADY authorized again, and again, and again

It is precisely what you're talking about and you know it, stop whining, enter code and be done with it.

oh, did I forget to mention that when I alt-enter to windowed mode and back the screen goes blank? And the only way I can get it back again is to restart my system? I have to do the process then close down my system and restart just to have full screen mode again. So it's not the "simple" 15 sec process for me.

This is the e-mail sent to me:

    Greetings Adventurer,

We noticed an attempt to log in to your account for The Elder Scrolls® Online from a new IP address. If you made this attempt, please enter the code below when prompted in game.

    Access Code:
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

If you did not make this attempt, you can ignore this e-mail. Additionally, you can Reset Your Password if you are unsure if it is secure. At a minimum, we recommend you change your password to ensure it is unique. Always remember to log out after you visit your account page from a public computer!

This doesn't sound like a one time password to increase security to me but instead a canned response to supposed unauthorized account access.

I don't mind it but it would be nice if I was actually sent the code.....

Yes, this was precisely what the patch notes were talking about (not to mention the announcement on the login screen itself). So why be surprised?

Although it says there is a 10 minute time limit, my email took 18 minutes to arrive but the code still worked anyway (I have a complicated multi-step email system and it always takes a while to be delivered).

That is not a big problem. I also have to remove eso.exe from my Comodo antivirus list of unrecognized files after every patch.

I tried to log into my game half an hour ago and still no access code. I don't know if I should try to log in again and see if it generates one that will actually get sent to me or what. All I know is I'm getting more annoyed by the minute.

Be grateful you got your code.

Yes, attempting to log in triggers the message and e-mail code. It was a quick and easy process.

My guess is that it is being blocked (most likely by your own ISP / email provider) by an anti-spam check.

I would suggest - checking junk mail folders, temporarily turn off spam blocking, adding ESO to your email senders whitelist, and if everything else fails raise a ticket with your ISP (or email provider).

I tried using the access code they sent me but it didn't work,so I tried logging in again, but haven't received another access code. I also was never prompted to enter a new password and haven't received any e-mails giving a temporary one to use. Just received a new access code and entered it,but it doesn't work either.
