8+ hour patch .. this is why you don't rush a content patch on a non-scheduled day

ZOS wouldnt win. If they dont put the patch out this week they get crap that they lied about new content...if they push it out and there are major issues, then they didnt test it right. No matter what they know they are going to get crap for either decision so I have a feeling they just dont care. Better to just get the content out there now and fix it later cause no matter what they lose.

I would say just don't announce that you are going to do anything until you are ready. There was no one holding a gun to their head demanding they release this on Monday or even this week.

Still not downloading anything new, has anyone been able to download the new patch yet? I still just get PLAY as soon as I start launcher no new updates yet...

For the love of GOD, do a little searching. It's going to be atleast a few more hours before it's ready.

Well thanks for the reply I guess... I was just wondering if anyone is able to download the patch yet as sometimes they release the patch, especially a big one like todays patch, a bit early to allow us to download and install it before the servers come back up...

Oh well guess I gotta wait like everyone else, no big deal was just wondering when/if patch will be up soon...?

Sorry for going off. I've just seen the same exact question about 10 times in the last few minutes.

NP not much bothers me and words on forums never bother me at all. It is all part of the process of anything and game development can pretty much be summed up by saying..."It is all part of the process" especially an MMO..:)

The amount of qq when it happens on a weekday. Lets say they push it on Thursday, major bug fix on friday to saturday. Your weekend is gone and trust me, the amount of qq I quit threads will be twice the numbers. If they push it today they have wednesday and thursday to fix. Weekend saved. Your choice.

I like this because not everyone works Mon-Fri and has the weekend to themselves. I work Fri - Mon 0000-1000 so this sort of sucks for me, but what the hell now I can drink and vape while reading some of the funniest comments on the ESO Facebook page and on the forums. Good stuff. I do agree that the timing was wrong, they could have started earlier but they didn't. So now enjoy.

As of yesterday when they skipped the maintenance ESO said they had tenative plans to push the patch today but it wasn't quite ready. Now after four hours of patching they are expecting at least another four more hours.

If you are not 100% sure about a major content patch 24 hours before pushing it live you can wait a couple days and test it. It isn't like they have been telling us for weeks to expect it on a certain day. You already have a scheduled day on Thursday what is the rush to push out a patch that wasn't even ready 24 hours ago?

Are you a game developer? Do you manage megaservers? Are you a network engineer?

Im going to guess no, so im also going to guess you don't have an idea how the internals work so why are you wasting time posting other than being mad.

Not a game developer, I manage servers but not sure what the defenition of "megaserver" would be, and yes I'm a Network Administrator.

Alright so then you of ALLL people even with some network knowledge should have some sort of sympathy knowing of possible issues that could arise from a major content update. For all we know some hardware went bad, someone spilled there coffee on the router, Bill forgot to bring the passwords from home and he lives 45 minutes one way and had to go back and get them in heavy traffic due to a 4 car pile up on the expressway. Maybe someone overslept, or quit.

Its all irrelevant. It is what it is and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Show some sympathy for your fellow network admins or what not and go play Simcity 4, its on sale today.
