I'm not complaining that there is no patch. I just don't want to log in, get started doing something and suddenly see "Server is going down in 5 minutes".
The point of sheduled maintenance is to not have to say it does happen/does not happen every time.
If they don't make it, it is good for us.

That might work, except they said there would be a day's notice if the scheduled maintenances weren't needed so people can plan accordingly. They didn't.

No, it's not good that they can't maintain basic communication with their customers. Speaks volumes about the multitudes of problems this game has, actually.

I can think of a few possible causes for the delay:

    1. The guy in charge of implementing the patch realized he was out of Red Bull, 7-Up and Cheetos and made a mad dash to the store to get more.
    2. The guy in charge of implementing the patch called in sick.
    3. The gal in charge of implementing the patch went into labor.
    4. Someone misplaced the patch notes.
    5. Someone hid the patch notes, server hamster and thumb drive containing the patch code and forced the entire office to do a scavenger hunt to find them.
    6. Mannimarco caused a planemeld between the Earth and Coldharbour allowing Molag Bal to escape so the entire office is trying to catch him so they can stuff him back into the game.

    That was hilarious

If you write this as a conversation (instead of pictures) it does not quite make as much sense:
"*in a totalyl calm, informative tone* There will be no maintenacne today."
"What, HOW DARE YO!"/"Don't scare me like this"/"WHAT? *angry rage*".

While we all can agree that it would have helped if they wrote this earlier, there is nothing worth starting a discussion about it. Your strong reactions come over as played (terribly by the way), not honestly felt. At least for me and I am know to be wrong sometimes.

Besides this post was about 2.2 not comming out today. Wich turned out to never have been planned to come out today.

We are not paying customers. Why would anyone take the time to put out a brief post as to what is going on? Downtime will happen with or without notice for unknown length of time to do either to a stated goal or nothing at all.

One point that no one is actually touching on is that if/when a scheduled maintenance is missed, it increases the likelihood of an unscheduled maintenance in the near future and that will disrupt paying customer's schedules again.

It may be trivial to some, but there are people who make schedules around things that are important to them at the time.

If paying customers arrange and fix schedules around planned events, in this case events that Z says they will schedule or announce delays about, only to find that the company taking their money has little regard for the time of those clients - then those clients are entitled to voice opposition to shoddy treatment.

It's not entirely that there is disappointment over the maintenance not taking place so much as there is realization that the missed service was not mentioned and will likely cause an unscheduled disruption in the near future.
That means people could have played when they were lead to believe they couldn't, and probably won't be able to play at some future time when they expected to. And 'Play' in this case means 'Get a service that was paid for in advance'.

Some people don't care that their time is treated with capricious disregard.
    That's fine.
It's rather arrogant of them to feel that others who DO care about their time must be dragged down to the same level of personal disregard.
And mocked in turn if they don't agree to be mistreated.

And yet, game companies rely on loyal customers or gain a reputation as living on the churn of disposable customers.... Go figure.

Without a weekly announcement, my event diary for 3am on Tuesday mornings would be impossible to maintain.

The devs have decided that you have to go to reddit to find information about ESO and their forums are the last place they post stuff.

Were you and I the only people playing the game, I'd probably shrug it off too.

If enough people become alienated by the treatment, you just might end up being a member of an ever decreasing population of players, and you'll wonder why they just aren't rolling out the developments like they need to. People voting by taking their sub money away means that development and bug fixes get postponed.

I'm not saying it's the most important issue. But it's one more issue on a list that is getting longer, and some people who will pay money to support a game wont pay money to be treated badly while supporting the game.

On occasion good games get put on the 'No one plays that anymore, it's not worth the hassle' list. That list gets longer, not shorter.

    :)
